"Well, let's go introduce you properly to Bellamy; I should warn you he gets attached easily, so if he starts calling you brother, you'll have a hell of a time finding a different team,"
"You mentioned I might receive Iron rank earlier?" Fáfnir prodded Bonnie for information as they made the journey back to the open-air bar.
"Oh yeah, since you're from lands un-traveled, I guess the guild system isn't something you'd be aware of. Usually, it would take several days and test for someone without any tales to join a guild; luckily, you had a hell of a story about an ogre, so you got to skip most of the boring crap; ranks from lowest to highest are Bronze, Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Mythic,"
"That's a lot of ranks," Fáfnir muttered as he tried and failed to remember them all.
"You'll get a chart with all the ranks once you get your guild card; it's a built-in feature, so you'll always have a convenient way to remind yourself which is which,"
"Seems like a lot of levels,"
"There are a lot of adventures out in the world," Bonnie replied. It's one of the top five most sought-after jobs across the entire continent. Bronze and Copper ranks receive thin cards made out of their ranks' names, while all other ranks receive a pin made out of theirs. Bonnie pointed to her waist, and true to her word, acting as a belt buckle, she had a golden medallion on her belt.
"How high ranked are you among your brothers and sisters?" Fáfnir asked curiously.
"Marko and Starla are our sweet little weak links, both stuck in the Iron ranks; everyone else, save for Bellamy and I, are in the Silver ranks, and Bellamy holds his title as our big brother for a reason, at the moment he's one of only nine Diamond ranks in Namfam, we have a single Mythic ranked team of four who I recomend you avoid,"
"So I'm about as strong as Marko and Starla?" Fáfnir asked.
"No, but Iron is the highest rank one is allowed to start at regardless of how many tales they have to their name; I'm willing to bet you'll be joining me in Gold within the month,"
"Oh boy, expectations," Fáfnir couldn't say much more as they arrived at the open-air Bar, and Bonnie took point.
Bellamy welcomed her home, and she pointed her thumb behind her shoulder. Bellamy jumped off the table and motioned that it was now hers. Bonnie got up, took a deep breath, and called out to her brothers and one sister who were present.
"Everyone, this is Fáfnir," She motioned to him, and all eyes were set on him. "He is a new member of the guild, and because I recommend him he'll be joining our team for the foreseeable future, treat him with respect,"
The Lizardfolk gathered round and looked at Fáfnir skeptically. Bellamy held the most stony expression as he inspected Fáfnir from afar. Suddenly, one of the men stepped forward, and to no one's greater surprise than his own, Fáfnir realized he knew who it was.
"Hey! How's the wand treating ya' Finn?" Finn looked just as shocked as Fáfnir felt at being recognized, but his four tail spikes gave him away, as the only other Lizard with tail spikes only had two. One of the others stepped out of line, and the pleasant surprises kept coming when he saw the little chin spikes, "Yes, I remember your name Felix," A third one stepped out, one with four small horns, and Fáfnir called his bluff, "If you're trying to fool me into thinking your Fry you'll have to half the number of horns you're got,"
"Dam," the third guy replied before making his official decision on Fáfnir. "This guy can tell us apart! Not even the waitresses can do that!" Having successfully piqued their interest, the Lizardfolk gathered around Fáfnir, each trying to introduce themselves, only for Bellamy to step forward.
"Alright, don't crowd him," They all stepped back as Bellamy offered his hand to Fáfnir, who shook it.
"Welcome Fáfnir, I'm Bellamy, and since Bonnie recommended you. I welcome you to my team; I'll leave your jobs to Bonnie since I trust she has plans for you, and as for you lot, the guy can tell us apart. Still, I doubt our names will all stick if we try to give all of them at once, split into your usual groups. Bonnie will sort out who gets to go with Fáfnir so he can properly remember your names. If, after that, he can name us all without too much effort, I'll consider letting him stay past the trial period," Bellamy nodded before dropping all pretense of seriousness.
"Now, let's get wasted!"
