Chapter 17 – Memories of a Past
Adrian:
— Ahh... Ahh... it hurts...
Cordelia:
— Adrian, stay still! You're still injured, you can't be moving around like that.
Adrian:
— Cordelia... are you okay?
Cordelia:
— Yes, we're safe now.
Adrian:
— I'm sorry... I couldn't help you properly. That's why the plan didn't work out and we almost died because of my stupid idea.
Cordelia:
— What are you talking about? I agreed to your plan.
I knew the risks when I accepted it.
Don't treat me like someone ungrateful who complains just because things didn't go as expected.
We're all risking our lives here. So stop talking nonsense!
Adrian:
— Yeah, you're right... sorry about that.
So... what did you find back there? — Adrian asks, curious.
Cordelia:
— Well, I managed to find swords, armor, and a magic tent — one that's huge on the inside.
It'll stop us from being without shelter when night falls.
Adrian:
— Really? That's great!
Cordelia:
— Adrian, there's something I need to tell you... and it might be related to your parents.
Adrian:
— My parents? What do you mean?
Cordelia:
— You know, Adrian... I was thinking...
It's practically impossible for two ordinary people to have so many magical items.
Potions, swords, armor... maybe they could have found them somewhere.
But that diary... you don't just find something like that in any random shop.
So... they might have been very powerful heirs.
Adrian:
— Now that you mention it... you're right.
There's a lot that doesn't make sense when you think about it...
Cordelia:
— And there's something else: your body.
Adrian:
— My body?
Cordelia:
— Yes. If you had a normal person's body, you would have already died.
And even if you had survived, you'd be in a coma for a long time.
Instead, aside from some pain, there's nothing seriously wrong with you.
Adrian:
— Okay, but what does that have to do with my parents being heirs? — Adrian asks, confused.
Cordelia:
— That was my fault... I didn't explain it earlier because I thought you didn't need that knowledge yet.
But... Adrian, you know that when someone inherits a divine legacy, the stronger they become, the more their life level evolves?
Adrian:
— Yeah... so what?
Cordelia:
— Well, when a strong heir has children, they are born with characteristics of that inheritance.
But... since they only inherit part of it, they can only use about fifty percent of their parents' power.
Also, they can't perform Divine Possession like full heirs can.
Adrian:
— So... you're telling me I might have inherited some kind of power? — Adrian asks, shocked.
Cordelia:
— Yes.
