Chapter 11 - Ch 011 - First Step

Few months have passed since I came to this world, and I finally got to overcome the most difficult challenge throughout my journey.

That's right. This is the wall which newborn babies will soon have to face and overcome: walking.

At first, I tried to stand up without any support around me. I kept falling to the ground because this baby body hasn't unlocked the ability to balance its body. But after so many failures, so many downfalls, I finally got to balance my body and stand up straight.

Then, I tried to take my first step. By putting strength to my left leg to lift it up, I used my right leg as a pillar which stood firmly on its foot. By spreading the strength to my right leg as I lift my left leg, my body is immovable. I felt like a wall at that moment. However, I wasn't done yet.

Thanks to my combat experience from my previous life, I have learned the ability to share information with my muscles in a matter of millisecond. By sharing the crucial plan to the entirety of my muscles, they are able to perceive the next course of action.

As my left leg was about to touch the ground, my right foot spread most of its strength with my left leg so that as the foot touches the floor, the body won't fall forward. That is the reason why I left a few forces to my right leg, because giving too much force in the left leaves the right open, and too much power could lead to downfall of this body.

My whole body anticipated the fall as my left foot touched the floor. But much to my surprise, nothing had happened. A joyful expression slowly creeped on my face, but I quickly shook my head because the battle was not yet finished.

That's right. I glanced at my right foot. I could hear my whole body screaming: "DON'T YOU DARE FALL."

By doing the same process, but in reverse, I was able to move my right foot forward, lining my toes to the line. And finally, as I successfully took my first step, the whole room bursts in joy and excitement of my victory.

Finally... I could walk.

But complacency is what defeats a soldier.

As I tried to take another step forward, I lost control of my muscles. The balance between each of my muscle groups trembled. Then, in a split dramatic second, my body fell face first on the ground.

The room quickly became filled with sorrows, worries, and defeated looks.

I… became complacent.

I lowered my guard down for a moment. How shameful of me.

That's right.

I used to be a General in my previous life.

I led countless soldiers in battle. Despite all the deaths of my comrades, what's important was that we brought victory home.

I never lost any battle.

But, for the first time in my life… I lost against myself.

"Oh no!" Hoshuka, the head maid of our family, approached me and slowly carried me between her arms. She patted my back gently. "There, there…"

I used to be a General.

Now, I have been reduced to a baby. Looks like mastering the basics in life will take time.
