Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Markings of fate

I looked at the colossal body of the serpent lying there, if it had woken up again I would be in shambles. I need to think of a way to escape this difficult situation, as I looked around to find a spot get out of here, the cave slowly got a brighter as the rays of sunshine lighten the cavern, the serpent had giant black scales protecting itself, the river I was under looked beautiful with vines coming down from above, I saw a small entrance on the side with some symbols carved into the pavement near it, I cautiously approached the entrance trying to see what was inside it. There didn't seem to be any traps set up there, so I took an step into the small room, the floor brightened up and the room was filled with light, the room was filled with symbols carved into the walls, there were scriptures and treasure, suddenly the endless void started shaking, my heart was being burnt, I clenched my chest and fell.

'what's going on...?' I thought to myself as I was feeling something crushing my heart, suddenly, as scripture that was lying in the room started floating, it's written symbols slowly started carving onto my body, every symbol felt like it was burned onto me, as every symbols was carved onto me the scripture faded away.

I took a heavy breath, I felt like I was almost suffocated.

I looked at myself, the symbols were gone as well. 'what just happened?..' I thought to myself confused of everything, I looked around the room again, I found two martial arts books and the room was also filled with gold as well, as I kept looking around, I saw a rusty blade, the handled seem like a masterpiece but the blade had already rusted. Suddenly the ground started shaking.

"What's going on?" I said to myself before realising that the cavern was coming down. I had to think fast, I quickly threw away the broze coins I had in my pouch and filled it with gold coins, jewels and gems, I grabbed the two books and the sword and quickly ran out of the room.

"Shit... Where do I go..."

As I looked around in a panicked state, the serpent slowly moved, I saw that its tail was crushed under a enormous rock.

**Hiss**

"Help... Me..."

The giant serpent suddenly talked, I was bewildered. It was trying to kill me a moment ago, but now it's asking me for help.

'what do I do...'

The serpent suddenly transformed into a normal sized one, I ran towards it and quickly grabbed it.

"Do you know a way out of this place?" I asked as a final temptation to escape this place.

"I do... Keep going forward, as soon as you reach the river get to the other side of it... There's a small tunnel leading you back to the forest..."

I nodded, following it's instructions I ran as fast as possible, as soon as I saw the tunnel he was referring to, I ran full force, a giant rock was about to fall over it closing the tunnel, I slid just in time before it closed.

"Phew" ...

I said as soon as I entered it.

"You're sure that this is the exit right?"

I asked cautiously.

"It is..." The serpent responded. I nodded and started walking up to the surface.

"What are you anyways?" I asked with curiosity, silence fell for a moment but it was soon broken by the serpent.

"I'm known as the 'Black serpent of the Northern river' a guardian protecting a treasure from unworthy mortals... I'm sorry that I have attacked you, I noticed that your body has the ancient language ingraved into it, that means the sculpture found it's successor. I do not have the ability to tell you what the sculpture was about, you will have to find that out on your own. It was left behind my master until the successor came to claim it, he said that you will get to know about it." I listened intently as it told me about everything, as we kept walking, there was sunlight, we finally reached the surface.

"So, you're a mythical creature?" I asked.

"I am." The serpent responded.

Suddenly it bit my neck.

"Ouch! What the hell!?" I was surprised as it attacked me again, but before it said anything a small circle appeared in my palm and it's head.

"This is a blood pact, from now on you will be my owner..." The serpent said.

"But, didn't you say you already had a master?" I asked.

"Yes, but he left long ago. Since you will be his successor, it's only natural that you become my new owner." It said, I was super happy since not even the highest levels of cultivators had a magical beast let alone a mythical creature. But I had to keep it hidden for now, if not I'll be attracting too many unwanted attention.

"I see... Then, glad to be partners! By the way what's your name? And can you teach me some secret techniques?! Also, do you know what this sword and these two skill books are?" I asked, overflowing it with questions.
