"That was so cool," The Lizad-man he had saved called out.
"Thank you…um, you?"
"He's Flint," The Lizard-Woman informed him, "That's Felix, Finn, and Fry," As far as he could tell, they all had easily identifying features: Fry had two little horns sticking out of his tied up brown hair, Finn had tail spikes, Felix had little chin spikes, and Flint had three little spades running down either side of his upper-snout.
"My name is Bonnie," She stared at him for a long moment; after a moment, he looked over to the other Lizards, wondering why they were staring before it hit him as Truke-kun had, they were waiting for his name, having only a few moments he decided that, since he was in another world, the story of Fáfnir was unlikely to exist, so he went for it.
"I'm Fáfnir," He greeted.
"Took you a moment," Bonnie chuckled. "Are you sure that's your actual name?"
"I've had several names," Fáfnir noted awkwardly. "It just took me a moment to pick one that wasn't me mistaking an insult as a nickname,"
"Owch," Bonnie slightly flinched as Fáfnir used his old life experience to form an excuse, remembering a nickname he'd had during high school that he had later found out was just another way of calling someone a rat.
"Yeah, let's just say I'm a hermit for a reason." Fáfnir looked over to the ogre, and as he did so, Bonnie decided something.
"Alright, I'm officially calling it, you're not a pervert,"
"What am I then?" Fáfnir asked suspiciously, half expecting to be called something worse, half expecting to be cleared of all charges.
"A man who's never seen a lizard with tits before," Bonnie decided.
"Not anymore, I'm not," he noted as he looked back at the ogre. The four Lizardfolk were converging on it. After they finished ending the ogre's life, the brothers began preparing the kill for transport.
"True," Bonnie agreed. "Now, Fáfnir, would you mind helping up transport our quarry? Once we reach the guild building, I'll be sure to help you register and have your part in the battle added to your record; it should at least let you start at copper rank over bronze, maybe Iron if I can sweet talk 'em,"
Fáfnir's response was to reach inside the long cloak. As he did so, he was pleased to feel his hand slipped into his inventory from the game, he rummaged around for a moment before pulling out an ivory wand with a decorative bird on its end.
"Up," he commanded of the ogre, resulting in it going stiff as a board and floating several feet in the air, "Alright, that's done,"
"Woah," Fry muttered,
"Wish I could do that," Finn complained as the ogre floated over his head.
"I have like a hundred of these things," Fáfnir noted. "You guys want one. They have a cool down in between uses but no time limit while activated. Frankly, they're cluttering up my inventory,"
"Ah," Bonnie seemed interested. "You have a magic cloak. How much can you carry in there?"
"Enough that I've never felt homeless even without one," Fáfnir decided; as he began passing out bird wands to the Lizardfolk, he took note that they did, in fact, have to carry the items on their person. Indicating his in-game inventory was more of a unique skill now than something everyone just had,"
Bonnie tucked the wand away into her belt and took the lead as her brothers played with their new wands, they made it to the road and began traveling in the same direction Fáfnir had originally been going.
Focusing mostly on keeping the ogre from getting caught on any wayward branches, it wasn't until they reached the end of the forest that Fáfnir was able to take in the sights properly.
A massive stone wall surrounded the parts of the town not bordered by the lake. The lake itself had houses surrounding it to call it a town. Several dirt roads splintered off from the brick ones, and a fair number of humans and human-like creatures were walking around. Several stopped and stared at the floating ogre, but none attempted to stop or speak to them.
Not too far from the town, the brick road split away. One path continued to the town, while the other twisted and turned towards several distant mountains.
Bonnie led the way toward the city. However, once they got closer, she led them away from the entrance, where a few guards were checking out a small number of people who wanted entry. Instead, Bonnie led them around the outer walls until they were at its farthest edge.
To Fáfnir's surprise, a section of the city was hiding outside the wall. A massive building the size of a train station jutted out of the wall. It was so large that parts of its roof rose higher up than the wall itself. A large clock ticking away near the tallest point indicated it was just a little past five o'clock, though Fáfnir took note it was numbered to 15 instead of 12, successful robbing him of his sense of time.
The area surrounding the building had a little wooden wall, plenty big but made puny by the mountainous wall it was attached to. Bonnie approached a set of closed gates, and a couple of guards near the top waved to her.
"I see the hunt went well," A man called out, "How'd you get it to float?"
"I made a new magical friend," Bonnie called back up, "Could you call the guild ahead of time for me? They're not registered, and I'd like to fix that,"
"Alright, but keep a close eye on them until then. I don't want 'em causing any trouble." Upon giving the warning, the gates swung open just enough for the ogre to fit through and swung shut as soon as they were all inside.
"Welcome to the grounds," Bonnie declared as Fáfnir looked around. Just like with the lake, a fair number of numerous creatures were walking about, but unlike the lake, all the creatures were combat-ready. "Home to all Advenures, be they residents or just passing through, and If it catches your fancy maybe your new Home, Now Follow me" Bonnie lead and Fáfnir followed with the rest of her crew.
