Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Night Raid

The figure was none other than his former supervisor, Liu Junjie, from before the apocalypse!

Liu Junjie thought he was well-hidden, but little did he know that Meng De's vision had been enhanced far beyond that of an ordinary person due to the system's potion.

If he wasn't mistaken, that person was indeed his supervisor from before the apocalypse.

He knew where Meng De lived and the fact that he was sharing the apartment with the two sisters.

Just to be safe, Meng De decided to search Building One tomorrow to eliminate any potential threats.

But tonight, it was best to stay vigilant to avoid any mishaps.

In the apocalypse, no amount of caution was excessive!

Any carelessness was a disservice to oneself!

Glancing at the time, it was already 2 a.m.

At this hour, when most people would be at their sleepiest, Meng De felt no drowsiness at all. Instead, he was unusually alert and energetic.

Despite having spent the day exploring and engaging in a "battle" in the afternoon, he felt no fatigue. On the contrary, he was brimming with energy.

He estimated that this was partly due to his awakened abilities, which had elevated his physical condition far beyond that of an ordinary person.

Another reason was the effect of his newly acquired skill, the Starry Night Walker, which doubled his recovery rate at night!

Of course, this didn't mean he no longer needed sleep, but it did mean he could stay up for a night or two and still function normally the next day.

It was somewhat like automatically entering a deep sleep state at night.

So, by now, the energy he had expended in the "battle" with Jia Yi in the afternoon had almost fully recovered.

In fact, he even felt that he could handle another woman right now!

Oh no!

Make that ten!

At this thought, Meng De felt a surge of heat building up inside him.

Just then, as he opened his eyes, he saw a woman in a cool, pink, strappy nightgown, revealing her alluring shoulders, walking toward him.

In the candlelight, her figure moved like a sprite in the night.

Her lace-trimmed nightgown just covered her enticing hips, revealing a pair of long, shapely legs.

She was utterly captivating!

However, a single sentence extinguished half of his rising desire.

"Brother-in-law?"

The woman in the nightgown was none other than Chen Jiayao!

His nominal sister-in-law.

"It's Yao Yao!"

Chen Jiayao's figure was already exquisite, and the nightgown only accentuated her slender, perfect physique.

"Brother-in-law, why aren't you asleep yet?"

Her voice was truly pleasant.

Tilting her head, her puzzled expression was rather adorable.

Meng De hadn't planned to tell the sisters about it, not wanting to scare them, and had intended to handle it quietly.

But since she had discovered him and asked, Meng De decided to share what had happened during the day and his suspicions.

Her first reaction wasn't fear but a look of gratitude.

"So... Brother-in-law, you're staying up late to protect me and Elder Sister, right?"

Well... that wasn't entirely wrong.

Before he could respond, the girl started crying and, in the next moment, threw herself into his arms.

"Wahhh"

"Brother-in-law, you're so good to us sisters!"

Chen Jiayao's tears flowed freely, quickly soaking a patch of Meng De's clothes.

[Ding! Congratulations, host, the goddess Chen Jiayao's favorability towards you has increased by 10, current favorability: 45!]

But this wasn't the most critical part. The most critical part was that when this girl cried, her body trembled along with it.

And to think, she was in his arms at that moment!

This was going to be the death of him!

The fire that had just subsided flared up again, burning hotter and hotter.

His gaze towards Yao Yao gradually changed.

With a swift turn, he pinned the woman in his arms onto the sofa. The straps of her dress slipped down, revealing her fair skin, as smooth and delicate as mutton-fat jade. He grabbed the ice silk nightdress, ready to tear it open.

But just then, he keenly heard the growls of zombies from downstairs.

It was like a bucket of ice water poured over his head, instantly sobering him up.

His premonition wasn't wrong; someone was indeed coming!

Meng De reacted swiftly, immediately making a gesture to Yao Yao in his arms.

At this moment, it was unclear whether Yao Yao understood, but her little face grew redder and redder.

Just as he was curious about what was happening with Yao Yao, he heard her whisper in a voice as faint as a mosquito's.

"Brother-in-law... your..."

As she spoke, she pointed with her slender, jade-like finger.

Holy crap!

Meng De abruptly stepped back, finally realizing what was going on.

Embarrassed.

Meng De's face turned red!

So unworthy!

So utterly unworthy!

But with the thought of someone downstairs heading towards them, he didn't have time to explain too much. He quickly instructed,

"Yao Yao, someone's coming!"

"Don't speak, stay quietly in the room, and lock the door!"

"Don't open it unless I call you, understand?"

His words immediately made Yao Yao understand the situation. Ignoring the blush on her face and the exposed scenery, she quickly said,

"Mhm, mhm, Brother-in-law, be careful. Elder Sister and I will wait for you at home."

Her words were full of worry, and after hesitating for a moment, she added with a red face,

"If... if something happens to you, then Yao Yao won't live either..."

As she said this, Yao Yao's worried face was filled with determination.

Meng De found it somewhat amusing.

This girl was adorably foolish. He couldn't help but stroke her hair.

"Don't worry, trust me, your brother-in-law will be fine."

After speaking, Meng De quickly went to the window to look downstairs. Sure enough, he saw a group of dark figures.

With his Starry Night Walker skill, he was completely unaffected by the darkness of the night.

There were about a dozen people, who had already passed through the zombie horde and entered Building 5 where he was.

After a moment of thought, Meng De chose not to move the furniture blocking the door. Instead, he glanced downstairs. The height of the 15th floor was undeniably terrifying.

One misstep, and it would be game over.

But he took a deep breath, and the next second, he disappeared from Yao Yao's sight.

This scene made Yao Yao's heart race, and she almost screamed. Fortunately, she quickly leaned over to the window to look.

She saw her brother-in-law safely entering a unit downstairs, and only then did she breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Downstairs, Dao Ge's men, led by his younger brother Wang Xiaohu, were quickly making their way upstairs.

The guide was none other than Liu Junjie, Meng De's former supervisor!!!
