Chapter 277 - Chapter 277, The Woman in Amber

Chapter 277, The Woman in Amber

After looting the pirate leader's spoils.

Wu Heng called out and walked directly toward the pirate ship docked at the port.

At the port, three pirate ships were docked alongside a slightly smaller merchant vessel.

Wu Heng stood on the shore, looking at the distant ships.

With a thought, he summoned the phantom 'Glenda'.

Glenda circled once in the sky, then flew down and said, "You got into a fight with pirates?"

"How do you know these are pirates?" Wu Heng asked curiously.

"There are pirate flags on the ships," Glenda replied.

Phantoms have dark vision, unaffected even at night.

"Yeah, it's a pirate group. They're all dead now," Wu Heng said, continuing, "There are three pirate ships over there. See which one has valuables, so we can take them later."

"Got it!" Glenda agreed and immediately dived into the pirate ships.

Wu Heng didn't stay put and boarded the foremost ship.

The pirate ship had its own unique style.

The hull was painted with exaggerated designs, and the railings were covered with various types of shields.

As the waves rocked the ship, the shields clattered against the hull.

Before Wu Heng could take a look around.

Glenda flew back immediately.

She said, "Only one ship had lots of cargo and wealth. The other two mainly have cabins and some weapons and equipment, nothing of real value."

Only one ship loaded with goods?

Not worried about it sinking, leaving them with nothing.

"Take me there."

"This way!"

Glenda led him off the ship and onto another one.

They went all the way down to the ship's hold.

They arrived at a heavily chained door.

"No traps, right?" Wu Heng asked.

"None!"

Wu Heng stepped back, "Open it!"

Blood Axe stepped forward, swinging his battle axe down.

Clang~!

The deafening sound echoed as the chains broke and fell to the ground.

Wu Heng pushed the door open; inside was pitch black.

He cast [Dancing Light] ahead, illuminating a wooden barrel in the center, gradually lighting up the surroundings.

It was a storage room.

Both sides were stacked with fabrics and herbs, while the center had various gold and silver items, sculptures, and paintings.

These were likely looted goods.

Pirates wouldn't have the taste for sculptures and artwork.

Wu Heng walked in and glanced inside the barrel.

The upright barrel had no lid, filled with shining silver coins that sparkled under the light.

"No need to look; all these barrels are filled with silver coins. That chest over there has gold coins and gems," Glenda floated in the middle and said softly.

Wu Heng turned back, "Well, that killed the anticipation."

"Anticipation for what?"

"The thrill of a blind box."

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm going to check the merchant ship."

Wu Heng nodded, and Glenda phased through the wall to leave.

......

This was likely the pirates' storage.

He originally thought the gold and silver would be kept in spatial rings, but the pirate captain hadn't done that.

Instead, they were locked here.

Wu Heng stored all the gold and silver coins in his spatial ring, but the rest of the goods were too numerous to fit.

He stood there thinking, then returned to the deck.

He called out, "Sharktooth!"

Splash~!

A figure emerged from the sea; Sharktooth looked up toward him.

Sharktooth hadn't participated in the previous battle, only helping to push the boat.

"Get up here!"

Sharktooth stepped out of the water and boarded the deck.

Wu Heng said, "This ship is ours now. Sail it away and hide. I'll come get you tomorrow."

Sharktooth didn't say much and went straight into the control room.

He was about to sail the ship away.

"Wait, let me get off first."

Wu Heng disembarked with his two skeletons, and the pirate ship slowly left the dock, disappearing into the night.

This operation.

The pirate ship was considered a spoil of war.

But the guild's process was slow and strict, plus there were people like Sheila Grey.

Taking a ship for himself first wasn't really unfair.

After all, he had contributed the most tonight.

At this moment, Glenda flew back, even faster than before.

Hovering in mid-air, she pointed to the merchant ship behind and asked, "Why is there a woman on that ship?"

"A woman? A pirate?" Wu Heng asked back.

In this world, women were also professionals, so seeing women in battle was common.

Whether pirates or bandits, there were plenty of women.

Female leaders were also not uncommon.

"No, it's an elven woman sealed in amber," Glenda explained.

Shanaila?

Hearing Glenda's description, Wu Heng's first thought was of their rescue target, Shanaila.

The guild's intel mentioned an elven woman, and according to the pirates, she had sealed herself in stone.

It matched Glenda's description perfectly.

"Do you know her?" Glenda asked, noticing his expression.

"A person the guild wants rescued, sounds like what you described," Wu Heng explained and continued, "Let's go take a look."

......

The merchant ship was more aesthetically pleasing.

However, its hull was riddled with arrows, and the railings still had hooks attached.

Wu Heng followed into the ship's cabin.

The interior was still luxurious, more like a private yacht.

But now, some of the decorations had been removed, and traces of hanging paintings and ornaments were still visible.

Following Glenda, they reached a cabin.

When the door opened, Wu Heng's eyes widened.

The lightstone on the ceiling emitted a soft glow.

Under the light, a large, semi-transparent yellow amber occupied half the room.

Inside the amber was sealed an elegant, beautiful elven woman.

Wu Heng stared, surprised by the scene before him.

Seeing it in person was much more impactful than Glenda's description.

After confirming there was no danger.

Wu Heng cast another [Dancing Light] on the lightstone.

The room became even brighter.

The figure within the amber was clearer.

Short, shoulder-length ash-blue hair, pointed elven ears, skin white and smooth as jade, with an exceptionally beautiful face.

She wore a sky-blue long dress overlaid with a finely patterned leather armor.

Unlike the impression given by Deputy Steward Sheila Grey.

The elven woman before him looked more like a mature lady, resembling a dignified concubine from a royal palace.

Now, Wu Heng understood why the pirates had left the amber here.

It was too large to transport outside easily.

Unless the entire ship was dismantled.

Wu Heng reached out, touching it and knocking on it twice.

The surface of the amber was very hard.

"Could she have suffocated herself in there?"

Wu Heng muttered softly.

As he spoke.

The woman inside the amber's eyelashes twitched slightly.
