The Montgomery mansion loomed against the night sky that seemed to grow blacker with each passing moment. Inside its walls, a heavy silence settled like a suffocating blanket, cut only by the sound of muted conversation echoing through the opulent corridors.
In one of the mansion's many rooms, Della found herself chained to an elegantly framed bed, the warmth of the soft covers little comfort as she lay naked, vulnerable and exposed, mind racing to comprehend the dire situation she found herself in. She reached for her wolf, but Mila was silent. Whatever drug they had given her had incapacitated her wolf. She strained against the chains, trying to channel all of her rage, pain, and fear into strength. All it did was make her wrists hurt even more.
Jax was nearby, his small frame curled up in a corner with tears glistening in his wide blue eyes. "Mommy…" he whimpered, his voice trembling with fear. "I don't like it here. Why did they take us?"
