There was a sense of both wonder and anxiety throughout the community now. In order to determine Scarecrow's precise birthplace, Pandit Shivprasad and the village elders determined that they needed to look through the village's oldest documents.
Records and ancient scriptures have been safely stored for years in an old home in the village. Strange things had happened in that home a lot, thus it was now abandoned. There, many reported hearing voices and seeing shadows at night.
But now there was nothing else to do. Some courageous young men and the village headman, Panditji, made the decision to go there. There was only dust and cobwebs when they walked into the mansion. The air had a peculiar suffocating quality, as though there were an unseen force at work.
The History of Scarecrow
An antique book that contained the village's earliest secrets was discovered after many hours of research. After carefully reading it, Panditji's face went white with terror.
The real name of Scarecrow was 'Bijay Singh'. He was a black magician, not just any dude. Because he attempted to exploit human sacrifices to gain more power, he was exiled from the town. He vowed to return one day and exact revenge on everyone as he was dying, despite the villagers' attempts to kill him.
He was burned in the village well, but according to the book, his true "place of practice"—where he first used his black magic—had to be destroyed in order to fully release his spirit.
The Look for the Practice Location
The village now had a fresh question: did anyone know where Scarecrow practiced? "There used to be an old ruin outside the village a long time ago," recalled Kashi Nath, the community's oldest resident, in an attempt to recall. Strange occurrences were believed to occur there, thus it was banned to go. That might be the location.
The Beginning of the Darkness
The villagers now needed to determine if they were prepared to visit that ruin in order to solve Scarecrow's mystery. Although it was a bold move, if they were successful, Scarecrow might be permanently stopped.
"We have to get there before sunset," Panditji stated solemnly. We might not be able to find our way back if we visit there at night.
A few courageous peasants chose to accompany him. But could they actually go to the source of Scarecrow's evil sorcery? Or would this voyage turn out to be their demise?
In Part 5, this was the fourth installment of "Scarecrow's Revenge." The plot is now getting even more enigmatic—will the villagers get at their destination or will they encounter a fresh threat?
