Chapter 11 - Marriage no way.

My father had to leave for the village today, leaving us here. We had to stay here for the training.

My father didn't want to leave me here, but he couldn't defy the king. He had no other choices.

Before going back, I was called by my father to discuss something. I was not sure what he wanted to discuss.

When I entered the room I only expect my father to be there but to my surprised Tyler and his father were there too.

As I entered the room, my father called me in to sit with him.

He said to me, " I want you to engage to Thouba."

" Who?" I asked. I don't know anyone here with that name.

At that, Tyler looked surprised. My father continued, " Looks like we haven't introduced you two."

Turns out he was talking about Tyler. I said, " I refused."

He scoffed and said, " I refused, too."

His father attempted to convey the significance of this marriage to him. My father and his friend wanted to join the two families.

Tyler said, " I'll not get engaged to her."

"And I would rather marry a stranger than marry him," I said.

Both of our fathers really wanted this marriage to happen. But it is something that will never happen in my time.

They stop their persuasion. They were getting too ready to leave. Korounganbi was also leaving.

" I'll miss you," I said to her.

She said the same thing.

Before leaving, my father said, "Take care of yourself. I will not pressure you about marriage anymore, but I advise you to reconsider. My friend suggested it, so I couldn't refuse it."

" Oh, and here, take it." he handed me a book and continued, " You wanted me to teach you swordmanship and magic. I can't teach you right now, but this contains all the information about it."

After that, he left, and I was called for training.

I was guided to the training ground by a servant. Everyone was already there.

I saw Maipakpi and Ningthibi, and I went to them. The environment was lively.

The instructor appears. He introduced himself as the head magician of the royal palace. He had long black hair and was tall.

He first provided us with clothing that was suitable for fighting. We all changed into that. It was comfortable to move in it.

He brought out a crystal ball. He explained it was to measure our magic level. The powerful we are, the more it will shine.

Maipakpi said to me, " I heard the princess is pretty powerful."

" Why are you saying that to me?" I asked.

She answered, " Just if you wanted to know," and she smiled.

Even the princess will get scared if she sees Ryker's real self. One by one everyone started doing there test.

Maipakpi's magic was average. Nignthibi was quite low. Jane was pretty normal. Thaja was pretty much average. Mary, surprisingly, her level was higher than the average. Tyler was also higher. And so Victoria, too.

It continued until it was Tamphasana's turn. Her level is higher than anyone else's. She looks proud.

Some circle her and start praising her. She then starts telling how she has trained so hard from childhood. She was already famous among others.

Next was Ryker, who placed his hand on the crystal ball. His hand was just placed when it started glowing in a bright light. It was glowing brighter than anyone else. Which means he has a higher level than anyone else here.

The instructor started praising him, saying it was rare for someone to be so powerful.

Finally, it was my turn, I was so nervous. I placed my hand on the crystal ball. To my surprise, nothing happened.

The instructor said, "It's weird. Even if someone doesn't have magic, it glows a little bit. Why is it not glowing at all?"

I heard some people laughing, saying I didn't even fit the lowest standard.

When the test was finished, the instructor announced, " We will be doing some exercise for the start-up and first learn weaponry before you learn magic."

Then a strong-looking man appeared. The instructor, " He's the general and he will be teaching you weaponry. " And he left after that.

The general starts our exercise first. Not lying though it was damn hard. But not that too hard, but when I look at others, they look like they will pass out any moment.

It was different for Ryker, he looked completely fine. The princess was overly impressed.

We were given breaks after that as we were resting. Victory approached me and said, " I didn't know you would use such a dirty trick to get Tyler."

" What the hell are you talking about?" I said.

" You use your dad to try to get engaged to Tyler." She said.

" First of all, my dad wasn't the one who proposed it. Secondly, I reject it. And sorry girl, I have no interest in wasteful things."

She was fuming in anger, but didn't continue and left.

Mary, who overheard the conversation, said, " I thought you would seize that opportunity when it came. Or maybe you got rejected again."

She wanted to mock me. How could she let go of this chance?

I said, " Unlike someone I ain't no bitch and meddle in other business cause i had nothing better to do."

She got angry, but before anything could happen, we were calmed down by our friend.

She gets on my nerves every time. I was just blind at that time. I fell for Tyler just for a small kind gesture. I was naive at that time.

I don't know why she hated me so much, but if she had started it, then why not let's play?

We were again called by the general. He then started giving lessons on sword fighting.

While we were training, I overheard people talking, " Do you know that princess offered to help in defeating the demon lord just because of Ryker. She wanted to know about him and get close to him."

I stopped suddenly, I almost got hit by Ningthibi's sword. She said, " What are you daydreaming about?"

The general scolded me, " Why aren't you focusing? Even if you don't have magic, you could still learn some swordsmanship."

While he was scolding, I heard a sword clashing. When I look away, Ryker and Tyler were having a sword fight.
