Laurent didn't know that Bert was there as well, but seeing that they were discussing something, she decided to wait with her daughter at the side and didn't interrupt them.
About fifteen minutes later, the discussion seemed to be over, and as Dave turned his head, he noticed Laurent waiting with her daughter at the side. Without hesitation, he abandoned his conversation with Bert and walked over to them.
"Have you been waiting long?"
Laurent shook her head.
"No, just arrived."
"Daddy—"
Her daughter happily jumped into Dave's arms. But in the next moment, she noticed Bert getting up by the reservoir and immediately called out,
"Uncle Bert, Uncle Bert—"
The little girl was more excited to see Bert than Dave, and Dave couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. But even though he was jealous, he still let go of his daughter and allowed her to run to Bert.
