Inside the ruins, the sense of dread grew. The spirit of Scarecrow was fighting back with all its strength. The villagers now faced a pivotal moment: either they backed out and gave Scarecrow even more power, or they destroyed the black grimoire without thinking about their own safety.
Keeping the Grimoire safe
The spirit of Scarecrow was now completely present. Tendrils of black smoke swirled around it, and its eyes blazed like coals. It yelled, "If anyone touches this grimoire, they will be instantly reduced to ashes!"
After a brief period of eye closure, Pandit Shivprasad started chanting. Scarecrow's anger increased as soon as he heard the incantation.Suddenly, as though hundreds of souls were moaning inside the mansion, terrible noises started to come from its walls. The Panditji motioned to the terrified locals to keep their composure.
The Fire Attack
Some of the young people in the community moved the torches in the direction of the grimoire when the village headman gave the signal. Scarecrow screamed in agony as the fire drew closer to the grimoire. The whole room shook as black smoke poured from its body. Then, however, the torches were put out by an invisible power.
"My power is not so weak that a few flames can destroy me," the Scarecrow chuckled. You can't get out of my custody!"
A Unspoken Phrase
The village's eldest, Kashi Nath, suddenly remembered something at that very moment. "My grandfather once told me that fire alone is not enough to destroy this grimoire," he stated in a shaky voice. Scarecrow's spirit can only be released and its curse lifted if a certain mantra is spoken with it.
Panditji started looking for the right mantra right away in his ancient texts. He started reciting it aloud as soon as he located it.
"Om Agnishuddhaya Namah, Atmanashaya Swaha!"
The mansion started to vibrate strangely as the mantra was shouted. Scarecrow's cries became more intense. Its shape gradually started to change. However, it soon gathered all of its strength and surrounded the mansion with a ring of black clouds.
The Scarecrow's Last Strike
Time was running out now. When Panditji made the motion, the village's strongest young man flung the flaming torch as hard as he could at the grimoire. The room was filled with light as soon as the fire started. The mansion's walls cracked and Scarecrow writhed in pain.
The entire mansion appeared on the verge of collapsing, and the villagers started to scatter. Scarecrow, however, did not give up easy. It delivered a final attack with all its might left, a tremendous shock that threw some of the people far away and hoisted them into the air.
Is Scarecrow really going to be destroyed? Or does it still have power?
(Part 8 will be continued.)
This constituted the seventh segment of "Scarecrow's Revenge." The tale is now coming to a head; will Scarecrow's reign last or can the villagers actually destroy it?
