Chapter 14 – The Revelation of a Secret
Cordelia:
— Ah, ha… what a good sleep. So, today our journey begins. Adrian, wake up! The sun's already up!
Adrian:
— Yeah, I'm getting up. So... where do we start looking today? — he asks.
Cordelia:
— How about we go back to the place where you found the letter? Maybe there's more there you didn't see.
Adrian:
— Alright, let's go then.
Cordelia:
— Here, eat this — she says, tossing food to Adrian.
Adrian:
— Thanks.
Cordelia:
— Once we finish eating, we'll head out.
Adrian:
— Cordelia, I never asked you... how did you end up in this place? — Adrian asks, curious.
Cordelia:
— I was really sick, so my parents went everywhere searching for a cure. But they never found one… because we were poor and weak.
Adrian:
— Wait… weren't your parents inheritors?
Cordelia:
— Yes, but… — she sighs — Adrian, even though we're all inheritors, there's a difference.
For example: someone who inherited a centaur spirit isn't the same as someone who inherited a dragon.
If you had to choose, which one would you pick?
Adrian:
— Of course I'd pick the dragon.
Cordelia:
— Exactly. The people my parents asked for help didn't think it made sense to waste resources on "weak" inheritors like them.
So, they came up with a solution: to find an inheritance for me. That way, I could cure my illness.
And on one of those searches, we ended up here by accident… and got separated.
I found my inheritance and started looking for them… until I found you.
That's how I ended up in this place — she says, finishing her food.
Adrian:
— So you were here alone before you met me?
Cordelia:
— Yeah, basically that.
Well, let's go… we still have a lot of ground to cover today. So move it — she says, heading out the door.
Adrian:
— Cordelia, I promise... I'll help you find your parents.
Cordelia (whispering):
— Idiot...
Adrian:
— Did you say something?
Cordelia:
— Nothing. Let's go already!
Adrian:
— Alright, alright… I'm coming!
