Chapter 12 - 12

Sean hurriedly put on his clothes, got up, lit the lamp, and was about to kick the guest out.

But when he remembered that Zora had exhausted herself to detoxify him last night, he hesitated, sat back down, and didn't disturb her.

Without realizing it, Sean also fell asleep.

Zora, too, was so tired that she couldn't move a finger. She just wanted to rest a little, but ended up sleeping deeply…

By the time they both woke again, it was already morning.

Zora slowly opened her eyes and immediately felt something was wrong — she was lying in someone's arms, tightly clinging to them like an octopus!

Where was she? What happened?

After a few seconds, her foggy mind cleared: last night she detoxified Sean, and ended up falling asleep in his bed!

And now she was wrapped around him like this?!

If Sean woke up, how could she explain it?

Zora carefully loosened her arms and legs, trying to get away quietly and leave before Sean noticed.

But at that moment, Sean opened his eyes.

Zora was so startled her knees went soft, and she collapsed directly onto Sean's chest.

Zora: "..."

Sean instinctively caught her, but feeling her soft body against him again, even a man of stone would react.

He smiled lazily and teased,

"Miss Zora, last night you threw yourself at me more than ten times. Now this morning, you're still being so forward. What should I do with you?"

Zora coughed violently from embarrassment.

"Sorry! Cough, cough..."

She quickly struggled to get off him, apologized with her head low, and rushed out the window like a rabbit fleeing for its life.

She didn't dare look back at all. She was too embarrassed — how could she face Sean now?

Sean sat up in bed, watching Zora's messy retreat. He couldn't help but chuckle.

"This little woman... interesting," he murmured.

"She's completely different from the rumors. She knows medicine, has deep internal strength, and hides her abilities carefully. She's not simple."

Sean muttered to himself, deep in thought.

Meanwhile, Zora had already sneaked out of the Grand Minister's estate.

She walked onto the busy street. It was early morning, and many food stalls had opened. Smelling the delicious scents, her stomach rumbled.

She found a wonton stand and sat down.

"Boss, a bowl of wontons please."

"Large bowl or small?"

"Large bowl, with extra soup."

"Coming right up, Miss. Please sit!"

Zora rested her chin in her hand, looking around casually.

Hmm?

At the entrance of the inn across the street, a young man walked out. His clothes were simple, but his demeanor was noble and elegant. His steps were hurried, as if he was escaping from something.

It was June.

A woman chased after him, trying to grab him.

Zora had no intention of interfering at first, but then June locked eyes with her, full of silent pleading.

She sighed inwardly and waved at the wonton stand owner.

"Boss, add another bowl of wontons."

When June reached her, Zora naturally took his hand and smiled warmly.

"You must be hungry. I already ordered your wontons."

The woman who had been chasing June froze mid-step. He… had a wife?

When she looked carefully and recognized Zora, she was even more shocked — wasn't Zora supposed to be useless and wild? How did she end up married?

Suppressing her anger, the woman walked over arrogantly.

"Zora, have you fallen so low that you have to eat breakfast at a cheap street stall?"

Zora looked up at her lazily.

"Who are you?"

The woman's maid immediately stepped forward proudly.

"This is Lillian, daughter of the Ministry of Revenue official!"

Zora chuckled.

"Lillian? I think 'Pan Jinlian' would suit you better."

Lillian's face turned green with rage.

Ignoring her, Lillian pointed to June and said,

"Hand him over. I like him."

Zora lazily replied,

"He's mine. Why should I give him to you?"

"I'll pay you handsomely," Lillian said proudly. "I'll even send you two handsome male concubines in exchange."

Zora almost laughed out loud.

"My man isn't something you can buy with money."

June, hearing this, looked at Zora with soft, moved eyes.

But Lillian refused to back down.

"I heard he stayed alone at the inn last night! He doesn't have a wife!"

Zora rolled her eyes.

"Are you an idiot? Don't you know who he is?"

Lillian frowned and looked at June carefully, realizing something was wrong.

After a while, her face changed dramatically.

"You... you're June? The number one courtesan of Green Grass Pavilion?"

Zora sneered.

"Last night, I spent eight thousand silver to redeem him. Now he's free — a clean, respectable man. And he's mine. If you dare to harass him again, I'll take you to court!"

Lillian was speechless.

At that moment, the wonton stall owner brought two big bowls of steaming hot wontons.

"Your food, Miss! Enjoy!"

Zora smiled sweetly at June and motioned for him to sit.

June sat nervously, stiff and unsure what to do.

Seeing this, Zora picked up his spoon, scooped a wonton, gently blew on it, and offered it to him.

"Here. Try it."
