Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Shadows Beneath the Academy

One Year Later – Royal Academy of Arcanum

Kael Arclight stood beneath the marble archway of the Royal Academy, the most prestigious magic school in the entire Kingdom of Solaria.

A place where the powerful sharpened their gifts.

Where the weak were crushed.

And where Kael, the "powerless" prince, was sent… not as a student of honor, but as a silent exile.

Royal Message, Royal Shame

"Let him attend," the king had said to the court."If he truly has no magic, he will be forgotten within the year."

The court laughed.

But Kael didn't.

Because he wasn't here to impress.

He was here to investigate the whispers he'd heard… about a hidden Divine Relic sealed beneath the Academy — one that may be tied to his true identity.

The Academy Entrance Test

Kael stood in a vast open arena, surrounded by thousands of students.

From noble heirs to warborn commoners, all had come to prove their worth.

He wore no crest.

No enchanted robes.

Only his simple black uniform and a piercing gaze that missed nothing.

"That's the First Prince? Hah! He looks like a commoner."

"No mana presence at all… he's just here because of pity."

But Kael's expression was unreadable.

He stepped forward when his name was called.

"Kael Arclight. Magic test… begin."

A shimmering orb floated in front of him — a device designed to react to a person's magical core.

All others had glowed blue, gold, or crimson.

Kael's? It remained dark.

For a moment.

Then… it flickered black.

And shattered.

The crowd gasped. The proctor paled.

"T-That's… impossible!"

The orb had been designed to read all known elements.

Black?

That was not a known element.

That was something else.

Her Gaze Pierced Him

Watching from above, seated in the Headmaster's balcony, was a mysterious girl draped in silver and violet robes.

Eyes like moonlight. A presence like quiet thunder.

She leaned forward.

"Interesting. He shattered the orb… yet has no core?""Or perhaps… something greater is locked away."

She smiled.

Her name was Selene Valeria, heir of the Moonfire family and one of the strongest students in the academy.

She would be the second to fall into Kael's orbit.

After the Test

Kael was given the lowest rank. Assigned to Dorm E. The "Failures' Wing."

There, he met others cast aside by the system — including a hot-headed fire mage girl with explosive hair and attitude:

Lyra Blazeheart — impulsive, aggressive… but strangely protective of Kael after he stood up for her in the cafeteria.

When a noble tried to hex her, Kael didn't fight back… but the spell mysteriously reflected.

And the noble's arm broke.

Kael simply blinked.

"Maybe you should cast better," he said.

The rumor spread fast: "The powerless prince just reflected a tier-3 curse."

No one knew how.

Not even Kael.

But something deep inside him was changing.

Aeris and Zara Return

At night, on the dorm rooftop, Kael found Zara leaning against a pillar.

"Thought you'd get rid of me by coming here?" she grinned.

And Aeris appeared in the shadows, casually sharpening her dagger.

"We enrolled too. Someone needs to keep you from dying."

Kael smiled.

Small. But real.

The God-Wound Awakens

That night, Kael dreamed again.

But this time… he remembered.

The face of a goddess he once loved.

The betrayal of a friend who stabbed him in the back.

The burning throne he destroyed to save a universe that called him a monster.

He awoke with a gasp — and a black flame curling at the edge of his fingers.

"I'm not powerless."

"I'm just… remembering."
