Chapter 19 - They're back

Snow had yet to fall, Fabro looked outside. If they don't come back in a week I'm leaving. Where are you going? Home. Home? You have a home? What kind of question is that? No I just thought you were an orphan.

He looked at Yamiko like she just stabbed his heart. I am an orphan but I did grow up somewhere, well I actually moved there when I was about 12. Oh,can we come with?we don't really have anywhere to go.

If you want to, I think you would love the people back home, he said with a small smile. Fabro had to go home before the first snow fell, he really hoped the Snow girl get here soon.

At the Snow household

Nobell was looking at her grandmother, she had just returned, looking worn out, disheveled hair, her dress torn and her shoes were gone, she had sooth and dried purple blood on her.

She took out a box from her spacial ring. Nobell took it and opened it, Inside were four white flowers. Take this to Vanity, I need a shower. She watched as her grandmother left the room looking like a ghost.

Nobell didn't wait, she had no reason to, she did not even say goodbye to her parents or anybody. She sneaked out of the compound without alerting anyone. About 40 kilometres away from the city Luke was waiting for her.

He was hidden in a cave on a snow filled mountain. The winter snow had yet to fall but the White city was almost always surrounded by snow due to the high concentration of ice and water laws in the surrounding.

It was a beautiful city to be honest, with rivers flowing slowly throughout the city. Infact the County lords mansion, Nobells home was on top of a natural dam, it was almost always covered in ice but on a certain period during the year it melt.

Nobell had left this beautiful city. She had a mission to complete and she would complete it without fail. She saw the blonde man waiting for her. He was still drunk but she would be foolish if she underestimated him because of that.

The two of them left south towards flame ridge town where she would meet with the Lord of vanity. They were moving at blinding speeds but it would still take them a week to get there.

With the amount of mana and stamina potions the blonde drunk gave her, even if she moved at almost her full speed she would be fine in terms of energy. As she had predicted it took them a little over a week to get there.

They seperated, she would meet the Lord of Vanity tonight and hopefully it won't take long for him to make the cure. She did not want winter to meet her on the way even though due to the low mana density here she was unlikely to meet thralls, it a risk she was not willing to take.

She took a stroll in town to check on how her people were doing. Although she rarely came around these parts, she was still technically a princess of this county and everybody living there was hers.

She noticed something, the people looked healthy, too healthy for winter infact. Not all of them of course but even the homeless seemed healthy, then she realised something she did not notice before, it was warmer.

The cold was still there but barely, it was much warmer than other places. She asked around and learnt that somebody had installed heaters all over town. She went to check these heaters, she had expected to find mortal heater burning but instead she was met with an earth grade artefact.

On the side, barely noticeable was a sign, a black coin. Anybody who is anybody knew what that sign meant. The Lord of Vanity designed this but why? It wouldn't be because he felt sorry for the mortals no?

She didn't know it but she had hit the spot, that exactly why he had done it. She decided she would speak with the town lord to get his input on the matter.

She went to the town lords mansion, it was a grand sight, the mansion was large, not anywhere near her own family mansion but still very large for a town lords mansion.

She knocked on the gate and Introduced herself to the guard, she watched as the guard rushed Inside. Out came a middle aged man with a smile, she may not be good at reading people but even she could tell that smile was fake.

The gates opened and she was welcomed inside, they went inside the mansion to the mans office. To what do we owe of the honour of the established young lady Snow? He asked with a bow.

Greetings town lord, she showed him proper respect even though she personally believes he does not deserve it. They sat down and she was offered expensive tea, the office was truly luxurious, decorated with gold and silk, paintings adorned the wall.

It about the heaters in the town, do you know where they came from? She was trying to figure out if he knew the identity of the Lord of Vanity. I heard grandmaster Tong made them, his disciple had informed me.

So you did not purchase them? No my lady, although I dearly wish I could've done something myself to help my poor people I am afraid I lacked the power and funds for such a thing, grandmaster Tong had installed them for free.

Do you have any idea why he would do that? I did ask my lady and I was told a descendant of grandmaster Tongs friend lived here, I was not told who that was though, I apologize, the man said.

I see " is grandmaster Tong related to the Lord of Vanity? Or is he the Lord of Vanity? That would make sense, he is after all a crafter and a grandmaster but then again he is not known for alchemy nor as a dark crafter" she thought to herself.

Thank you for your time town lord, she said as she stood up to leave. It is my pleasure my lady, I will show you out. Thank you but I can show myself out. She said and left. She had to prepare for her meeting with the Lord of Vanity in a few hours.
