The elevator ride was silent. In the beginning, Mordred had tried to retaliate for my beating the crap out of Emiya. Sadly for her, Bob had similar strength and speed, and with Nana's insistence, Bob held Mordred in his arms like she was a baby. She was not happy and, for half the elevator ride, was screeching in indignation, but now she was quiet. The number of floors in this elevator was 300. Leonidas's 300 theme followed him everywhere. Just as they reached the 295th floor, the elevator came to a screeching halt. A screen above the floor buttons lit up as a purple eye blinked to life. "Bob and friends! It appears something is blocking the elevator from ascending. You will have to scale the individual floors from here. I do not know what you'll find up there, but based on the broken elevator, it shouldn't be good."
Mordred's face changed; instead of the pouting look she had before, she was now excited. Another stereotypical trope was allowing her to fight like a shonen protagonist. "Heck yeah, let's do this! Leroy Jenkins!" Mordred shouted as she opened the elevator door and ran out onto the 295th floor.
"Uh... guys, shoulds we follows her?" Bob asked as he slowly lumbered his way out of the elevator. Izuku nodded solemnly. "The simple fact that she yelled 'Leroy Jenkins' as she ran really does represent how reckless she's being right now," Emiya stated as he leaned against the elevator door, waiting for Nana to exit. Nana also sighed in exasperation. "And I thought boys were more reckless," she muttered as the four slowly followed Mordred down the corridor.
At first, the whole place seemed pretty normal—normal for a sci-fi tower, that is. But slowly, the area began to look more rundown. Just like in the forest, spider webs were everywhere. "Are we sures this place is the safest?" Bob whispered, panic in his breath. Before anyone could respond, they heard a snarky retort. "Well, of course, the scary-looking place is safe, Bob. Why wouldn't it be? Now can you come and help me!?" The four looked down one of the side corridors and saw Mordred cocooned in a bunch of spiderwebs, suspended on a wall.
Without thinking, Bob rushed over towards her. "Bob, wait!" Nana shouted, but before her words could reach him, a giant creature jumped out of the ceiling, creating a huge hole. It began attacking Bob with reckless abandon. It was a huge creature, half spider and half butterfly. Reacting quickly, Bob grabbed it midair and piledrove it into the ground. A squishing noise ran through the corridor as green liquid splashed everywhere. The iron smell of the liquid permeated the corridor, making it clear what it was.
Thousands of eyes lit up in the darkness as dog- and cat-sized insect monsters began to pounce on the four unrestrained intruders. Bob, with no hesitation, grabbed his Canon from his back. With the chainsaw on the end of his canon, he began to slash at the enemies. As he cut through the insect monsters, Emiya projected weapons that fell from the sky, impaling the creatures before they could get close. Then he drew his altered blades, which he had turned into pistols, and began to shoot the insects around him.
Without One For All, Nana was at a disadvantage; her float ability wasn't very helpful in enclosed areas, especially when the opponents could climb on all surfaces. Izuku was in a similar position as Emiya projected basic longswords for both of them to slash at any insects that closed in.
For what felt like hours, the group battled the bizarre half-spider, half-butterfly creatures. In reality, it had only been about 5 to 10 minutes, but in the heat of battle, it was hard to tell. After a decent amount of fighting, they finally gained enough time to free Mordred. How did they manage that? It was elementary, my dear Watson. Izuku accidentally threw his swords, and they flew across the corridor, nearly piercing right through Mordred's head.
"You could have killed me, you dunderhead!" she yelled as she began to slice through the webs near the sword, wiggling her body to eventually escape her confinement. Activating her quirk and grabbing the sword impaled in the wall, it was as if they released a hurricane. She barreled down the corridor, shooting crimson lightning in seemingly random directions while expertly slashing at the insects around her.
Finally, it seemed like there were no more strange insects left on the floor. After a while of searching, the group discovered the stairway to the next floor, and similarly intense fights followed this one.
Finally, they reached the 300th floor. Mordred, this time with permission, kicked down the door leading to what they hoped would be the room where Leonidas was sleeping. It was a vast chamber, and at the far end stood a throne, with a sleeping Leonidas upon it. As they advanced into this sci-fi Greek room, the group felt a wave of unease. Bob was uneasy because the entire place felt frightening; Nana was uneasy because every instinct screamed that something dangerous lurked nearby; and the other three were uneasy simply because it was clearly a boss room.
As they walked forward, a loud "thud" echoed as the giant doors they had entered sealed shut behind them. Izuku continued to survey the area until he eventually pointed up at a strange object hanging from the ceiling. "Did the ancient Greeks have crystalline chandeliers?"
All of them froze as the chandelier began to unfurl its giant crystal wings and flap. Another half-spider, half-butterfly abomination awoke from its slumber. This time, it wouldn't be as easy to defeat as the mob monsters they had fought in the past.
As I stated before, this creature had wings that looked like they were made of crystal. Candles were placed all over its spider legs, each one casting a crystal ball effect every time the wings flapped, keeping the creature aloft. The head of this insectile monster resembled a spider, framed by two giant antennae of a butterfly, with a proboscis protruding from the center of its arachnid mouth. This creature was clearly not meant to exist in reality, but in the mind, anything is possible.
The creature let out a piercing screech, forcing the group of heroes to cover their ears. Nana winced, remembering the pain from when she fought the villain who called himself Noise Boy. When the creature finally ceased screeching, she pulled her hands away from her ears, realizing she wouldn't be able to hear anything anyone said.
Bob hefted his cannon-like weapon and began firing shell after shell into the crystalline beast before them. Mordred fell into sync with him, charging forward and shooting crimson lightning in an attempt to paralyze its wings and force it to the ground. Emiya put away his pistols, projecting a bow and projecting an arrow that clearly used to be a sword. Let the boss battle begin.
