Chapter 3 - A new Quest.

[You have awakened new skills.]

[SSS Radar: This skill allows you to detect enemies within a certain radius, and also track anything you have previously encountered or touched. It also gives you the ability to detect new quests before they are displayed, while giving you the ability to track resources.]

[SSS class Lord of Information: This skill allows you to read certain people's character profile and information. Once you've attained a bond above 80, you gain the ability to read their minds. You also have the ability to speak all kinds of languages, and also understand and manipulate people's behavior through the system.]

[SSS class Absorb: This skill allows you to absorb dropped orbs from defeated monsters and turn them into temporary boosts for future purposes, which could eventually lead to a permanent skill.]

Jayhan was now fully focused on the template before him. The skills he was seeing didn't look like much at first glance, but when used by the right person, it can be a really overpowered set of skills.

Then again, he wondered in that moment, was he the only one that could see the system?

He took one more look around, and no one else seemed to be looking in front of them the way he was when the system alert showed up.

'So I am the only one that got this?'

Suddenly -

[A support system has been chosen for you.]

[Kara Liam has been chosen to be your support system.]

'Support system? What is that...?'

Kara suddenly jerked up from his arms, and pointed to the air in front of her.

"There's a screen in front of me babe, can you see it?" Kara asked.

"You also got a system?!" Jayhan was surprised, but unlike his own, he couldn't see anything near Kara, even though she was clearly pointing at the air.

"Yeah I think so. Looks similar to those games we always play. You can't see it?"

"I can't see it. In games, only the player can see the tabs, no other player can. Tell me what is written on it." Jayhan was still flat on the ground, but the expression on his face held so much curiosity.

"Okay..."

Kara now focused on the screen, a few inches away from her face.

{Congratulations, you have been chosen to be a support system.}

{Jayhan's current health is: 68%

Danger risk: 79%.

Current mode: Tired and confused.}

Just as the system announced, Kara read everything to Jayhan.

Jayhan was quick to realize the system that had found its way to Kara seemed to only focus on him.

Was this linked to the other notification he got, claiming Kara was supposed to be a support system?

Ding!

(Time remaining: 0:00 minutes.)

(Congratulations on completing the first trial.)

Everyone's attention instantly turned to the huge screen that was displayed above them.

The people inside the store, who had been avoiding each other since they had completed their tasks, all looked up to read the next announcement by the weird system.

(Only seven people managed to successfully kill a person to advance the trial.)

(You have all been rewarded with 4000 coins.)

So far everyone seemed to have gathered a total of 8000 coins since the apocalypse. And since they didn't know what it was going to be used for, no one was all that excited to hear anything about rewards.

(Let's get to the main tutorial of this world. As you all know, this world is no longer the one you are used to. The gods have decided to claim this world. And I have come as nothing more than a messenger.

If you wish to survive long enough in this new world, you will need to be obedient, fast, and strong, strong enough to pass every quest thrown at you. The faster and smarter you are at gathering resources, the higher your rate of survival.)

Listening to everything the system was saying, it didn't take long for Jayhan to figure out something that stood out to him.

Most of the lines the system was saying all sounded familiar to the synopsis written at the back of the game he wanted to get for his girlfriend.

(Now listen up, as I will only say this once. From time to time, quests will be thrown at you all, a chance for you to gather coins, and get stronger during your time in the apocalypse. Mind you, if your coins drop to zero, you will be killed on the spot, so do try to avoid this as best as you can.

Secondly, stationed all around the city are zones called Shopping Zones. In this place, you can find a machine that will let you check your stats and trade. Each coin you are given can be used to improve your stats, and also be used to buy items needed for survival.)

The voice continued,

(With all that known, I wish you the best of luck in your survival quest. Please try to survive. A new quest will now be issued.)

(Main quest: Survive the monster horde for 40 minutes.

Description: The entire city is being run by monsters trying to kill you. Fight your way through them or find Safe Zones to lay low for a while.

Reward: 1000 coins.

Penalty: ???)

(Quest starts in: 10:00 minutes.)

'So now the system wants us to stay alive for 40 minutes while being surrounded by monsters? This day can't get any worse.'

Jayhan thought to himself, as he gently shook his head.

Peeping inside the room, he could already see the rest of the people in the store, talking to one another, probably trying to make a team in order to raise their survival rate.

Being in a team sounds nice, but not when it's filled with people who didn't think twice to kill one another.

While there may be a chance some only did it out of self-defense, it was still too risky.

Hence why Jayhan wanted to listen in on their conversation before doing anything rash.

"Hi, my name is Eric Fuentes, I am a sheriff in this state..." The man showed his badge to the people, "... Since we all understand the current predicament, I'll get straight to the point. Let's form an alliance."
