The following morning Della found herself lingering in bed, the softness of the sheets enveloping her, her mind calm. The conversation she had with Alaric replayed in her mind as she turned to see Alexander still asleep, his broad shoulders rising and falling peacefully. Della smiled warmly at the sight. She gently shook him awake, whispering, "Alexander, it's time to get up."
"Just a few more minutes," he replied, half-asleep, and pulled the pillow over his head.
"Get up!" she repeated playfully, leaning down to plant a kiss on his cheek.
He finally opened his eyes, met her gaze, and grinned wide. "Alright, alright. You win. But how about a quick kiss before I head to the office?"
