Chapter 26 - Chapter 021: Hidden Mysteries in the Ears

Ao Lie quickly switched the video feed, and Yi Luowa froze momentarily as she looked at the person in the video. Wasn't this the middle-aged version of Mi Chenshuo?

"Chairman Mi of Zhuoyuan!?"

"It's him!"

"Everyone quiet down and listen to what Chairman Mi has to say."

Xi Meichen stared at the screen showing Mi Xiaotian, her hand clenched beneath the table so tightly it cracked. For so many years, Zhuoyuan and the Yi family had never interfered with each other's affairs—why was he jumping in today?

"Hello everyone, I am Mi Xiaotian. At the request of an old acquaintance, I must abruptly interject into your PCW board meeting. I'm here for one reason only. On behalf of myself, I make this promise to all of you—I will provide unconditional support to Yi Luowa in managing everything at PCW, until the day she can truly stand independently."

"Thank you, Chairman Mi!" Uncle Li was so moved he was on the verge of tears.

"With Chairman Mi supporting Luowa, what do we have to fear? I stand with Luowa!"

"Luowa is, after all, Second Master's lawful heir. We also stand with Luowa."

"Mi Xiaotian is a man of Zhuoyuan—aren't you afraid he might change PCW's name someday?" Xi Meichen stood up as she spoke.

Her words quickly garnered agreement from several board members. Instantly, those aligned with the two camps began quarreling again.

Seizing the moment, Xi Meichen turned to the screen and questioned Mi Xiaotian sharply, "Chairman Mi, are you coveting PCW as well?"

"In your eyes, PCW may be a treasure, but to me, its value isn't enough to tempt me into ill intentions. Xi Meichen, people may act, but heaven sees everything. You can even completely destroy your own daughter—how ruthless would you be with your employees? I can guarantee that after this meeting, anyone standing with Yi Luowa will surely be eradicated under your takeover. Chairman Xi, am I right?"

"And can you guarantee that those who speak up for me today will be retained by Yi Luowa?"

"That decision rests with Yi Luowa. I'm only here to support; she's the one who ultimately holds power."

Those who had previously backed Xi Meichen glanced at Yi Luowa.

Yi Luowa raised her hand and pointed toward the silent Huang Jakuan, mouthing, "The only person I will fire is him! Because he betrayed my second uncle. If anyone feels they need to leave with him, I won't stop you. But for those who choose to stay, I promise to treat you well. I'm confident I can lead PCW toward greater success. I want my second uncle smiling in the heavens as he watches us reach new heights."

Uncle Li looked painfully at Yi Luowa and addressed the group, "This child just lost her dearest family member and can't even speak audibly. But what has her biological mother, Xi Meichen, done in this critical moment—you all know, don't you?

She forced Luowa to sign two documents: one to renounce their mother-daughter relationship and the other to forego her inheritance rights to her father's assets. Following this, Xi Meichen continued to emotionally torment her own daughter, demanding she sign over PCW to her. With such a venomous-hearted woman, can you still side with her?"

"Such a malicious woman—we absolutely cannot side with her! Uncle Li, translate what Luowa just said for us." An elder board member stepped forward as the first to take a stand.

Uncle Li, choking back tears, repeated Yi Luowa's words verbatim.

After listening, the elder board member said to everyone, "Luowa has made her intentions clear. Now, anyone who supports her, stand by me. Those who wish to follow Huang Jakuan should move to Bai Shengming's side. Let's conclude this meeting quickly—the child is still unwell; we can't press her too hard. Moreover... Uncle Li needs to focus on handling Second Master's final arrangements."

With tears glistening in his eyes, the elder board member finished speaking, and many others started crying as well. Everyone quickly took action, and in the end, only three people stood behind the younger board member Bai Shengming. Yi Luowa achieved a stunning victory with an overwhelming majority.

Seeing the tide turn, Xi Meichen rose to leave.

Uncle Li said coldly, "Chairman Xi, why hurry off now? Isn't it better to hear me out before you go?"

Xi Meichen cast him a venomous glance. "You're nothing but a dog. Do you really think anything worthwhile comes out of your mouth?"

Uncle Li was unfazed by her words and instead laughed out loud. Turning to the large screen, he said, "Now that everyone has decided where they stand, I have an announcement to make."

All eyes turned simultaneously toward Uncle Li.

"Second Master is still alive!"

Second Uncle is still alive! Yi Luowa pinched her thigh hard. Pain! She wasn't dreaming—Second Uncle was truly alive!

The scene on the big screen erupted in cheers, with many shedding tears of joy.

Huang Jakuan stared at Uncle Li in disbelief.

Already at the door, Xi Meichen faltered, nearly falling over. How could this be? Could she have acted too recklessly and stumbled into someone's trap? But how could a mere child and a coarse man possibly outmaneuver her? Who was backing them?

Suddenly, Xi Meichen turned her gaze to the top-right corner of the screen, where Mi Xiaotian's image vanished the moment she looked over.

He was smiling—smiling as he stepped away from the computer. That smile was a warning! Xi Meichen clutched her collar tightly, struggling to catch her breath. People may act, but heaven sees everything—that was his message to her!

Just as Mi Xiaotian's image disappeared, Yi Weiyang's image appeared on the big screen, his bedside crowded with over a dozen doctors in white lab coats.

Huang Jakuan looked repeatedly but couldn't see a single doctor he'd brought in. His face turned ashen. They had already suspected him long ago, not using even one of his people.

Among the crowd of doctors, Yi Luowa immediately recognized Mai Zekai.

It was him—was this all arranged by him? Yi Luowa subconsciously rubbed her pants with her fingers.

"The doctors beside Second Master are all top-tier luminaries in the medical field. Let's all wait for good news," Uncle Li said, casting a sideways glance at Xi Meichen, still gasping while clinging to the doorframe. "Someone tried to pull out Second Master's oxygen mask—they wanted him dead. But Second Master has a strong life force!"

Xi Meichen froze, her body stiffening. After a pause, she braced herself against the wall and walked out.

Yi Luowa glanced at Xi Meichen's departing figure, tugged at Uncle Li's sleeve, and after mouthing something silently to him, Uncle Li smiled and said to the elder board member on the screen, "Old Pu, Luowa said she'd like to ask you to oversee affairs for the next few days. Let's manage the company well and wait for Second Master to recover."

"Of course! You take care of Second Master and Luowa over there, and I'll keep things in order here," Pu Jiaming said firmly. "Uncle Li, you must not let the person who harmed Second Master get away!"

"I will find the culprit as soon as possible!"

The news that Second Master was alive was cause for great celebration. Everyone dispersed with smiles, while Huang Jakuan fled in disgrace.

After the others left, Yi Luowa grabbed Uncle Li's hand, suddenly stood up, and reached toward his ear. "I need to see just what you're hiding there!"
