Yi Family Villa
Xi Meichen held the phone in her hand, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window of the bedroom. The moment the other end finished speaking, tears streamed down her cheeks. "Are you sure Yi Weibang is dead?"
"Yes, he and the driver were killed instantly in the accident!"
"What about Yi Weiyang?" Xi Meichen tightened her grip on the phone.
"His head is injured. He's still undergoing emergency treatment. The doctor said that even if he survives, there's a high possibility he'll end up as a vegetative state."
Xi Meichen wiped away the tears from her eyes and hesitated for a long moment before asking, "What about Luowa?"
"That girl really has a tough life. She was unconscious when rescued, but surprisingly woke up after arriving at the hospital. Meichen, you should head to the hospital now."
"Alright." Xi Meichen hung up the phone and stepped out of the bedroom.
Yi Lingfei stormed upstairs as if she'd gone mad. "Mom! Something happened to Dad!"
Xi Meichen's tears streamed uncontrollably. "I just got the call too. I'm heading to the hospital. I need to see your father."
Yi Shaoqing heard the crying of his mother and older sister and emerged from his room. "What happened?"
"Dad's gone! Waaa..." Yi Lingfei clung to the staircase and wailed. "I kept saying Yi Luowa was a sweeping star, but you all refused to believe me. Now Dad's gone... Waaa... This time, you'll believe me for sure!"
Xi Meichen stumbled slightly, and Yi Shaoqing quickly supported his mother. He yelled at Yi Lingfei, "What nonsense are you talking about? How could something happen to Dad!"
"Xiao Xia's mom works at the hospital. I just arrived at their house when her mom called Xiao Xia and said something happened to Dad! Yi Shaoqing, you don't have a dad anymore! Do you understand? That sweeping star killed Dad!"
Yi Lingfei cried while ranting, and Yi Shaoqing instantly panicked, mechanically turning to his mother, who was overwhelmed with tears and sobs. "Mom, tell me my sister's lying!"
"Lingfei isn't lying!" Xi Meichen slowly withdrew her arm from her son's grip. "We're going to the hospital to see your father."
The mother and her two children got into the car as Xi Meichen silently wept.
Yi Shaoqing buried his head in his arms, curled up in his seat, and had been completely shattered by the news.
Yi Lingfei continued crying and ranting. "I'm going to tear Yi Luowa apart! I swear I'll tear her apart!"
The Central City Hospital, ninth floor, with all four operating rooms lit.
Sitting on the long bench outside the operating room was a young man, around twenty or twenty-one years old, swinging his legs idly.
"Which operating room is Yi Luowa in? Don't let her get treatment! I want her to go accompany my dad in the grave!" Yi Lingfei had barely stepped out of the elevator when she began crying and shouting.
The young man turned his head toward the sound, his brows furrowing into a tight ridge. "Qiu Hong, are all the people you bring here insane?"
Mi Qiuhong waved his large hand, and the ten people standing in the corridor hurried over to block Yi Lingfei. "Miss, please stop shouting!"
"Get out of my way, all of you!" By this point, Yi Lingfei had completely lost her sanity, shoving at the people in front of her. "I want that sweeping star to pay for my dad's life!"
The young man impatiently dug into his ear. "Throw her out!"
At his command, the ten people grabbed hold of Yi Lingfei and began dragging her toward the staircase.
"Wait!" Xi Meichen slowly stepped out of the elevator. "Please release my child. She just lost her father and is struggling to accept it."
The young man shot her an annoyed glance and turned his head to ask, "Qiu Hong, who is she?"
"Chairwoman Xi from the Yi Group," Mi Qiuhong replied and nodded toward the young man.
The young man tilted his chin toward the operating rooms. "She's connected to the people inside?"
"Not sure, Fourth Master didn't say much—just told us to save them."
"Then throw her out too. They're irritating me!" The young man leaned back on the bench and resumed swinging his legs.
Mi Qiuhong twitched the corner of his mouth before swiftly walking toward Xi Meichen. "Chairwoman Xi, may I ask if you know the people in the operating rooms?"
Xi Meichen glanced at Mi Qiuhong and then at the man on the bench. "My uncle and my daughter are in the operating room. It seems you are Mi Chenxuan from the Mi family? Do you know my uncle?"
Upon hearing his name mentioned, Mi Chenxuan glanced at Xi Meichen briefly and resumed shaking his legs.
Mi Qiuhong offered a sheepish smile. "Chairwoman Xi, our family's Eighth Master is young and immature. Please don't take offense. We don't know the people inside, but we were entrusted to assist."
Xi Meichen's eyes shifted slightly, and tears streamed down her face. "Thank you so much! This is such a huge tragedy for our family. Once things are settled, I will personally visit to express my gratitude. Since I'm here, you don't need to trouble yourselves further."
Yi Lingfei impatiently interjected. "Mom, why waste words with them! This is our family matter. Tell them to leave, and don't let anyone operate on Yi Luowa—I want her dead! I want her to accompany Dad in the grave!"
Mi Chenxuan, who had been halfway out of his seat, sat back down after hearing Yi Lingfei's outburst.
Xi Meichen noticed Mi Chenxuan's subtle reaction and cast her daughter an unhappy glare, admonishing her in a low voice. "Shut up!"
"Mom—"
"I said shut up!"
Mi Chenxuan lazily curled his lips, pulled out his phone, and started playing a game. Fourth Brother had trusted him with a task, and if he messed it up, he'd lose all face with Fourth Brother.
Mi Chenxuan had only been playing his game for three minutes when one of the operating room doors suddenly opened. Ao Lie stormed out in a rage, coldly sweeping his gaze over the crowd before heading straight toward Mi Chenxuan. He bowed deeply. "No words can express my gratitude. Once Second Master and the young lady recover, we will definitely visit to thank you personally!"
Mi Chenxuan glanced at him briefly before turning away. "The thanks aren't meant for me. I was simply carrying out someone's orders."
"Dream on! My dad's dead—none of them are getting out alive!"
The moment Yi Lingfei's words fell, a doctor chased Ao Lie out, yelling, "Are you crazy? You still have so many wounds that need stitching, and you're running around!"
"I'm not dead yet!" Ao Lie shot back, turning to Yi Lingfei. "Shut up! One more word, and we all die together today!"
"Shut your mouth!" Xi Meichen glared at her daughter in warning and quickly approached Ao Lie. "Let the doctors continue treating your injuries. I'll handle this here."
"No need." With a calm voice, Yi Luowa was pushed out of the operating room in a wheelchair, her head wrapped in bandages.
"Sweeping star! Why aren't you dead yet?" Yi Lingfei's eyes turned bright red the moment she saw Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa acted as if she hadn't heard, lifting her gaze toward Ao Lie. "Go back in and get treated."
"Luowa—"
Yi Luowa raised her hand slightly. "This may not be our territory, but let's see who dares cause trouble here!"
That piercing gaze, that steady tone—everyone turned toward her, stunned and disbelieving that such words had come from a nineteen-year-old girl who had just barely escaped death.
