Daniel was still there, but he didn't say anything. His face was expressionless as he walked over to grab the document they had been discussing earlier, then turned and left without telling Daniel where he was going.
Once he was in the car and out of Washington Co., Bert took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Where are you?"
"I'm at the villa, fishing."
The man's voice on the other end was calm and leisurely, and Bert felt a sense of tightness in his chest upon hearing it.
As frustrating as it was, he had to swallow it down. He continued speaking.
"Let's meet."
"Oh?"
The man seemed surprised to hear Bert wanted to meet.
"Do you need something?"
"Mm."
Bert gave a short response, and the man on the other end chuckled with evident satisfaction.
"Well, you'll have to come to me. I just arrived at the villa, and I've just started fishing. I don't want to go back for a meeting."
"Alright."
