Chapter 7 - 07 Their night (Rert's)

Today was a rather tiring and mind blowing day for Rert.

Started from finding a girl emerged from the thin air right in front of him, make him excited, thought that she was his gifted companion just like the how Romano meets Jasmienne in the story of Hero Romano & Jasmienne.

On the story, it is said that Jasmienne was a gifted companion gifted by a Goddess to Hero Romano, who couldn't find a girl who willing to be his wife since his appearance was so bad that a kid would cry at his face after a second of eye contact.

A very romantic and lovely story of a man who finally found a woman that willing to accept him as himself.

A touching story, indeed.

It is strange why his mom telling him this kind of story when she make him sleep while in the age of 5, but that's not a big deal, so Rert never minding it at all.

The point is how similiar how the girl appeared and how Jasmienne appeared.

That's why he thought that she was his gifted companion at first.

How beautiful she is only makes him more and more excited.

Unfortunately, that was just a misunderstanding.

Well, the biggest difference is that he not had any connection to a goddess that may created a companion for him, so Rert thought so after Riana rejected his hope and... Seeing how 'unique' Riana as a woman is.

The beauty pure maiden is just her exterior, her interior is akin to an oil smiled old man whom also a drunkard.

There's no way that a gifted companion being so crooked as she is.

After entering his room, Rert first examining his room.

There's no window, but the owner is so kind that he willing to gave him a stuck of candle as new customer bonus because his room would be to dark without light source.

There's also a bed and a table with two drawer and a wooden chair.

Not a so spacious room, but for a price of 4 coppers, a room with in diameter of 6×8 meters per side was a good purchase, right?

Rert put his backpack on the floor after put the candle at the table and locked the door.

He then began to sorting his things.

Firstly, his sword and robe, along with lether chestplate his Dad gave him. He fold and store them at the side and above the table.

Secondly, his things inside the backpack.

A bag of dried meat his Mom stocked for his journey to the town.

Only a few remained inside the bag now, so Rert chew them with smile while continue to sorting things.

Oh, his diary!

He raise a thick book where he used to wrote his daily life on with his name at the leather cover of the book.

He carefully store the book inside the second drawer along with his quill and a bottle of ink.

Then... A small thin book?

"What is this?"

Rert tilted his head when he found a small book inside his backpack.

He curiously opened the book and start to read it.

After a while, his eyes began to become wet.

"Thank you so much, Dad...!"

He smiled and wiped his eyes, before store the book beside his diary.

What written on the thin book was what his Dad wrote about what to do and what to be coution or wary of while life on the outside world without any relatives nearby, along with several tips about Adventurer's life and job purpose.

He truly could never gave them enough thanks, his parent.

Rert take a moment for calming down before continued.

What's next is a bag of coins.

2 silvers and 92 coppers, to be precise.

A week price of this room was 28 coppers. Plus a soup of 3 coppers, he spend 31 coppers today from the originally 118 coppers. With the addition of his reward for the completion of the Moongrass gathering quest, his coppers increase a little to 92 coins from 87 coins.

If he manage his money matter carefully, Rert sure he would be able to survive and maybe even succeed as an Adventurer.

For now, he scared that a thief would come to him, so he conceal the bag under the table.

After that, Rert sorted his things like spare clothes and underwears, a knife for cutting things, an extra knife for self-guarding, an empty bottles of preserved fruit his mom and the village's ladies gave him as snacks, and lastly... His bow that tied at the side of the backpack.

The bow was the same bow he used to hunt animals and small monsters back in the village.

He brought it along with him just for if he may needed this old partner of him.

Looked at the neatly sorted things under the light of the candle, Rert smiled and had small of self contentment.

He did a good job!

After he done sorting things and had nothing to do anymore, a wave weariness attacked him, urging him to lay down at the bed and took a nap for the day.

And he did as his body said.

The night is long.

And a young boy like him needed enough amount of sleep to grow up properly.

A Hero can even died without sleep.

So he, as a someone aiming to be a Hero, must do much sleep when times said so to become strong enough to carry the title of a Hero.

So, with smile on his youthful face, Rert closed his green eyes for today.

Tomorrow was the day he become the real Adventurer!

He can't wait to do more quests and become stornger!
