Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

He helped her from the ground and repeated a similar question. "Where are you going?"

Lara pulled the bags closer to her side and didn't say anything. Felix stood in front of her, expecting an answer to his question.

"I got fired." She said finally.

Felix looked at her face. He noticed that her eyes were abnormally red and her face was swollen.

"Who did this to you?" He pointed at the mark on her face.

Lara reached for the spot, trying to cover it with her hand, but he pushed her hand away from it and tried to examine the place. It was the spot where Gloria slapped her. Lara had a tender skin and the impact of the hit caused the area to swell up.

"I fell down." She lied and picked up her bags, hanging them over her shoulder.

"Tell me the truth." Felix demanded, refusing to buy the lies she was telling him.

Lara took a deep breath, hoping that Felix wouldn't confront Gloria harshly and cause more trouble for her.

"I allowed Fiona to enter Hazel's room." Lara spoke in a low voice. "Madam Gloria slapped me and also fired me."

"So, she's the one that left these bruises on your face?"

"No, I mean yes." Lara managed to say. Lara was a bit younger than Fiona. She had blonde hair and amber eyes. Sometimes, she spoke rudely to people around her, but that didn't contradict the fact that she had a wonderful personality.

Felix stared into the space by her left and clench his fists. Lara followed his gaze and watched him looking at Gloria who was standing by the door and talking to Fiona.

"So, just because of that, she did this to you." Felix continued talking. "Follow me." He ordered her and walked forwards.

For a moment, it seemed like Lara was glued to a spot. She didn't want Felix to confront Madam Gloria. If he did so, Gloria would only end up hating her more.

"Didn't you hear what I said? Follow me." Felix repeated himself.

"Yes sir." Lara replied and walked behind Felix like a puppy following the owner.

"Gloria." Felix called out in anger, without even adding the aunt title to her name. "Why did you do this?" He shifted to the side, revealing Lara who was standing behind him and looking at the ground beneath her feet.

"She deserved everything that happened to her." Gloria said nonchalantly.

"That's why you left bruises on her face and fired her, just because of a room." Felix continued to rant.

"Felix, remember that you're not yet the alpha of this pack. You don't have the right to question my actions." Gloria retorted.

"Lara." Felix called out, and Lara turned to face him. "Go and drop those bags in your room. You're having your job."

Lara squealed in excitement and hurried towards the house. Gloria stretched out her hand and blocked her from entering. She raised up her hand to slap Lara, but the slap never came. Felix held her hand and pushed it backwards.

"What do you gain from your irrational behaviour of maltreating the workers?" Felix shouted at her as he flung her hand backwards.

"I won't let her inside the house, not after what she did." Gloria continued to say as she blocked the door.

"What's so special about that room anyways?" Felix asked angrily.

Gloria's eyes widened as she heard his words. "That room belongs to your sister. Don't you want her to come home?" Gloria questioned.

"I don't have a sister and she doesn't exist. How long would you guys continue doing this?" Felix ranted.

Fiona watched the event unfolding in confusion. "A sister?" She whispered to herself. At least she understood one thing, that Felix's sister must have been blind.

"I can't believe you can say this about your sister just because she is blind."

"I never said that I hated blind people." Felix corrected her. "She hasn't been found over the years, yet all of you keep worshiping her room." Felix paused and then continued with a louder voice. "This was the same thing that landed the Luna in a sick bed."

"I can't believe what you're saying. The alpha and his wife have taken care of you since your parents died, and this is what you can say." Gloria mentioned, her voice softening like she wanted to give up tears.

Felix ran his hand through his hair. He had lost his family at a young age. His mother, father and sister. Only him survived the shipwreck. His parents' dead body was found, but his sister's own wasn't found till date. His uncle, Alpha Hugh became the alpha since Felix's father who was meant to be the alpha had died.

Alpha Hugh took Felix as his own son and promised to give him the alpha position. But up till now, Felix had not been ordained the alpha. Excuses were always being made, and now, Alpha Hugh commanded that he must find his mate and get married before the alpha position would be given to him.

Also, since Felix's sister's body had not been found, the family believed that she was probably still alive. And since twenty one years ago, they hadn't stopped searching for her. Alpha Hugh, his sister, Gloria and the Luna who was now sick, had been trying their best to find the girl.

But Felix refused to believe that she was alive after all these years.

"I didn't mean to sound that way. I know you're stressed, but you should stop letting out your anger on the workers." Felix said to Gloria.

Gloria walked inside and sat on the chair in the living room. "After my elder brother died, things weren't the same anymore."

Felix placed a hand on her shoulders, trying to comfort her. "It's okay. I also wish I got time to know who my parents were." Felix said as he sat on one of the chairs opposite her.

"It's okay. Lara can go back to work. I was just upset." Gloria said as she turned to Lara and motioned to her that she could come inside.

"Thank you ma." Lara said with appreciation and moved inside the house. Fiona followed behind Lara as she also felt emotional because of what went on between Felix and his aunt.

"You know you need to get married soon." Gloria resumed the conversation. "Even if you don't have a fated mate, try choosing a mate and marrying her, so that you can be crowned alpha sooner."

"I know." Felix responded. He knew that not many women had caught his attention these few days and he also didn't want to get fated to someone that he didn't like.

He excused himself and walked towards where a man stood waiting for him outside.

"Anything yet?" He asked the man as he came closer.

"Nothing. But you have to keep an eye on the omega. It's good you brought her to your pack." The man responded.

"That was the best thing I could do." Felix said as he forced a smile.

"We can't let her leave until we're done. Even if it means increasing her pay so that she'd stay."

"Of course." Felix responded.

"Take this." The man said to Felix as he pulled out a document from his leather bag. "It contains all the information you need."
