Chapter 28 - The Hidden Function

Within an office, two figures stood, speaking in hushed tones. Had Seth been here, he would have recognized the setting—it was the very first office he stepped into on his arrival at the camp. This was the domain of the lieutenant in charge.

"I saw a pure-blooded Bane today," the young man stated, his voice like a blade slicing through the silence. "Why am I only finding out about this now?"

If Seth were present, he would have recognized the speaker—the very man who had obstructed him not long ago. And the man standing across from him? The lieutenant himself.

The lieutenant frowned. "Young Master, the Bane family is a divine family of the righteous path. It's hard to believe they would send a pure-blood child to such a desolate region."

Then, a thought struck him. His expression darkened. "Wait… Young Master, you wouldn't be talking about Seth Bane, would you? If that's the case, there's no need for concern. Even I was suspicious when I first heard his name, so I conducted a thorough investigation. His origins are undeniable—he comes from Elyon."

The young man didn't react. He merely stared at the lieutenant, as a dense killing intent encroached on the atmosphere.

A chill ran through the lieutenant's spine as he trembled faintly.

The young master finally spoke. His voice was calm and casual but laced with a looming menace. "I have practiced my Blood Graph to the master level. Do you know what that means?"

The lieutenant swallowed hard but said nothing.

"It means," the young master continued, his tone sharpening, "I could trace your bloodline back nine generations if I wished. With just a little effort, I could see your ninth ancestor, sketch his face in my mind as if he stood before me."

A suffocating wave of killing intent saturated the room, pressing down on the lieutenant like an iron grip around his throat. Cold sweat trickled down his temple, dampening the collar of his uniform.

"So now, tell me, fool—do you think I could mistake the blood of our worst enemies?"

The words coiled around the lieutenant like a venomous serpent, squeezing the air from his lungs. His lips parted, but no words escaped. He knew why the young master had been sent to such a remote region. A punishment. A test. And yet here he was, eager to prove himself worthy once more.

"Create an opportunity for me today." The command was final. "I want to claim his head."

The lieutenant didn't dare protest.

The young master's lips curled into a dangerous smile, one devoid of warmth—an expression that spoke of satisfaction, cruelty, and the thrill of violence.

"I want to see the look on those old fogies' faces when I bring home the head of a pure-blooded Bane."

With that, the young master turned and strode out slowly, leaving the lieutenant behind—shaken, drenched in sweat, and painfully aware that failure was not an option.

Back at the training center…..

[Alert!! The host has encountered the perfect match for the cultivation art, Divine Spirit Vision…]

Looking at the notification Seth was bewildered.

To think there was a cultivation technique that paired greatly with Valesco's ability.

Meeting Valesco's gaze with a solemn face Seth spoke "Actually I have something that could make you stronger." Then he paused this time his expression became deadpan and serious before continuing "Now it's my turn to ask. Can I trust you, Valesco Griffith"

Sensing Seth's serious mood Valesco pondered for a moment then with a resolute expression he replied "As long as you can get me out of my current predicament, I promise to keep whatever it is you want to tell me to the grave."

Seth was just about to speak when…

[Alert! Hidden requirements met.]

[Host can now bestow the individual Valesco Griffith, the cameraman's apprentice title…]

'huh? Wait what?' Seth exclaimed inwardly astounded, what function was this?

The system never stated anything about such a function.

'system what is this title of a thing?' Seth couldn't help but ask.

[The title function, is a hidden function that allows the host to bestow titles upon trusted followers, making it easy to impart knowledge and granting special abilities of a cameraman to them.]

[The host is going to be the greatest cameraman in the universe, it's only natural he had apprentices and more.]

"...." Seth was rendered speechless. The system is almighty indeed!

This function was going to save him a whole lot of trouble I'm the future.

Speaking about the future Seth's heart quickened in expectation, it seemed the function the system listed previously wasn't all what the system could do, he still needed to unlock some hidden functions…

Meanwhile, Valeaco was beginning to get nervous as he saw Seth's long silence as hesitance, 'what can I do to make him trust me more?' he pondered nervously.

After all, it was understandable if Seth couldn't trust him apart from sharing the same room they barely knew each other, so he could see why-

Suddenly his thought process paused, his eyes gazing at the empty void in shock.

As an interface that only he could see presented itself…

[Congratulations, you have been chosen by the Cosmic Camera Man, Seth Bane…]

[You have been bestowed the title 'The Camera Man's Apprentice (The Editor).]

[Do you accept Y/N]

Eyes wide, mouth agape Valesco was shocked beyond imagination.

He met Seth's mysterious gaze, and he swallowed hard, suddenly the question Seth asked earlier now sounded more ominous.

Gazing at the inconspicuous camera hanging on Seth's neck, he had a feeling he was about to step into something beyond his understanding.

And only a fool would step into the unknown, unprepared at that…

He knew this but…

His heart couldn't help tingling not with fear, no it was a burning passion within him, a passion to grow stronger, a passion to surpass his brother, a passion to reach the peak.

A part of him he had suppressed cause of his weakness, but know an opportunity was dangling in front of him, and unknown or not he would be damned if it passed him by.

Due to his rapidly palpitating heart, his face was flushed red, and his eyes radiated a crazed light.

Seth knew that look very well of fact he could understand what Valesco was feeling right now, the feeling of stepping into the unknown, such an exciting feeling it was.

He didn't need much brain power to guess what his answer was.

Buzz!

[Individual Valesco Griffith has accepted the title the'The Camera Man's Apprentice (The Editor).]

[Congratulations host has accepted his very first apprentice.]
