Chapter 39: Determining the Mastermind
"Alright." Gwen took off her Mask, shook her hair, and looked at Yang Le who had just walked out of the Portal, asking, "Now can you tell me about your findings? Detective."
"I wouldn't dare to call myself a Detective, but I do have some guesses." After returning to the Base, Yang Le also canceled the Transformation. "First of all, Mr. Matt definitely didn't tell us the truth."
"I could guess that too." Gwen crossed her arms and leaned against the wall beside her. "But we don't know which of his words was a Lie."
"No, Gwen, it doesn't matter which of his words was a Lie. We just need to know that he lied, or concealed something."
Gwen obviously didn't understand, and she asked doubtfully, "What do you mean?"
"Every cause has its effect. Think carefully, Gwen, why Uncle George was assassinated. Has he offended anyone recently?"
In fact, Yang Le already had the answer in his mind, but in order to train Gwen, he chose to guide Gwen to say the answer herself.
Gwen pondered for a while, and suddenly thought of something, and quickly said, "That Terrorist! My dad has been investigating the person who bailed out that Terrorist recently, and he seems to have made some Achievement recently."
"That's right, someone who has the Ability to bail a Terrorist out of Prison is very likely to have the guts and Ability to assassinate a Police officer who wants to investigate him."
Yang Le affirmed Gwen's guess, and then continued. "So now our current goal is very clear. Who is the person your dad was investigating? That person must be the source of all evil. Do you have any Clue about this?"
"My dad has already scolded me once because of this." Gwen grabbed her hair angrily.
"Don't worry, Gwen." Yang Le reached out and put his hand on Gwen's shoulder to comfort her. "If one path doesn't work, you can go around it. Don't forget, we have another Clue."
"You mean..., Matt Murdock?" Gwen said uncertainly.
"That's right, our Lawyer Murdock's Reputation is not that good. Do you remember who he works for?" Yang Le looked at Gwen encouragingly.
Gwen looked into Yang Le's Eyes, and under encouragement, slowly said the Name. "I remember it was mentioned in the Newspaper, it seems to be called Wilson Fisk?"
"You can also call him—Kingpin, that's his Name in the Underworld, a person with extraordinary power." Yang Le came to the Operation Console and brought up Kingpin's Photo. A burly, bald, white man appeared on the Screen.
"Fortunately, Kingpin fits several points of our previous speculation. Power, ambition, and guts, he lacks none of them. If he is really the mastermind, then Matt is definitely not as simple as we thought. I speculate that Matt is very likely to be the Leader of The Hand, so tonight's Warehouse ambush can be explained."
"Who would have thought that Daredevil, who fights The Hand in other Universes, would become its Leader in this Universe." Yang Le sighed.
"I know this person." Gwen looked at Kingpin's Photo as if she had thought of something. "His Photo is hanging on the Whiteboard in my dad's Room."
"It seems the answer is already obvious." Yang Le nodded and then summarized. "Uncle George investigated the case and found out about Kingpin. This angered Kingpin. Kingpin ordered Matt to get rid of Uncle George, and then Matt sent out The Hand Ninja."
"It should be like this, that's right." Gwen, who got the answer, immediately became excited, and her watery Eyes were filled with joy. "Next, we just need to arrest Kingpin and bring him to justice."
"I'm sorry, Gwen, arresting Kingpin, it should be impossible to do now." Yang Le said from the side.
"Why?" Gwen looked at Yang Le doubtfully. "He is the murderer who attacked my dad."
"There is no Evidence to prove this. If you want to arrest him, you must have decisive Evidence." Yang Le spread his hands helplessly. "Of course, if you want to use Vigilantism, then pretend I didn't say anything."
Gwen opened her mouth, but didn't speak, tightly clutching the Mask in her hand, and finally let go and sat weakly on the ground. "If we use Vigilantism, then what's the difference between us and those guys."
'Actually, I think killing that guy should be considered doing good deeds.' Yang Le looked at the depressed Gwen, thought about it, but still didn't say it, and had to walk over and sit down beside Gwen.
Gwen hugged her Legs and buried her Head in her Arms. Yang Le walked over and she didn't look up. Until Yang Le sat down, she just leaned her body against Yang Le's body, and didn't speak.
Yang Le was not someone who didn't understand romance. He put one Arm around Gwen who was leaning on him. Her golden long hair brushed across his neck, a little itchy.
Maybe because she had been wearing the Mask for a long Time, plus the reason for the battle, a faint Sweat smell mixed with the Smell of Shampoo entered his nose, to be honest, it was a bit intoxicating.
Yang Le couldn't help it, and put his nose close to Gwen's Head and took a few sniffs. Gwen's body stiffened first, and then she jumped up like a startled Cat, distancing herself from Yang Le.
"What are you doing, Habby!" Gwen, her face flushed, covered her Head with her right hand and looked at Yang Le in shock, her tone full of disbelief.
"Sorry." Yang Le looked at Gwen awkwardly. He didn't know how to defend himself either. He couldn't say that your Smell is too good, making people intoxicated, right?
The two were speechless, and stared at each other for a long Time. In the end, Gwen took the lead to break the awkward atmosphere. "I'm not in the mood to mess around right now, Habby." Gwen sighed and said dejectedly.
Gwen's mood was very complicated now. Being messed with by Yang Le like this, her low mood did not disappear, and another emotion came in. Now the two emotions were mixed together, making her heart as uncomfortable as if a Cat was scratching it.
"Sorry." Yang Le apologized again. "Actually, I wanted to say something else just now, but suddenly I don't know how it became..."
"OK, OK, let's forget about the scene just now." Gwen reached out to stop Yang Le from continuing. "Let's talk about what you wanted to say before."
"Ahem, I actually wanted to say, you don't need to be so anxious, Gwen." Yang Le coughed and tried hard not to think about what happened just now. "Since we have guessed the mastermind, we just need to wait for him to show his weakness."
"Are you sure?" Gwen looked at Yang Le suspiciously.
"I'm very sure." Yang Le nodded affirmatively. "According to my understanding of Kingpin, we don't need to go to him specifically. He is a master who can't stand loneliness. He will come over himself."
In fact, this sentence also applies to all Supervillain.
"Believe me, Gwen, have I ever told you a Lie?" Yang Le stood up and walked towards Gwen, wanting to get closer to talk.
Seeing Yang Le walking over, Gwen covered her Head and subconsciously took a step back. This step made Yang Le freeze in place. "Uh, sorry, Spider-Sense's fault." Gwen explained awkwardly.
