Chapter 9 - Doubt

Time seemed to move slowly for some, but was incredibly fast for many, especially a certain human who was hauled up in his laboratory with all sorts of plants, microscopes and lab gear around him.

6 AM.

Clare Rei pressed the white button on the side of the fortified steel door.

Vrmmmmm~

The door opened and Clare Rei was now taken aback by the scene before her.

OH MY HEAVENS!

It works! Their son was a genius!

Clare Rei felt her heart rate accelerate unnaturally when seeing her son appear amid the chaos. "Son?… This… this… it really works?"

Gort stared at his mother's dropped jaw with pride. Although he was extremely tired with black circles underneath his eyelids, all this didn't matter anymore.

Worth it… Truly worth it!

Gort had spent his days perfecting and perfecting and experimenting until the system classified his product as 100% identical to the product he is supposed to make.

Understand that the system gave him the formula. With each bath he made, it would tell him how close he was to the original or intended product. Only this morning at 4 am, did he succeed with a 100% match.

Hahahahahaha~

Great! Great!

They can finally start making money and saving the world!

The FruiTreegia Fertilizer—A miraculous fertilizer that enhances and changes plant and fruit DNA, highlighting the metal potency of their genes. Gort carried out a drum of the fertilizer, heading from the basement to the living room alongside Clare Rei.

It was 6 AM. Almost everyone in the village was already up. Villagers were early risers by nature and repetition.

"Brat, are you ready?" Comrade Park was seated, finishing up his meal with a calm gaze.

Well, he would have looked calm if not for his hands that kept shaking and giving him away. All this while, none of them have actually seen the product Gort spoke of. So after laying in bed last night, Park Fairbang, he couldn't sleep a wink. He turned and turned, sighing from time to time, almost causing Clare Rei to kick him out the room.

"Any success?"

Gort slowly raised his head from his plate, with a slow grin now spreading on his lips. And then—

Bahahahahahahahahahahahaha~

Park Fairbang laughed merrily, knowing his son's meaning all too well. "Good. Good… That's my boy!... That's my son! I never doubted you for a second."

Clare Rei rolled her eyes heavenwards. Says the person who nearly nagged her ears off last night.

In no time, the father and son left their home, with Park Fairbang now carrying the jug of fluid, as though it was some precious artifact from a 10,000 year old tomb. Staring at the vast village lands around him, Gort clenched his fists in determination.

"Father, no matter what, we must succeed!"

5 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days left before the flood.

They say there is no time like the present.

Arriving at the Company's site, they spotted a gathering of villagers who were now admiring the company's plaque hung high at the gate.

Remember that the company was just a massive farmland with twin peaks and a small stream running between them. The area was fenced and a greenhouse had now been built at one of those twin peaks. The walls were extremely higher than normal walls, and there were guard posts around them, as though it was a fortress.

"Hey, it truly looks domineering."

"Not bad… not bad.. Seeing how domineering it looks, I suddenly feel proud to have bought shares in the company."

"That's right, this is now OUR company."

"Hihihihihih~... So this is what being a shareholder feels like? Why do I feel the need to apply for a night guarding shift to protect my investment?"

"Ooops… It seems some guard positions are still available. I'll have my last son, Frodo, join in to guard my investment."

"Hey, hey, My investment of 1000 Gwins doesn't look so bad now. At least I can now brag, go out and brag that I am a shareholder and top boss in a company."

"Bah! Who made you boss" If anyone should be boss, it should be me, since I bought 3 shares for 3000 Gwins! You only bought 1 share and you dare call yourself a boss before me?"

"Heh… What a bunch of idiots! The way I see it, you're all just drowning your money in a river. What shareholders? Just wait till you don't get your money back and see why you cry then!"

"FOOLS! Which company looks so shabby? If This shabby company makes a turnaround, I will definitely drink my own blood for you all."

"Dammit! Who asked your opinion here? When shareholders are talking., you non shareholders who refused to contribute should just leave our company. I believe in Gort. I tell you, that boy has a future! So don't come here and put water in our soup to dilute our happiness!"

"Yeah, yeah! Go far, far away, and let us, shareholders, worry if we will be getting our money back or not!"
