Chapter 17 - Police Station

Hailey erupted, "You're outrageous! Just because someone's beautiful, you try to ruin them? If you have so much time, manage your own husband!"

"Thankfully, everything was cleared up. Otherwise, I, Hailey Roberts, would never have let you off!"

"Just looking at you makes me angry. Get out of our sight!"

The woman quickly stood up, ready to leave—but William's men grabbed her arm.

"Slandering, defaming, spreading false rumors… and you still think you can walk away?"

The woman stiffened. "What do you want to do?"

"Take you to the police," the bodyguard replied.

Natalie looked at William, surprised. Did he not realize that Hailey orchestrated all this?

William met her gaze with a gentle smile that made her stomach churn. She quickly turned away.

The woman sneered. "Fine. Take me! But don't think those photos are fake. That woman is good. Can anyone explain the marks on her body?"

William's eyes lit up—he was about to claim responsibility, hoping it would make Natalie return to him.

But just as he opened his mouth, a deep, magnetic voice cut in:

"I did it."

All heads turned.

Logan stepped forward, wearing a deep-sea blue tailored suit. A crisp black shirt lay beneath it, paired with a matching tie and an elegant silver clip adorned with tiny diamonds. His limited edition Caradie watch sparkled subtly, the dial set with twelve fine diamonds.

His aura was magnetic, commanding the attention of everyone present. The crowd instinctively parted as he passed. Not a single bodyguard was needed—his presence alone was enough.

William adjusted his tie subconsciously. Though his clothes were expensive, they suddenly felt like cheap imitations. As Logan passed him, his inferiority surged.

He shouldn't have been in a wheelchair.

Hailey stared, stunned. Though she'd seen Logan before, this time left her truly shaken. Logan was on a completely different level from William—his appearance, demeanor, and aura unmatched.

His features were sharply sculpted, his expression cool and aloof. His gaze radiated a natural dominance, as though all others were beneath him.

Wherever he went, people moved aside without a word. He was a king among men. Unchallenged.

And yet… Natalie stood beside him, equally radiant.

Her starry-sky blue dress matched his deep-sea blue suit perfectly. Together, they looked stunning—like they belonged on a magazine cover.

Hailey burned with jealousy but didn't dare show it. She clenched her skirt and forced a calm expression.

It's okay, she told herself. Even if Natalie caught Logan's attention for now, it wouldn't last. Everything she wanted, she always got in the end. Logan would be hers too.

Logan stepped beside Natalie, his gaze sweeping over her neck. Faint bruises marred her porcelain skin—his handiwork. He touched them lightly, savoring the sensation.

Natalie stood still, resisting the urge to flinch. She didn't understand why Logan had come, but since he stood up to protect her, she had no choice but to accept it gracefully.

"Does it hurt?"

"No."

"I'll be gentler next time."

Natalie: "…"

Next time?

"Awwww!"

A girl in the crowd squealed.

"That was so sweet—I didn't even mean to say that!"

"I ship them!"

"So those marks were from them being affectionate… What about all of you who were yelling earlier?"

"I knew it. There's no way a girl that beautiful would do something like that. And with a boyfriend like him?

"Her eye?"

"Exactly."

Natalie was surprised to hear the ongoing discussions.

So, there really were people in the world who could command authority without saying a word.

What kind of god-tier skill is that? I want it!

Logan turned around and cast a casual glance at the woman.

"Take her to the police station. And also…"

He pointed with his finger.

"This one, this one, and that one. Send them all over."

Dylan immediately called over security and restrained the members of Hailey's team Logan had pointed out.

Hailey flew into a rage.

"What are you doing? Are you out of your mind? Let go! Let go of us! We have nothing to do with that crazy woman. Why are we being taken too?"

"If you've got nothing to hide, you can explain that at the station."

"I'm not going! Natalie is my sister! How could I possibly harm her?"

Dylan's tone dripped with sarcasm.

"If she's really your sister, then why did your team aim cameras at her without giving her a heads-up?"

"If she's really your sister, why pretend to help while actually digging her deeper into the ground with so-called evidence?"

"If she's really your sister, then—"

Hailey's face turned red with anxiety.

"No! I've been helping her this entire time!"

"The more you 'helped,' the more speechless she became. The more you 'helped,' the more people turned against her. Great job."

"No! I didn't know the evidence would turn out that damning. If I had known, I wouldn't have—"

Hailey tried to explain, but Logan cut her off impatiently.

"Enough noise."

Dylan realized he'd gotten carried away and quickly stepped back. The guards escorted the rest into the elevator without incident.

But when it came to Hailey's turn, her fans formed a human wall.

"You've got it wrong! Hailey has been helping Natalie the whole time!"

"Yeah, just send that liar to the station! Leave Hailey alone!"

"We believe what we saw. Hailey tried her best to support her sister!"

A few even directed their comments toward Logan.

"Handsome, since you're on Natalie's side too, you shouldn't be going after Hailey."

"Yeah, you're on the same team!"

Logan's gaze swept over Hailey with mocking disdain.

"Are all your fans blind?"

"Throughout this entire incident, she's interacted with that woman several times—and no one noticed?"

"Dylan, replay the footage. Let these blind sheep see their idol's performance."

"Yes, sir."

The video was displayed on the large screen in the hallway.

First clip: Hailey reaching into her pocket, clearly operating her phone. Seconds later, a woman downstairs checked her phone and then headed upstairs.

Second clip: The same woman held up a photo, demanding an apology from Natalie. Natalie refused. Hailey then subtly drew a circle on her clothes with her finger. Moments later, the woman tossed the photo into the air.

Third clip: William arrived. The woman glanced at Hailey, who patted her skirt twice. Emboldened, the woman continued her verbal assault on Natalie.

Fourth clip: When William suggested calling the police, the woman again looked to Hailey. This time, Hailey clenched her fist after patting her skirt once. The woman suddenly knelt and confessed in tears.

"What does that prove? Am I supposed to just stand still like a statue?" Hailey cried. "If I hadn't done anything, you'd say I was too cold and still call me the mastermind!"
