Chapter 5 - CHAPTER FIVE

Ashley

Ding… ding.. Tyler's phone was ringing and I don't know if I should take his calls. He was having a shower.

It rang the second time and I had no options than to clutch his phone in my hands, and then proceed to receive the calls. "Hello, Mr. Tyler. Is that you?" The caller asked, his voice was quiet and tense.

I made to tell him that Tyler wasn't with his phone but he won't even give me an audience to speak.

"Mr. Tyler, concerning the Two billion dollars loan we talked about, please can you extend the date?" The caller inquired with the most curious tone of voice.

I couldn't believe my ears. Does he mean that Tyler borrowed a loan from him? The amount is too outrageous. And considering Tyler's financial status, where does he think he would get the money from. I mumbled, alarmly.

Hello, Mr Tyler, are you still there? The caller exclaimed.

My eyes roamed over the room, short of words. I was still trying to process everything I heard when Tyler came out from the bathroom.

His body is so built. He must have been putting in a lot of effort at the gym when he was away in the United Kingdom.

His six packs were enticing and I can't help but drool over him. I was lost in the beauty that stood before me. And I didn't hear him call my name.

Before then, I had already ended the call. Tyler called my name and I jerked. "Ashley, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine." I answered, while trying to avoid his eyes. I handed his phone over to him without telling him that his phone rang.

"Gosh, what did he do with that kind of money?" I mumbled under my breath. I don't even have that kind of money. I would have cleared all his debts.

"Should I tell him that someone called, asking him to pay him back the loan he was owing?" I thought, as I went to the bed to lay down.

"No no.. I don't want him to know that I picked his calls. He wouldn't be happy that I found out he took a loan and was yet to pay."

"Oh God.. what should I do?" My mind fluttered wildly. A smile tugged on my lips when I remembered that I was given a project worth millions of dollars.

I will put my all in this project and when the money comes, I will help Tyler in clearing his debts. He is such a sweet guy.

My imaginations ran far and wild, making me ask myself, "what would have happened if Tyler wasn't in the states? Who would I have run to?

How would I escape being married to Old Fathom? I silently thanked God for making him available at that point in time.

My life would have been a mess. I muttered as nervous prickles ran up my spine. No, it wouldn't be. There are alternatives. I mean options to choose from.

Raymond will regret ever leaving me for that bitch of a best friend. I will never forgive him for shattering my heart.

Knock.. knock.. the sound of the door jolted me out of my thoughts. The door wasn't locked and Tyler had left after having a change of clothes.

I sat up properly on the bed and signal to whoever that was knocking to come in, " You can come in."

My mother in law came in and my heart danced in excitement. I stood on my feet to welcome her. I wasn't expecting her at the moment.

"Mummy, I'm so happy to see you." I said, beaming with smiles.

"Same here my child." She said as she pulled me into a warm hug. "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing perfectly fine. I didn't know you were around." I spluttered, mesmerised. Sorry for not coming to your room to see you.

"It's nothing, my child." She cooed with so much affection in her voice. And I led her to sit on my bed.

"I'm feeling bad right now. You must have thought lowly of me." I sniffled, looking into her eyes.

Ah.. ahh.. she answered with a soft laugh, "who said so? Tyler didn't tell you about my coming because he wasn't aware."

Really? I asked in bewilderment.

Yes dear. She said breathily.

I felt relieved when she said Tyler wasn't aware that she was coming to see us. She must have thought that I knew all this while. With that being said, I have been cleared.

I thought about telling her about the supposed loan that her son took from someone. I don't really know if it was a good idea.

But from another angle, Tyler's mum just came in and I don't want to bother her about anything.

You know how these mothers behave. They will want to carry your problems on their head. And it actually weighs one down if you keep thinking about it.

I waved it aside and didn't bother telling her anymore.

"Are you alright?" She asked, concerned.

"Yes, ma'am." I replied confidently.

"So tell me, how's life and marriage treating you?" She asked, inclining her head, eager to know.

"God has been good to me. I'm taking life as it comes. And as for marriage, I got the most supportive husband ever." I boosted with pride and a look of certainty in my face.

"Wow. I'm so happy for you." She said, delighted.

"Tyler is really caring and I'm super grateful to have him in my life." I chuckled, feeling vibrant. "What would I have done without him?"

Awwnnn.. Tyler's mum blushed.

"Thank you for being a good mother to your son and raising him well." I praised her.

"Not every mothers would be able to do that. You are one in a million mum and I'm so excited to be part of this family."

"You are making me tear up right now. She said as she pushed the tear that was about to drop." She caressed my shoulders in between.

"My child, I will always be here for you whenever you need me okay. I will be the best mother in law you will ever desire. It's well with you my child."

"Thank you mother. I said, feeling emotional and I laid in her arms.
