Rick's POV
My heart skipped a beat and my breath caught in my throat. I tried to stay calm and act normal, but I couldn't.
What was wrong with me? Why was I feeling this nervous before even meeting the CEO? And on the same day I had waited for and dreamed about for so long?
Something didn't feel right in my body, and deep down, I knew whatever it was couldn't be good. Still, I forced a smile.
Just then, someone walked into the suite. He looked at the guards, who quietly closed the door behind him, while he stood with his back to me for a moment.
He wore a black designer suit that fit perfectly over his broad shoulders, along with sparkling shoes that matched his outfit.
I instinctively stood up in honor, the air around carrying a great sense of authority but then that sense of familiarity for just some unknown reason.
I hadn't seen his face yet, but his back view seemed familiar, reminding me of someone I had never ever wanted to cross my mind again.
