As Adeppa learnt about his brother in-law, he became furious. He tried to get up from the bed in fury but was stopped by Karunakar. Karunakar ''Uncle, please don't try too hard. We actually suspected that all these are happening behind your back and you'll be kept in dark given your character.'' while holding Adeppa and slowly made him to lie on the bed. Adeppa asked their servants to immediately bring his brother in-law at once. Four servants went to look for him. Adeppa's daughter brought them buttermilk and some light food to have. They thanked her and had them.
After a very short time his brother in-law came and asked him '' Adeppa brother in-law, what happened? I was told to come here immediately as soon as I get your message. Is everything alright?''asked as if he's worried about him. Adeppa tried to get up and sit. This time Karunakar made sure to support him well. Adeppa sat on the cot and huffed with anger and ''Govardhan, I've just come to know that you've been collecting copra forcefully and even paying them lower rates than usual. What's happening in the factory?''asked furiously. Govardhan flinched a little and regained his composure in no time,'' brother in-law, it not like that. I think you're misinformed about this. Nothing like that is going on at the factory. I've always payed them the right amount and never had forced them. You can ask anyone at the factory.''trying to maintain his face hiding his nervousness. Adeppa became even more furious ''don't you dare to talk like that. These people came from my most trusted friend. They went to the factory before coming here, and I've come to know the situation at factory too.'' Adeppa paused a little, '' no wonder most of my friends didn't come to visit me. You've been stopping them from visiting me, fearing that your secret will be exposed.'' Govardhan ''it's not like that please...please do listen to me. I just told them you need complete rest and restrained them from visiting you. I did this for you and your daughter. Don't blame me for something I didn't do.''
Adeppa scoffed at Govardhan's shamelessness '' for me and my daughter? What a joke. Govardhan, let me tell you in case you've forgotten about this, but my daughter , Lalitha has been managing the factory accounts for eight years now, from when she was just 9 years old. She's now at home looking after me and leaving everything to you. Do you really think you can do something for her?'' Adeppa told while glaring at Govardhan in a flat tone making him go weak on his knees. Govardhan fell down on his knees and looked scared ''brother in-law, please forgive me. I just got my eyes blinded by money. Please forgive me I will not repeat it again please...''pleaded him so pitifully. As Adeppa was about to speak , Lalitha stepped up from behind Siva, carrying a powerful aura around her, who did not look like that a moment ago when she brought them snacks and drink, stood in front of Govardhan '' Uncle, please get up'' , Govardhan reluctantly stood up and fidgeting, couldn't bear to look at Lalitha or Adeppa in shame. Lalitha continued '' uncle you can manage the factory as you are doing now, but I will be coming twice a week. I will not be telling the days I visit but twice a week, I'll be sure to visit the factory. You know what happens when I find a single mistake, right?'' She told that normally but sounded more like a warning to him. Adeppa looked at his daughter so proudly, and looked at Siva and Karunakar bragging about his daughter with his eyes and a little smug.Siva and Karunakar were also mesmerized by her spontaneous decision and grace she's shown just now. They were ready to step up if Govardhan showed a slightest hint of violence, but thankfully it's over peacefully. Adeppa looking at Siva ''Siva thank you for notifying this to me. I wouldn't have known if you hadn't come here.'' Siva replied '' actually you should be thanking Muthyalaiah uncle, after I suggested changing the dealer, he couldn't bring himself to do that we 've come all the way here to directly hear from you.'' Adeppa nodded and smiled with full of satisfaction about his friends trust on him. Adeppa'' I will send him a letter later.'' Govardhan left with shameful look.
As they were chatting Lalitha grasped information about Karunakar's visit. Lalitha '' Mr. Karunakar, from what you've been talking till now, is it okay if I assume that you are searching for honest mosambi dealers?''asked him directly without any hint of hesitation. Karunakar looked at Siva and turned his gaze towards Lalitha ''yes Ms. Lalitha. After finishing our work here we planned to look for them.'' Lalitha nodded a little,'' if you would like, I would like to introduce you to a friend of my father who deals with lemon and similar items. I vouch for his honesty and sincerity in dealing with any type of business.'' Karunakar looked at Siva ''what do you say?'' Siva'' I don't think we'll lose in this deal. Again if we find any differences we can call of this at anytime, right?'' Karunakar expression said okay. He turned to Lalitha '' thank you Ms. Lalitha.'' ''Okay then. I will talk to him and negotiate regarding your terms and product payment. We'll be sending you a letter after the completion of the deal. You can come then and have a final talk with him.'' Karunakar impressed again at her decisiveness. Karunakar nodded and thanked again. Siva thanked her. Adeppa would have felt his chest coming out from his body if he heard this conversation but sadly he was sleeping soundly right next to them. As they finished Karunakar's reason for his arrival, they were about to get up and take leave for the day and rest in a dorm. Lalitha stopped them and insisted them to stay at their house during the entire period of their visit. They agreed reluctantly. After that she prepared the food , all of them ate to their fills and took rest.
Next day went smoothly, the meetings were more fruitful than the last time, as they gained a new friend. They set out their journey after bidding farewell to Adeppa and Lalitha. They sat on their bullock cart with satisfied faces and rode that cart happily back home.
