Chapter 8 - Trouble after trouble but cute trouble.

We have set our camp to rest for the night. Unexpectedly, demons attacked us we successfully drove them away.

Everyone looks tired, so I offered to help with cooking.

" Do you remember how to cook?" My dad asked.

" I haven't forgotten everything. I remember simple things like this." I answered.

To my surprise, he believed it. After some time, I have finished cooking. In my life I have never cooked for many people. I almost messed up. Maipakpi and Leina helped me too.

We decided to rest after eating. It was a quiet night and cold too.

In the morning, we set out on our journey again. It will take us 1 more day to reach the teleportation portal.

It was nothing special that day either.

The sun was starting to set, so we decided to camp. While everyone was busy, I sneaked out.

I was walking and I heard a waterfall. I went in the direction from which the sound was coming.

It was a beautiful waterfall. I was so mesmerized by its beauty that I forgot about the time. The water sparkles like a diamond in the sunset. No poet will ever be able to present this beauty in books.

When I decided to head back, the sun was almost gone. So I rushed back.

To my surprise, everything was quiet. Everyone was sleeping like a dead body. I was scared. I tried to wake them up nobody was responding. When I checked their pulse, they were still alive.

When I looked around, I saw small animals were all asleep.

I heard bustling in the bush. Fear fills my heart.

Suddenly, something jumped out of the bush. I close my eyes.

Nothing happened when I opened my eyes slowly. I saw a dog. It was so small and its fur was green.

It was growling at me. When I look closely, it was not a dog but a small creature I don't know about. But it looks so cute.

It looks so guarded. But I have a soft spot for cute things.

I took out some food and offered it to some. But it didn't eat it. It has sharp teeth, maybe meat will do.

So, again, I took out some meat and put it in front of it. It came slowly towards it and ate it. It looks so cute while eating. I slowly went towards it and pet it.

Almost forgot about them. I tried everything to wake them up. I poured water over everything I could think of I did.

I was tired, so I sat down. The sun has set, too. The little creature followed me everywhere I went. It then sat down with me. Looks like we have became friend.

I was worried about what to do. Then I heard some grumbling, it was my father who had woken up. Everyone was slowly waking up, too.

I ran to him and asked, " Dad, are you okay?"

" What had happened?" He said.

" I don't know either," I answered.

When they were all woken up, their gaze fell on that small creature.

" No wonder." My dad said.

"What?" I said.

" It's a demon, but it's a low-level one. It can release something in the air that makes people fall asleep. I'll get rid of it." He said.

He got up and walked towards the little creature. I stood before him and said, " No, Dad, you can't kill him."

" What are you talking about? It's a demon." He said.

I requested, " Can I keep him?"

" No," He firmly answered.

I pleaded, and at last he said yes.

" It will be a troublesome creature. It's known for its naughty behaviour. And as it is a demon, you have to form a pact with it. If not, it will never recognise you as its owner." He continue.

" Are all the demons the same?" I asked.

" Yes, and feed your blood to form the pact, but it can only happen if it wants to." He added and left to set up the camp. It was already nighttime.

Everyone became busy with their work. I expect some people to say no to this matter, but nobody did. Looks like it was common to form a pact with a demon.

Manipakpi, Leina, and I were sitting, circling the little creature. It was playing in the middle. I want to squish it very hard, but it was so small.

I took out a dagger I borrowed from my father. I cut my hand on the palm and fed the blood to the creature. I was worried it might not accept it, but it did. And as soon as it licks my hand, my wound heals without a scar. Both of them look shocked.

" What should I name it?" I said.

"It looks so cute. I want to hug it." Maipakpi said.

Leina didn't say anything as her attention was taken over by the little creature.

Both look busy in their own world. I was brainstorming some names.

" Furball," I said suddenly.

Both of them look at me. And Maipakpi said, " You have a bad naming sense."

" Then I'm going with Furball," I said, smiling.

" Do whatever you want." She said.

Soon we were called for dinner. But tonight, no demons attack us.

Korounganbi was next to me, working. Maipakpi and Leina have already gone to sleep. Furball was also sleeping on my lap.

I asked her, " Korounganbi, what's the capital like?"

" I've never seen it either." She said.

I continue, " How many villages will be present there?"

" 5, and the special thing is that all villages have their unique way of using magic and fighting. We specialised in fighting with weapons." She answered.

" How was I before I lost my memories?" I suddenly said it out of nowhere.

She said, " Very different, you were a very shy person. You would often get teased for it. You prefer to stay away from people. You always thought you were weak, so you actually hated swordmanship and its magic. But you have changed so much,h you are a very cheerful person now."

" Oh," I said. Maybe she was bullied too, but never expressed it. I know that feeling, I was like that when I was a child. But those experiences have made me tough.

" My lady, I think we should rest too." She said.

I nodded and went to rest, carrying Furball in my hands. This little thing is my responsibility now. Tomorrow I think we will surely reach the capital.
