Chapter 1 - The Guitar And The Waves

"Grandma! please just -"

"We don't have much longer, seinna..." Her voice fragile, but soft.

"No! Grandma, please.. Don't leave me!" Seinna's voice broke, her hands trembling as she reached out, desperately trying to stop her grandmother from reaching the edge

The sound of a huge wave was coming their way. Her grandmother took one last breath

"I love you, sweetheart."

"GRANDMA!" seinna's scream was swallowed by the waves, echoing over the water, but never reaching her grandmother. Her vision became blurry with every second before she completely blacked out.

In a castle where no one could breathe without the leader's permission, a boy was arguing loudly, without a shred of fear.

Maybe he knew it was pointless, but what if this time it works?

"Elven, get out of my sight, now."

"Give me my guitar back."

"Do.Not. Make me repeat myself."

"I said, give me my guitar back."

BAAM!

The guitar in Mr.guilmar's hands slammed into Elven's chest, his youngest son, and the only heir left after his daughter's death.

People rushed in, then froze at Mr.guilmar's signal.

"Now get out. This instant!" He roared.

Elven, bruised and scraped, still got up. He didn't say a word, just glared coldly at his father and stormed out.

"Honey.. he's a child. Please, show him mercy." Mrs.guilmar whispered, trembling.

"Then have mercy on me too and leave."

With just some bread and half a bottle of water in his bag, Elven stepped into the night. The hot wind hit his face, the sky was only half-visible through the thick leaves.

But the farther he walked, the wider the sky stretched. The stars felt closer, like they were guiding him.

They indeed were, leading him to a beach.

He took one look at it and shook his head

"What am I even doing? I should just go home."

He kicked a pebble, which linked against a large rock. After a second's hesitation, he brushed the sand off the stone and sat down.

"If mom finds out I went into Father's chamber, she'll kill me.." he muttered. His hand reached for the damaged guitar. The wood was splintered from the impact.

"Is it even playable? I don't even have money to fix this." He brushed his fingers over the strings.

He took a deep breath. The stars shimmered over his head as he plucked at the guitar. It was melodic, surprisingly beautiful. His hum blended softly with the sound, soft and full.

"Hm. Guess it still works.." he mumbled.

He was about to get up, and then he froze.

A body. Lying on the shore. No..it was moving.

His hand darted to the pistol in his pocket.

The figure turned over. A girl, unclothed, barely breathing. Elven was about to bolt, but what would happen to her?

Thinking fast, he stripped off his jacket, eyes squeezed shut, tossed it over her. Then he turned to leave.

But a hand grabbed his foot.

What kind of nightmare is this?

"Where.. am I?" Her voice was soft, so melodic, it felt like clouds drifting across the sky.

"HOW DO I KNOW, LADY?!" he shouted.

She flinched and let go, then suddenly stood up.

"No..no. I need to go back. Right now."

"Finally," Elven muttered. "Some sense."

But..where was she going?

She wasn't heading towards the road, she was headed for the water.

"What are you doing?!" He shouted, rushing after her and grabbing her arm, eyes squeezed shut again.

"Let go of me!"

"Why are you going into the ocean at night?!"

"My family is there.." she whispered.

"Don't be ridiculous! There's nothing under the water but fish, unless they're your family" he snapped.

"Look at me." She said gently.

"NO!"

"Just look."

He hesitated.. then peeked.

Wait..

He released her arm and stared fully this time.

"What… are you?" He asked.

Her ears were flared and finned,a soft violet sheen catching the moonlight. Her eyes deep blue, glowing like pearls, her black hair flowed in wet waves down her back

"I am a..."
