The battle continued, or rather, it was a one-sided massacre.
Lucifer was completely overwhelmed by Reina, he couldn't win against the girl even though more than 20 battles had passed. He didn't have a single chance against the girl.
While Lucifer was panting and drenched in sweat, Reina just stood there, doing nothing but watching Lucifer's miserable scene. Luckily, she didn't mock Lucifer, turning him into a laughing stock.
In more than 20 battles, Lucifer was only able to hit Drifting Aurora once, and the rest of the time, he was the one who was beaten like a punching bag by the girl. In this battle, Lucifer had become a walking punching bag for Reina to beat up as she pleased.
Although he was angry, Lucifer couldn't do anything to the girl. He had to admit that he was weaker than Reina.
Reina was both rich and a hundred times stronger than him. Lucifer couldn't imagine a scenario where he could defeat her in a fight. Or at least not at the moment.
If Lucifer trained harder in the future, maybe he could defeat Reina?
Just like that, that day's training ended.
***
In the days that followed, Lucifer was tortured both physically and mentally. He had to train all the time, and the intensity of his training had increased greatly.
Lucifer both wanted to die and didn't want to die.
Every day was the same. He woke up tired and with a sore body, and went to sleep with his body completely useless, not being able to do anything anymore.
But the truth was that these hellish training days had helped Lucifer improve a lot. But he still couldn't appreciate it even a little bit.
'When will this period of time end?'
Luna tiredly glanced at the calendar in his room, which he had found in a warehouse and had received Owen's permission to hang in his room.
Today was December 15th.
Half a month had passed since Lucifer awakened the system and completed the first Trial. But he couldn't feel happy since he only had 15 days left before the second Trial began.
Lucifer wasn't sure whether he would be able to survive and complete the second Trial. But since there would be many others doing the Trial with him, Lucifer could rely on them.
He would just hide somewhere and wait for those people to end the 2nd Trial.
'But it seems like the 2nd Trial will involve all the people who awakened the system this year in this country, right?'
***
There were only 10 days left until the 2nd Trial began. But instead of training to death like usual, Owen took him and Reina somewhere today. According to Owen, they were going to buy Artifacts to prepare for the 2nd Trial.
Lucifer had been extremely excited about the trip, but having to sit next to Reina in the car had reduced his excitement by half.
But luckily, everything went smoothly, Reina didn't curse him or do anything to him. She was just quietly admiring the scenery outside the car window.
She was indeed very beautiful.
The luxury car stopped at a bustling shopping mall with a lot of upper class people coming and going. So this was where Lucifer would buy the Artifact for the 2nd Trial?
Lucifer jumped down eagerly and immediately ran towards the shopping mall.
"Wait Lucifer, where are you going? We're not going to that shopping mall."
Lucifer stopped right away, he turned towards Owen, his eyes seemed to say: If we don't go to that shopping mall, where the hell are we going?
Owen seemed to understand what Lucifer was thinking. So he pointed towards a white van that looked extremely ancient and no one dared to approach it. That van was indeed very special. It was no different from a pile of trash surrounded by expensive gems.
All the people who passed by that van looked at it with disdainful expressions. They didn't have the slightest bit of sympathy for that thing.
No matter how Lucifer looked at it, it was just a broken down van that deserved to be thrown into the landfill right away.
Lucifer began to doubt Owen a little, but the man still walked towards the white van calmly.
"Hey Morris, are you in there?" Owen knocked on the door a few times.
After a while, the door slowly opened. Revealing an extremely large space inside. This space was as large as a store even though it was just an old broken down van on the outside.
Lucifer was stunned, not knowing what to say when he saw the space inside.
What caught Lucifer's attention was not only this large space but also the piles of Artifacts displayed everywhere.
Suddenly, Owen tapped him on the shoulder, pulling Lucifer back to reality, helping him remember the purpose of their coming here. Lucifer didn't come here to sightsee, he came here to prepare for the 2nd Trial.
Lucifer turned to Owen and asked:
"Hey Owen, what should I buy? This is my first time coming to a place like this."
"Here, take the money and buy whatever you like." Owen gave Lucifer 200 dollars.
Lucifer's eyes widened, he was extremely surprised and joyful. Lucifer had never held so much money in his life. The money he had saved up in the slums for many years was only a little over 50 dollars, yet now he received 200 dollars so easily like this.
Lucifer had never felt this rich before.
Owen was truly a living Buddha.
But Lucifer's joy could not last long. Most of the Artifacts here were priced at 500 dollars or more. The most expensive one was around 2000 dollars.
The amount of money Owen gave him was too little.
The only thing Lucifer could buy was an Inventory Ring that could bring items from the Trial outside but could not bring items from outside into the Trial, for 50 dollars.
Drifting Aurora's situation was not much better than Lucifer's. She only received 100 dollars, which was even less than him. Therefore, she had to choose an Artifact that was both useful and cheap.
'Isn't she a member of a world-famous clan? Or is it because she already has more Artifacts that are even better than these things at home?'
Lucifer didn't really care about Reina, he needed to find an Artifact that was both cheap and useful. An Artifact that would be extremely helpful to him in the 2nd Trial.
Of course, that wasn't easy.
They often said cheap was bad. So the cheapest Artifacts here weren't really any good.
Just as Lucifer was about to give up and go to the checkout counter, Nothing suddenly jumped out from his shadow without his permission.
Although Nothing always jumped out of Lucifer's shadow without permission, he would always notify Lucifer in advance, but this time Nothing jumped out of his shadow without warning Lucifer.
"Hey Nothing, why didn't you tell me about your appearance?"
Lucifer asked, but Nothing didn't answer. He was focused on looking at a certain Artifact, not paying attention to his surroundings.
Curious, Lucifer picked up the Artifact Nothing was looking at. It was a red ring, nothing special. The name of this Artifact was Unknown Ring, and it only cost 10 dollars.
