Party
Keifer's POV
I want Jay-jay to stay. I want to hold her tight and make sure of not
letting go. I badly want to.
"What happened Kuya?" Keigan asked me.
I look at him with my usual blank expression and shook my head.
"Nothing."
"Your face is all bruises and wounds. So how did it turn out to be nothing?"
I tried to get up from lying on the bed. My head
stung slightly and I quickly became dizzy.
"Get some rest." Keigan said while forcing me to lay down.
I pushed his hand away. "I've had a long rest."
I forced myself to stand up and walked towards the CR. I looked in the mirror
and I was shocked by my appearance. Jay-jay can literally damage a face through her
punches.
It's still a mystery to me how her
punches were so strong. I don't think it's because she's always fighting before.
She's a woman and it's quite impossible for her to make her punches
stronger.
Or maybe it's because she's so angry with me.
I tried to touch my face and immediately felt the pain. I just ignored the pain. This is nothing new to me but
even so I feel like the punches I received
now hurt more. Maybe because this came from the person I love.
The events of earlier came back to my mind. I'm on the verge of giving
up my inheritances. I can't push Jay-jay away from me anymore.
I think I'm going crazy thinking about her and what will happen to
us. But I'm sure of only one thing.
I have to make sure that I will not loose her.
I turned on the faucet and washed my hands. Then I wiped them on the towel hanging just next to the mirror. I went straight to my walk-in
closet to get dressed.
"Where are you going?" Keigan asked.
I looked at him for a moment before taking off my shirt and replacing it with a
polo shirt.
"Are you going to see her?"
There's no point in answering him. He already knows it.
"Please Brother... Tell me what Honey heard wrong earlier."
Please talk to him.
"No. She heard me right." I answered without any hint of regret.
I grab another hoodie from my closet and wear it. My foot is about to
move when Keigan grabbed my arm.
"Let's go Keigan." I said with authority.
"No." He said forcing himself to face me. "...I will stop you no matter what
what."
My eyes look at him intently. I can sense his fear but obviously trying to
hide. I don't want to yell at him, I don't want to make him feel that I'm still the one
can be followed at home. He's still my brother and I don't want him to feel
scared at me The same way he feels with our Monster Dad.
I took a deep breath to relax myself. I hold Keigan hands and slowly
remove it from my arm.
"Keigan..."
"Why are you always the only one worrying about him?! What about us?! What about Keiren and I?" He burst out and started to cry.
I couldn't help but be surprised by his behavior. I wanted to
explain to him why I was going to Jay-jay but I knew he wouldn't understand.
"I don't—."
"NO!" He shouted.
I won't deny that I'm a bit shocked. It's like he's become a different person in my
view but I know he's just venting his anger.
I just chose to ignore that.
"Keigan, I know—."
"No! You don't know anything. You're too busy praising your girl
that you forget and ignore us!"
"Listen to me!"
"I don't want to listen to you! You don't care about us anyway!"
"No! Keigan!"
Suddenly he covered his ears and started to scream
loudly.
"Aaaarrrggghhhh! Aaaarrrggghhhh!" He kneel down and shouts like
his scared of something.
I grab both of his arms and force him to face me.
"Keigan! Listen to me!"
He shook his head while continuing to shout. I also tried to
touch her face but she kept avoiding him.
"You don't want us! You only want her! You don't love us! You only
love her! You don't care about us! You only care about her!" He keeps
shouting and crying at the same time.
"Keigan! Stop!"
I'm starting to get irritated by what he's doing. I don't know
what he's going through and why he has to do this.
"Keigan!"
"No! You're a coward! Your giving up everything! You're wasting
Mom's death!" He said that makes me stop.
I-i'm not a coward!
I let go of him and stared at him for a moment. I just pulled myself together after a deep breath.
Hearing Mom's death is like a switch on. It automatically breaks my heart.
"I'm not..." I couldn't stop the tears from falling from my eyes. "...Keigan, I'm not."
"You don't love us!"
I fell to my knees because of the tenderness. I was struggling so hard. I didn't want to
let Jay-jay go but I also didn't want to waste Mom's death.I don't know what to do anymore. I don't know how to fight. My head is empty and I don't have any plans.
I heard someone knocking at my room door.
"Keifer! What's going on there?" It was Honey.
I approached Keigan and hugged him tightly even though he kept avoiding and pushing
me.
"Keigan..." I called him but it sounded like I was begging. "...please."
I didn't know why but he stopped after his hands fell.
I continued speaking.
"I'm not giving up anything. I will continue fighting for Mom, for
Keiren and for you. But please, don't stop me seeing Jay-jay..." I heard
him gasp. "...She's my strength and weakness. Without her is like
breathing without air, bleeding without blood and dying with no
killing."
He moved his hands and patted my arms. "You really love her. Do you?"
He sounds different this time. Maybe he already calmed himself.
"She gives me purpose."
He slowly pulled himself away from my embrace.
"Go ahead. Go to her but make a promise." He said and looked at
me seriously. "...Promise me that you won't give up."
I forehead creased because of confusion. Why did he change his expression so quickly? From desperate he looks like the normal Keigan
that I'm talking to everyday.
"Keigan—."
"Fulfill your promise and I swear that I will help you." He said and
smile a bit. "...I will help you become stronger. I will help you face our
relatives, especially Clyde. I will help you create a plan."
I'm tempted to say yes. This is the first time
Keigan has offered me this kind of help. But it's a bit suspicious.
"Tell me Keigan... What is happening—?"
He cut me off by standing up. He went straight to the bathroom and I heard him turn on the faucet. I followed him and saw him washing himself.
"Just say 'no' if you don't want my help." He sounds disappointed.
I took a deep breath. I appreciate Keigan's help but I'm also worried. I
know something is not right. He has a problem and I have to know what it
is.
"Okay... I accept your help."
I saw him smile. "Thank you for trusting me."
"In one condition." I said and his smile has been wiped out. "...You will
tell me what exactly is happening to you."
Instead of answering me, he suddenly walked out of the bathroom and
went straight to the door of my room.
Before he could touch the doorknob I called his name with authority. I saw
he flinched.
"I will... But not now." He said almost in a whisper.
He opened the door. Honey and some of the maids and butlers are not
moving. They obviously tried to listen to our conversation.
"W-what happened? Someone is shouting so we thought—." Keigan
cut Honey by walking away and passes by in front of her.
"It was nothing. Please leave."
They didn't say a thing and left immediately. I return back to my
comfort room I'm really confused about what's happening to Keigan.
Ever since he returned back I know he seems odd. I keep talking to him and
ask him what happened but he keeps answering the same thing.
They keep traveling and Dad is just ignoring him.
Which I found impossible. He himself took Keigan to his
place and then just ignored him.
I'm even more confused about what's happening. I can't ask him what happened to Keigan when he was in the
powder of that Monster.
Although their is one but my brother is the only one who has contacts to
him. Dylan.
I heard my phone's message alert. Someone texted me. I immediately
took my phone at my bedside table.
It was from Tiger.
From: Tiger.
Message: Blue eye, alive alive. D2 cla ni 2mboy Jay-jay.
(Here's tomboy Jay-jay.)
I want to throw my phone against the wall. I can't understand
his text. But it's clear to me that he saw Percy and Jay-jay.
They're probably at KingsGround.
Dammit! Of all places.
I quickly fixed myself. I also put medicine and a band-aid on the wounds on my face. After applying medicine I walked straight to my
walk in closet.
I opened the glass drawer where my keys were kept. I took one
key—different again from before. I also took my wallet and phone.
I quickly left the room and headed straight for the garage.
"Keifer! Where are you going?" Honey asked when she saw me walking out
of the house.
"None of your business."
"Uncle is coming here. He'll talk to you." She said and ran after
me.
"Tell him to go back tomorrow."
"Keifer, what is it?! Are you really serious about fighting with your family? You're just playing."
I ignored him and went straight to the car I chose. I
unlocked it and immediately hop in.
I felt like I was being chased by an enemy with the speed I was driving. I can't stop myself. I really don't like the idea of Jay-jay being in the
KingsGround. He doesn't know what's in there yet.
Besides the disco and underground fight, there's also the illegal casino that Tiger runs. There's also a strip club there and of course the
underground forum where big time
dealers sell drugs.
I don't know what Hocus Focus Tiger did to hide his antics from the police.
I gripped the steering wheel tightly as I stepped on the
accelerator. I need to get him out of there. And I will definitely put
Percy back to his grave if something bad happens to Jay-jay.
I arrived at the street of KingsGround. It's not really a good idea to bring a car here. Robberies are rampant in this area. But I'm
willing to take the risk. I parked the car just outside the building.
When I got off, I saw Dan, one of Tiger's men. He looked like an actor because of his thin, two-piece front teeth.
I just can't remember who.
"Keifer... You've been visiting." He greeted me before taking a drag on a cigarette.
"Can you do me a favor?"
"What is that?"
"Watch my car." I said and took some money from my wallet.
His eyes widened when I took out three thousand. I handed it to him and he smiled even though he only had two teeth left.
"Keep it safe." I said and walked toward the entrance.
As I entered, the dark hallway first greeted me. It was still far away
but I could see that the lights were off and I could already hear the loud
music. I could also see some people dancing.
I was almost inside when I met one of Tiger's bouncers. He was carrying some men.
"Let me go! I need to get back at that woman!" One of
them said while trying to get back inside.
"Savannah and her friend really had a bad trip!" The one who was just following said.
I looked at them for a moment before finally going inside. As usual,
KingsGround disco is crowded. It was full of people dancing.
There were a few women smiling at me but they weren't the ones I went to
here. I didn't know where to start looking. I was about to
go to Tiger but I was stopped by the person who grabbed my shoulder.
It was one of the bouncers.
"You haven't been here in a while. What's up and you've come?"
He asked while looking at me seriously.
"I'm looking for someone. Maybe you could help me find her."
"That lady... Who is it? I'll have security look."
I looked around and saw that she might pass by.
"My girlfriend. She's probably still wearing a highschool uniform."
"Is she a friend of Boss Tiger?"
I nodded and looked around again.
"She's at the bar counter. We almost got into a fight earlier." He said
while pointing at the nearest counter.
I frowned. She almost put herself into a fight. She's actually at
KingsGround.
I thanked the bouncer and walked toward the bar counter. With so many people dancing, I had a hard time walking. Someone even hugged me around the neck but I quickly pushed them away.
I hadn't even completely moved from where I was when I saw him.
He was drinking something from a shot glass and suddenly he closed his eyes.
What did she drink?
I looked at the person I was talking to as if waiting for what would happen to her. When she opens her eyes, I can see her smile. She even laughs while
talking to the woman beside her.
My curiosity is poking my mind. I badly want to know what she drinks.
I saw her companion also drinking and they walked towards the
dance floor. I took the opportunity to approach the counter.
The bartender was about to take the glass Jay-jay had used but
I quickly snatched it.
"S-sir Keifer." The bartender greeted me.
I ignore him and continue what I'm doing. I stare at the shot glass for
a while. I even smell it and use my finger to taste the last drop of the drink.
I know something is weird but I can't point out what it is. I face the
bartender who didn't leave my face.
"What did you put on this drink?" I ask in a serious tone but more
sounds like a threat.
The bartender can't answer but his face shows fear. He also swallows a few
times.
"S-sir—."
I quickly pull his collar. He thanks the counter that's between us. I can't get in shape to hit him.
"Sir! That's Ma'am Savannah's order! I can't refuse!" He explains.
"When I find out what you put in. I will rip you into
pieces." I threaten and let go of him.
I also drop the glass on the counter table. I immediately
look for Jay-jay among the crowd. It took me a few minutes
before I found her. She's dancing and laughing with a girl that I don't think
she knows well.
I stared at her because that's the only thing that I can do now. I can't even
walk closer to her. If I get close to her, I might not be able to
let her go.
I wanted to stop and go back to her but Keigan's words hit me hard. Mom's death was a waste.
I won't let that happen.
I'm sorry Jay...
I was stunned when I saw her looking at me. I almost stepback
until I notice something. She's looking at me as if she doesn't know me.
The woman she's with suddenly whispered to her. Jay-jay's expression
changed and she walks away. I should have followed her but it seemed pointless. I couldn't stop her.
I have to stop her. I looked around. I was thinking of something I could use to stop her and get her out of here. I kept looking until I
saw Tiger's office.
He was the only one I could think of that I could use resources for now.
I quickly walked over there. I just nodded at the bouncers
who were watching.
I opened his office door and Percy's face was the first thing that I saw. He should have been drinking from the glass he was holding when he stopped because I was staring at him.
"And you're still here, you're not shy!" I said and pointed my fingers
to him.
"You're just shy." He said while raising my
eyebrows.
"You're just sitting and drinking here while Jay-jay is in danger!"
"Relax Keifer..." It was Tiger. "...There's no Forum and Underdog Fight
now. That's why the night isn't that hot."
I turn to him. "I'm not talking about the dirty Forum and Underdog
fight. Someone is giving a weird drink to Jay-jay." I said while pointing
my fingers at the dance floor.
"Tsk! Jay-jay looks like he's lost himself." Percy said while putting
down his drink.
He stood up and looked at me.
"I don't know what your problem is. But you're so strong!" He said angrily. "You make her cry and now here you are acting
like you cared."
"You don't know what exactly is going on."
He smirks. "I know Keifer, I know what exactly is going on. Your
revenge failed and karma hit you back. You fall for Jay-jay."
I'm no longer surprised. David never forgot to give every small detail of
my plan. I didn't think he cared about my plan. He was the one who said
that it wasn't good to have a girl in our Section because of what happened to
Ella. Yet she starts to care for Jay-jay
"I have no reason to deny it to you."
"But you deny it to Jay-jay."
Because I have to.
"It's not your business to stick your nose with." I answer and look at
him with no expression.
He didn't answer. He looked at me for a while before turning to Tiger.
"Sorry. I need to take Jay-jay home. Maybe he'll just
go away."
Tiger just nodded at him. He walked away but he still gave me a sharp look.
I still don't know what he's really up to. I don't trust him but Jay-jay seems to have found someone to lean on. As for now, I will let him
be with Jay. But one he did something to hurt her I will kill him and make
sure that he will never return back alive again.
