"Xue, you should head back, I'm sorry I won't be able to accompany you back. We'll see each other later okay?" I said, as I took a deep breath, calming down.
"Are you sure?" She asked gently.
I nodded my head.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything reckless, trust me" I said reassuring her.
She nodded back as she smiled.
"I'll accompany you back to the city walls."
We both walked back through the forest, as the we finally was about to leave the forest, we saw the shadows of the trees finishing, and the orange sunshine coming from the sunset, it was about to be night already, as we finally reached the gates, I smiled at her.
"See you next time. If there's any trouble, come to me"
We both parted ways and I went back, as I got back, I used my enhanced sense of smell to track down the monsters, it lead me to a cave with a pack of wolves which were overgrown, but the atmosphere was tight for some reason, I felt that it was getting harder to breathe every second, I decided to kill them all as fast as possible and leave, I went in and used beastly roar to provoke them, as soon as they got close I used earth shattering punch towards the ground, breaking the ground, using it as an area of attack type of skill and using the shockwave to get rid of them.
I absorbed their energy but the energy was too low to make my level go up, I sensed something from inside the cave, it gave off a ominous feeling, I decided to see what it was, as I got closer to it the air became thicker, the atmosphere was almost suffocating me.
"What is this..." I said as I went in. The cave was pitch black, there was no way for light to seep in there, the cave seemed deep.
"This doesn't seem to be a good idea..." I had a conflict, should I go in or turn back? I got already got revenge from those monsters who attacked my house, this cave was a complete other thing, it had nothing to do with me being here, but inside it could hold a big opportunity to rise my strength, or just a big trap...
I sighed, looking back at the entrance, it was already dark outside, with a bit of moonlight, while inside the cave, it was completely dark, even if go back, I have nowhere to sleep, I would have to go back to the capital and sell the monster corpses to get some money and sleep somewhere...
I thought to myself, 'the bad feeling this cave is giving me, what could be deep in there... This cave seems to be untouched for so long... It could be something priceless, worthless or it might even be a trap.'
Is the risk worth it? I thought before deciding to go in, as I went in, the atmosphere got thicker, the air felt ominous, and most of all, the cave not having many openings didn't help at all either, it just made it more difficult to breathe, suddenly I heard a crack, I quickly got on my guard, I couldn't see much of anything, so I just froze, as soon as I turned the ground under just broke making me fall into a big crater, I used earth shattering barrage on air towards the ground to slow down the fall, as soon as I hit the ground the sound echoced.
I was in a hollowed space, there were some opening for moonlight to seep in. Suddenly a shiver ran down my spine, as I tried to get up my shin was broken, I had to wait a bit for it to heal. As I waited, I looked around, this place was massive, there were vines coming down from above. As I looked around I got a chill down my spine.
**Hiss**
A hissing sound was heard from behind, I quickly got on guard.
"What the..."
I looked around, as I turned back an enormous eye of an snake was looking at me right beside me.
I quickly jumped back, but without giving me much time to react it swinged its tail trying to sweep me from the floor.
"What the hell is that!?" Inside this cave there wasn't much light so I couldn't see what kind of snake it was, as I took another step back trying to get into an open area to see the snakes attacks I slipped and fell into a river.
**Splash**
"Damn it! This is bad, I'm at a disadvantage like this!" I tried to swim out but the current was too strong, suddenly I was hit from behind, the snake swung its tail making me take a serious hit, making me go under the water, from the impact of the swing I hit my head, I tried to get back to the surface but the snake was too quick, it had already got under the river..
'damn it, if it keeps going on like this I'm going to die! I need to find a way to the top'
As the snake got close to me, it opened its mouth in an attempt to swallow me, I hurriedly grabbed its fangs and it went up to the surface with me, I quickly breathed after almost drowning, and I kept holding on to it but it tried to attack me once more, going towards a wall as fast it could to get me off of its mouth.
'this is my chance!' as soon as it got close to the rock wall of this enormous cave, I let go of its fangs making it hit its own head against the wall.
It was knocked out, this was my only chance to kill it.
I used earth shattering barrage on it, but its scales weren't even getting scratched, it was impossible for me to kill it.
"Shit... What is it made out of... How durable is it...".
