[ Chapter XIX (19): "STUDENT-PROFESSOR BONDING" ]
[ 1203.1 Points ]
Felix looks at the floating holograph that only he could see, the screen displaying his wallet i.e. the total accumulated Points he has. In the short amout of time, his student— John Constantine unknowingly gave him Points, making him less poor.
Approximately about 350 Points in the span of less than half a day. The Points which he values so much. The only currency for the System.
Points which is the currency that he painstakingly needed at the moment, to the point that, if he doesn't have enough Points. Then his work of supplying the students, or even starting the school-year would be in vain.
And with how dangerous the universe he found himself in. This universe being one of the widely known fictional universes wherein problems occur almost everyday.
With what if stories being written on the daily, countless what ifs. All coinciding with the plain universe, in extension making multiverse... A multiverse wherein chaos reigns.
He swears, from watching the shorts he sees here and there. That the Detective Comics Universe, alongside the Marvel Universe, and even the Warhammer 40,000 Universes are the most dreadful fictional universes one could live in.
He, a Potterhead much rather live in the dark age of the wizarding world of Harry Potter than live in one of those top 3 universes he just mentioned.
Primarily because he doesn't know that much about the first two, and because he knows too much about the last one. He'll actually much prefer not going to any one of those at all, if he was given the chance.
But apparently he wasn't given the option to choose. And now here he is, teaching one of the future pillars of this universe about magic; which would definitely alter the supposed reality of this universe, which could ripple to the other universes.
He doesn't want to think about those at the moment. As he focuses more on his student, John Constantine, which is quietly sitting on a table not far away; waiting for food, his feet slightly dangling by the high chair.
That said food being waited by, by Felix; paid for also, definitely didn't use underhanded tactics on these fools to pay...
Definitely not... He promised he'll pay in the future, but for now...
[ "Excuse me, is my order here yet?" ]
[ "Wait a moment, sir." ]
[ "..." ]
He has been waiting here for more than 10 minutes. He didn't dare speak up, because mainly that'll be rude, and also because he knows these people aren't being paid by that much...
So he waited patiently... But that patience is waining bit-by-bit as seconds pass by, and also because he heard the grumbling stomach of his student...
Worrying about his student's health, he dragged the reluctant boy to eat out. The latter thinks it'll just be via simple meals like hotdogs... But Felix seems to have a different plan.
As he instead of dragging him to eat some of that greasy food... Why not drag him to some fancy-looking restaurant that is empty, overly decorated, and order a meal for his diligent student.
[ "Alright we'll wait." ]
Felix forced a smile on his face, in the corner of his eyes is the phone surfing waiter that seems to be depressed... So in realizing he wouldn't be able to get through her... He did something sinister.
Morally and legally it is illegal to create currency, the bills and notes type. As the legal place where those are created is through the central bank is most countries... Felix doesn't care though.
As in the guise of checking the insides of his suit, he subtly took out a few buttons... Simple plain buttons, one that wouldn't be worth a cent.
But to Felix, he'll do magic and make these worthless buttons into something desirable... That people would even fight over... Yeah, he nods to himself thinking that this may be evil; but it's not morally evil, and it'll benefit a kid so it doesn't matter.
[ "Yeah no... How much did we order?" ]
[ "Because ma'am, I-I would like to pay in advance." ]
He watches the uninterested lady look up, away from her phone, her features showing annoyance. But Felix didn't care. He still pulled out something inside his inner suit pockets...
And shocked the waitress in front of him, greatly...
[ "Please, help yourself out with the rest." ]
And these are 100 pound sterling stacked together, and mainly held by a single rubber band. These are the currency of England...
And Felix just showed her that much without hesitation, which amounts to 30,000 sterling exactly.
[ "I believe this is, enough. Yeah?" ]
What he currently shows to her amounts to about 1.5 million in his home country's currency if converted... Now in his view that could buy a car, a good one...
So it must be enough to pay for a meal, right? Or not?
[ "Is it not enough?" ]
He was prepared to transfigurate a few more notes, but was stopped by a frantic voice to the side... [ "Wait!" ]
Turning to where the voice came from, he was met with an ugly manager dressed in a waiter uniform hurriedly nearing his position.
This is a great thing for Felix, absolutely the best case.
He watches the greedy manner look at the stack of paper, then at the weirdly dressed Felix; he could swear seeing the man confused inside, before putting on a flattering smile.
This momentary pause made Felix displeased... Is his clothes really that ugly? But he stopped himself from hexing the manager, because first he doesn't know any hexes, and second his student is hungry. And any delay would be a bad thing.
He talked to the manager which has his hands clasp in front of him, agreeing to everything he said. I.e. increase in meals, priority, and then the money is theirs.
In hearing about this simple trade that'll get him a great gain, and even some money for himself; the manager reprimanded the waitress, then called the other waiters. Personally going to the kitchen to order the people around.
Felix could swear hearing curses, may this plausibly due to the inieffency of the chiefs inside, or blatant favoritism that made Felix wait for more than 10 minutes is beyond him.
But he still pretended not to hear anything, as he just sits on the chair in front of his student. His student kept looking at the restaurant from left-to-right, in awe, which in turn gained murmurs and attracted weird looks from the other guests.
Weird looks that Felix and John ignored... As the younger of the two that became talkative in their short time spending together, ask him questions relating to Hogwarts...
[ "Professor, is Hogwarts more beautiful than this place?" ]
[ "Oh, yeah. Definitely, a thousand times more beautiful..." ]
A lie... This place is much more beautiful... But he can't let that kid down... But depending on one's taste, Hogwarts may look beautiful compared to this place.
Especially because it resides in a prehistoric-like world, with rich plant life, unique animals both magical and not... So yeah, in thinking about it, Hogwarts is indeed more beautiful.
The Professor and Student talked to one another, close to the point that they look like siblings... And in some way, Felix who's in his early 20s, thinks of it like that.
He did want a brother. But apparently due to problems in the family... He couldn't. A younger most preferably... And now, in some weird way he does.
He couldn't think of the other faculty staff as kin, mainly because they are close to his age... And one of them is heavily guarded against him. That seems to lessen, but it's still there.
So for now at the moment, before dinner arrives Felix and John excitedly talk to one another about the wizarding world. One throwing the questions, one easily answering it using his extensive library-like knowledge relating to the wizarding world.
[ "Quicker, idiots!" ]
This exchange lasted long, only stopping when interrupted. When dozens or so carts carrying different styles of food burst out. Having foods that can easily make one salivate.
The food then was placed on their table, which caught the attention of the younger of the two... The one that was already salivating and is barely holding onto etiquette.
Because how could he? Right in front of his eyes are expensive foods that he had only seen through television, expensive food that he hadn't even known of...
Lobsters, whole chicken coated with honey, desserts, ice teas, some unnames and unidentifiable that probably has a weird name.
And even a complimentary champagne that one of the waiters was about to pour out; [ "A complimentary champagne si-" ]
Which Felix quickly stopped, pointing at the kid sitting in front of him... And also because he doesn't drink alcohol.
[ "It's non-alcoholic, sir." ]
[ "Then go, what's stopping you? D-definitely not me." ]
Feeling like one of those rich boys at the moment, Felix savored this moment as he look at the glass in front of him being filled with reddish liquid, by a well-mannered gentleman.
[ "Should we pray first or...?" ]
[ GLOB ]
[ "I guess we eat first then..." ]
He smiles to himself, as he sees his hungry-hungry student devour any and all delicious food that his small grabby hands could grab... And quickly stuff it into his mouth...
This both earned the young boy weird murmurs by the others, especially because he both looks and smells like one. But also because he has a weird appearance.
Thankfully one annoyed look from Felix stopped them, as they reverted their gaze... If he knew of any hexes, curses, or some nasty spells then he would have already cast it— shame he doesn't know of any... Not yet at least.
He sights to himself. Knowing that their gazes aren't without reason. Especially because the way John eats, is sickening even to him...
But he knows the boy hasn't had any proper meals for days, we'll, at least for a week with this kid having run away from home. A problem... But Felix decided to worry about that later, for now; [ "Eat to your hearts content, John..." ]
[ "But please, d-don't kill yourself. Alright?" ]
The latter nodded, but still continued eating the way he does... So with a defeated sight, Felix could only push the boy an ice-tea... Hoping that it can alleviate his...
[ "Don't-don't. The food isn't gonna run away." ]
