Chapter 2 - The Young Shall be Free

There were butterflies in Park Fairbang's belly, churning and punching him mercilessly.

No way, there must be some underground battle going in from a molecular point of view, with the way his belly was churning.

"I don't understand," Park Fairbang spoke with a face worse than crying. "After the heavens finally blessed our Fairbang Family with a son who is dubbed by many teachers to be a genius who only appears once in a millennium… why can't he just act like other genius students his age?"

Clare Rei chuckled, amused by her husband's grief.

Despite what many thought of her son, she had absolute trust in his decisions.

Growing up from young till now, her son has actually never made a wrong decision.

There are times when they think he made a wrong one, but weeks, months or even years later, the decision always proved to be the best outcome chosen.

If it were an ordinary person, she would also panic just like the old man.

But she knew that although her son was many times silly and playful, he was also calm, collected and highly intelligent when it called for it.

Despite sometimes acting reckless in the eyes of many, his son always moved with a plan in mind before taking action.

In the end, Geniuses had their own paths to follow, this is what Clare Rei had long concluded.

…

Clare Rei and Park Fairbang were still talking, when they suddenly heard a familiar voice bellow from behind the left side of the house.

"Father, Mother… Your beloved son has returned."

"_" [Park Fairbang]

"_" [Chai Rai]

Speak of the Devil, and he shall appear.

"GORT FAIRBANG!!"

Park Fairbang's hand was trembling vigorously when pointing his pipe at Gort Fairbang.

He knew it! He knew it!

Didn't he call it?

"YOU-YOU-YOU…. You are in your final year and haven't graduated from school yet."

"I should have known something was up when you—a scrooge—would be able to go to school for 2 years without any reports coming in about you!"

There are more than 400 households in the entire Geldhan village, with children emerging from each household.

And his son just so happens to be the brightest and most clever one of them all.

At such a feat, he—Gort Fairbang's father—should be able to hold his head up high in pride at his son's brains and intelligence, seeing as his son was one out of the few who were able to enter a prestigious schools in the County.

Luton County housed numerous schools depending on one's level.

To get into Gort Fairbang's school, only 7% of those who apply pass will get transferred to the genius classes.

Classrooms are divided from F to A… and then to S, for special students who were dubbed geniuses.

The entry scores and acceptance requirements were quite high to enter S-Class.

But Gort Fairbang was able to enter the school gallantly as the top high school candidate upon entry.

And because of this, his tuition was free and even his in-school housing needs were taken care of too.

In fact, Park Fairbang has never recalled paying for any tuition on Gort Fairbang's head since the child was born.

With his intelligence, he quickly earned the right to study for free at all levels.

You would think that with all this, someone would allow him, the father, to smile proudly for long.

Dammit!

If eyes could kill, Gort Fairbang would be dead by now.

Park Fairbang squinted his eyes dangerously, still pointing his pipe at Gort. "Com'on, let's hear it then! For your own good, you better talk fast before I make you headless."

Instantly, Gort raised his hand in defeat. "Dad, Mom!..." he began. "I've come to home to stay for–"

Gort Fairbang had not even completed his sentence yet when:

~BANG!

Comrade Park conclusively threw his pipe on the wooden outdoor railings with so much vigor that it bounced back.

"What did you say boy? I dare you to say it AGAIN!" Park Fairbang's eyes were full of bloodshot when seeing his son. "Did you just say that you've come back to STAY?"

With a wry smile, Gort Fairbang gave a sympathetic look to his mother while taking several steps back.

"No way, don't look at me like that. You made this mess, so clean it up yourself." Clare Rei decisively smirked at her son while clearing the cup and other harmful items around her fuming husband.

Of course, if things truly got out of hand, she will step in and calm Park Fairbang. However, her husband was indeed right to get angry.

Which parent sends their child to school in hopes that he actively drops out in their final year and returns home for good?

Although Gort Fairbang did not finish his sentence, she concluded it to be so. And indeed… she was right.

"Dad, calm down and listen to me."

Gort Fairbang quickly dodged the porch pillow thrown his way, followed by the pipe in his father's hand.

"Listen to you? LISTEN TO WHAT? A bird's tweet?" Park Fairbang felt he was going crazy. "Do you know how many people yearn and dream of escaping this poor village of ours where chickens refuse to poop in?"

Understand that they also have a single school in their village, which is often ranked in the bottom tier across the whole Country.

Can what they have even be considered a school?

In their village, there are people who would love to go to school in the County, but can't go because the County is too far and their families need them at home…. Especially those who live with the elderly.

In fact, even if the elderly want to send these children away, the children would refuse, fearing that no one will be available to take care of their loved ones.

Almost all 400 households here were farmers, fishermen, and lumberjacks.

They did simple professions and sold their goods in Luton County's South market for more money.

Understand that their income they generated, solely depended on how much profit they make day by day, selling their goods.

And with such an opportunity, this brat actually said he wanted to drop out of school and permanently move back home?

Park Fairbang was LIVID!
