Chapter 24 - The Duel

The day proceeded rapidly, Seth attended all three classes scheduled for the day, and nothing special happened for the rest of the day.

As for Dayo, he was missing throughout the day, Seth suspected that he must have been busy with his awakening.

Bring!

The closing bell rang, and Seth ended up walking back to the dormitory alone, apparently, Valesco was a clean freak with a severe OCD condition so he went back to take a bath, meanwhile Gerald went to the clinic for reasons unknown.

Thus leaving Seth to walk alone. Getting back to their tiny abode Seth wasted no time logging in back into the virtual library.

Then he started performing a set of exercises recommended by the system, according to the system, exercises could help his body assimilate faster, allowing him to proceed to the third phase faster, and so that's what he did.

It was rather boring and painful to do the same thing for hours but he had no choice, right now he was under a lot of pressure he had to catch up to all his peers as he was far behind, and he also hadn't forgotten about his scheduled duel, but thanks to the lieutenant in charge, he wasn't going to have the duel anytime soon.

Right now he had set a goal for himself to leave Class D by month's end, and also before then he had to find trusted individuals to whom he could impart cultivation techniques.

He hadn't forgotten the main reason he was sent to the past, it was to empower humanity, though he couldn't go around distributing the manuals as that would bring him unnecessary trouble, so he decided to start small.

When he was strong enough he would be able to share this knowledge without much discretion, but for now, he had to be careful, he couldn't forget the systems warning.

Hours passed and Seth logged off, the fatigue he accumulated had started to affect his mind, as the system said, whatever he did within the virtual library would affect his physical body so this wasn't only a boon to him but it also had its cons like now he couldn't continue anymore cause he had reached the limit of his physical endurance.

Opening his eyes he saw a familiar face wearing a wide grin while gazing at him. It was Dayo, he was back.

"hehe bro you're finally awake, I could barely restrain myself from waking you" Dayo spoke his voice seething with excitement.

Seeing his giddy roommate Seth grinned as he sat up. "let me guess you have finally awakened."

Dayo grinned mysteriously at Seth's statement "Not only that, after awakening I bested my sister in combat." finishing his statement he puffed up his chest in pride.

Seth's eyes widened in astonishment "Wait does that mean…"

Dayo nodded "Yes I can now leave the D class, in fact, my sister estimated that I could go toe to toe with the little admirals"

Raising his brows in confusion Seth asked "Little admirals?"

Slamming his palm on his face, "Man I forgot you're new here, little admirals are the nicknames given to the students of class S, it's said that they have bested multiple vice admirals in combat, which then led them to be dubbed little admirals." by the time Dayo finished speaking the room door opened as their roommates walked in.

On seeing Dayo their eyes lit up with interest not even giving them time to get on their beds Dayo started telling them all about his awakening, it was obvious the boy was very happy.

But even though Seth was happy for him he couldn't fight the fatigue weighing in on his mind anymore as he fell into a deep slumber with the echoes of Dayo's voice getting fainter and fainter, but just before he completely drowned into the deep embrace of sleep he hears a statement Dayo made.

"I know you guys would hardly cope without me, I mean you are all just a bunch of introverts, so I've decided to stay back for a little while, you guys have to get stronger as fast as possible so that we can all be promoted together."

After listening to this statement Seth had a thought 'It seems I don't need to look too far after all' and after this thought his mind shut down plunging into a deep slumber...

…..

Days passed…

Seth was still in the second phase, so he continued with his exercises with the hope that he could progress soon, Dayo was always missing after class, and he would then come back late at night exhausted bruised, and as for the remaining two they didn't do anything special just carrying about their usual routines.

It was the same for the rest of the school everyone went about their own business, giving the school a somewhat peaceful atmosphere, well that was until…

One day during a sunny afternoon, the sun radiated a scorching flare though it was underground, this phenomenon was present as a result of the ability of the lieutenant in charge, and this very day was Seth's ninth day in the academy.

Encased in the artificial sun's illuminating flare the academy building stood peacefully, but that was disrupted when…

"SYRON CHACE OF CLASS C I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!" a loud voice echoed around the school building…

And this noise was all it took to garner all of the student's attention as they all left whatever they were doing and moved to the battlefield that was located right at the back of the school, of course, class S was exempted from this as they hardly showed to these duels except if one of them were challenged, other duels of lower classes weren't enough to attract their attention.

But this wasn't the same for Seth and the rest, as the hoards of students gathered around the field, their curious gazes trained on the lonely figure standing at the center of the field.

Seth recognized who it was right away it was the captain of their class.
