Bonnie lead the crew to an open-air bar that was serving multiple customers. Fáfnir saw another group of Lizardfolk clapping and cheering as a Lizard-man with magnificent horns danced atop a table. The name Bellamy could be heard from the crowd, and the one he assumed to be Bellamy jumped off the table and looked directly at the group before calling out loudly, "Sister, brothers, come join us in celebration of your return!" Bonnie waved for her brothers to join her other brothers, instructing them to tell Bellamy she would be busy for a while, having a larger focus group Fáfnir took note that all the Lizardfolk he could see where dark green with Black hair on their heads and traveling down their neck.
"Big Family," Fáfnir noted, counting fourteen Lizardfolk in total with the inclusion of the five he had already met.
"Hm?" Bonnie seemed confused at the statement before laughing, "Oh, no, I'm sorry, I keep forgetting; Lizardfolk customs are far different from human ones. My brothers and I share no blood bonds, but I do believe the turn of phrase for humans is either comrade or friends.
"Oh," Fáfnir looked back and made sure his count was right before speaking again. "Still, it seems like a lot of Lizardfolk. Why'd you all set up camp here?"
"It is customary for Lizardfolk to leave their swamp of birth for several years before returning and forming a new clan, but when it came time to do just that, Brother Bellamy declined the call, and we simply couldn't leave without him,"
She let out a sad sigh, "But as luck would have it, Bellamy's rebellious phase saved us all; our home swamp was invaded not but a few months later and has since then been transformed into a human city; only three others managed to survive the purge as far as we can tell, they brought us the bad news. In total, we have sixteen males and four females, counting myself, my sister and two of my brothers; the missing numbers from the group, are all out doing odd jobs,"
"Twenty in total?" Fáfnir noted.
"Yes, we left our swamp in a group of twenty-seven; Bellamy was the original captain and the co-captain, who was to lead in the event of Bellamy dying or choosing to stay, will forever be remembered in our hearts, along with the brothers and sisters we lost with him,"
"I'm sorry for your losses," Fáfnir replied in a polite tone.
"Sorry," Bonnie replied in just as polite a tone, "I imagine one doesn't become a Hermit without experiencing some form of loss themself,"
"That's not untrue," Fáfnir noted as he followed Bonnie to the large building in the City wall. Halfway to their destination, they stopped at a building that let out the sweet smell of cooking meat and boiling vegetables.
Bonnie and Fáfnir had to wait only a moment when a large humanoid man walked out to greet them. He was absolutely ripped, standing almost eight feet tall, with dark green skin, little spikes on his knuckles and shoulders, and large sharpened tusk like canines.
The man that Fáfnir would have bet just about anything on being an Orc had a very cheerful tone.
"Bonnie," he greeted, "I see you bagged that Ogre for me; who's your little friend making it fly?"
"This is Fáfnir," She turned to Fáfnir so the Orc could get a good look at him. "Fáfnir, this is Norm; he's the owner and head chef of the Canine Cafe,"
"Interesting name," Fáfnir noted as he looked at the two blade like tusks that where the orc upper canine teeth.
"Three guesses as to where I got it," Norm chuckled. "So, did this Fáfnir assist in taking Big Blue down?"
"He actually tricked it into taking itself down," Bonnie chucked at the memory of the Ogre cleaning its own clock.
"To be fair, that has never once worked, although it may have just been a remarkable idiotic ogre, I kind of feel bad for it honestly,"
"Well, don't feel too bad; it's an invasive species, pretty sure our neighbors in Marvana set them loose to try and cause trouble," The Orc shook his head, "but that's just my theory. Thanks for letting me get a look at it before you sent it up to be processed; now I'll know if they try to skim some of the fat off the top," Fáfnir chose to hope he was being metaphorical and didn't ask Norm to elaborate as he wished them well and returned to his home.
"I've never met an Orc before,"
"Actual, he's a Lowland Orc," Bonnie clarified, "A plain Orc would have features reminiscent of pigs and boars, while Highland Orcs are oranger and have overbites. Make sure to remember the difference; it's considered very offensive to get it wrong."
"Good thing I kept my mouth shut," Fáfnir noted as they continued to the guild hall; Fáfnir was introduced to several more creatures who made their livings inside the guild area and was introduced to the term Humanimal. An all-inclusive name for anthropomorphic animals, he was introduced to a Humanimal Rabbit girl named Marcy, who was friends with Bonnie, and a Humanimal Ferrit man named Gitto, who was apparently one of the guild doctors, after the customary passing of names they mostly talked to Bonnie before moving on.
"You're popular," Fáfnir noted.
"Unfortunately," Bonnie agreed, "If you see a man in plate male with a one-shouldered blue cape, tell me so we can avoid his dumbass," Fáfnir kept an eye out but didn't see anyone matching the description, he did try to spy any other beast-men similar to what he was, but was met with only human like creatures or bipedal animals.
Fáfnir had to wait outside with the ogre as Bonnie went in to get the master of the guild for introductions. Fáfnir crossed his arms and leaned against the wall as Bonnie left.
