Yi Luowa returned to the room, staring at the relationship chart placed on the bed. She picked up a pen and drew a big cross over Tong Airui's name.
She gazed at the name she had crossed out. She could still distinguish the voices of Yuan Hang and Tong Airui. She was one hundred percent certain that the person who had called her was Tong Airui. She also guessed that the one who saved her was him. But since he didn't want to admit it, she was even less inclined to bring it up. She absolutely didn't want to treat this man she never wished to see in her life as her savior.
Yi Luowa tapped his name with her pen, suddenly thinking he was so childish! Making up a lie about winning a lottery, and then asking her what she absolutely didn't like? When she finally figured out why he was so persistent in asking her this question, Yi Luowa narrowed her eyes dangerously—what an idiot! He was trying to mess with her!
There was a knock on the door outside. Yi Luowa turned her head to look and saw Mi Chenxuan standing in the doorway with a cheerful smile. She quickly said, "Come in!"
Mi Chenxuan walked in with two baskets of fruit and glanced around the room. "Why are you here alone? You're still injured; it's not safe to be by yourself!"
"There's a caregiver, but I like quietness. I only call her when I really need help." She didn't dislike the boy in front of her, so she said a bit more than usual.
"I bought you some fruit. What do you like to eat? I'll wash it for you." Mi Chenxuan placed the fruit baskets near Yi Luowa, letting her choose.
Yi Luowa glanced at them. "Whatever you like to eat, wash that. I don't feel like eating anything right now."
Mi Chenxuan looked down at her. "Did you have dinner yet?"
"I did."
Mi Chenxuan glanced mysteriously at the door, making sure no one had followed him. He squatted down and asked in a whisper, "What's going on between you and my fourth brother anyway? Yuan Hang was being vague about it, but... my fourth brother's... uh... that thing... did you really break it?"
Yi Luowa hid her hands behind her back and rubbed them forcefully. "Can I choose not to answer that question?"
Mi Chenxuan chuckled sheepishly. "You're just a little girl; I probably shouldn't be asking you this. But you know what? The less someone wants to tell you something, the more you want to know. If you don't figure it out, it just gnaws at you."
"Then go ask your fourth brother." Yi Luowa shot him a glare.
Mi Chenxuan immediately shook his head. "I wouldn't dare. When he gets angry, he's like a killer."
"Eighth Master, Fourth Master wants you for something." Yuan Hang lightly knocked on the open door, looking at the two people inside.
Mi Chenxuan stood up reluctantly. Just as he was about to leave, he turned back. "Do you have a pen?"
Yi Luowa shook the pen she had in hand.
Mi Chenxuan took the pen, noticing a piece of paper on the bed, and picked it up casually. "I'll write my phone number for you. Call me if you need anything."
Yi Luowa quickly grabbed the paper filled with names from him. "Use your phone to call mine. Isn't that much easier?"
"Oh yeah, what was I thinking?" Mi Chenxuan said, immediately pulling out his phone and inputting a string of numbers. Moments later, Yi Luowa's phone rang.
Yi Luowa looked at him deeply. "No wonder you only left your number and didn't ask for mine—you already knew my number!"
Mi Chenxuan laughed. "You're a lucky customer of Zhuoyuan Mobile. Getting your phone number is as easy as reaching into a bag."
"Yuan Hang, why haven't you called Eighth Master yet? Fourth Master is already fuming." Mi Chenshuo's voice came from outside.
Mi Chenxuan pursed his lips. "I'm leaving. Make sure you call me."
Yi Luowa couldn't help but laugh as she watched his hurried retreating figure. Was that Tong, the infamous Fourth Brother, really as scary as they claimed?
At the doorway, Mi Chenxuan turned back to look at Yi Luowa. "Hey! Why did you cross out my fourth brother's name? Are you sentencing him to death or something?"
His voice was so loud that Yi Luowa froze instantly!
Mi Chenxuan left the room with a mischievous grin.
"Did she cross out my name?" As soon as Mi Chenxuan stepped into the room, Tong Airui asked.
Mi Chenxuan nodded vigorously. "She wrote all our names on a piece of paper. I'm in the center, you're in the top right corner, and then she drew a big cross over your name."
"That girl is too smart, not easy to fool." Mi Chenshuo listened and shot a look at Tong Airui, clearly enjoying the drama. "What do you think?"
"Mind your own business!" Tong Airui adjusted his position and slowly laid down again. "You all can leave. I'm going to sleep."
"We're not leaving now that we're here." Mi Chenshuo stood up and glanced into the caregiver's room. "There are two beds in there; I'll bunk with Chenxuan. Seventh Brother, you can head to your office to sleep."
Mai Zekai lounged leisurely on the sofa. "I'm sleeping right here tonight."
"Suit yourself." Mi Chenshuo snorted and headed into the caregiver's room.
The brothers were asleep past midnight when Tong Airui suddenly opened his eyes. A shadow slipped swiftly through the door.
"Master..." Yuan Hang leaned close to Tong Airui's ear and whispered something.
After listening, Tong Airui narrowed his eyes slightly. "Wake up Seventh Brother..."
His voice grew softer as he spoke, and Yuan Hang nodded repeatedly before hurrying to the sofa to wake Mai Zekai.
After watching the two leave, Tong Airui clenched his hand tightly under the blanket.
Two hours after Yuan Hang left, cries suddenly echoed through the hallway, catching Tong Airui's full attention.
"You lied to me! My second uncle isn't dead, he's not dead! Uncle Li, let me see my second uncle—let me see him!"
"What's going on? I think I heard that girl crying." Mi Chenxuan ran out barefoot.
"Don't go out!" Tong Airui ordered in a deep voice.
"Fourth Brother, that girl is crying—crying about her second uncle!" The crying outside intensified, and Mi Chenxuan grew increasingly distressed. "Why won't you let us go out?"
"Chenxuan, if your fourth brother is doing this, he has his reasons. Go back to sleep!" Mi Chenshuo emerged from the room.
"I won't! Can't you hear how pitiful she sounds?"
"What does her pity have to do with you?"
"Brother—why are you and Fourth Brother so cold-blooded!" Mi Chenxuan dashed barefoot toward the door. As the door opened, a strange man grabbed his wrist tightly.
"Let go!" Mi Chenxuan shouted in agitation.
"Carry him inside," Tong Airui commanded coldly.
The man said nothing, hoisting Mi Chenxuan onto his shoulders and walking into the caregiving room.
"Let me go! Let me go! Mmph!" The man covered Mi Chenxuan's mouth with his hand.
"Second Uncle, what will happen to Luowa if you're gone? Why did you leave her behind like that..." Yi Luowa's wails abruptly stopped.
"Doctor, my young lady has fainted!"
Hearing this, Tong Airui pushed himself up in bed, wanting to sit. After hesitating for a long time, he finally lay back down.
