With Kai joining the battle, the outcome was decided almost instantly.
Using their superior mobility, the group quickly shook off their pursuers and returned to the hotel—presidential suite, top floor.
Inside, Kai's voice broke the silence.
"Alright, talk. What the hell happened?"
They were just going shopping. So why did they return with half the underworld chasing them?
To be honest, even he couldn't make sense of it.
It was hard to imagine something so ridiculous.
Nobunaga's face was pulled into an awkward grimace.
"That idiot over there. We stopped by a blacksmith's shop…"
As he recounted what happened, Kai found himself unable to comment.
All he could do was give Uvogin a silent thumbs-up.
"Hehe," Uvogin chuckled, scratching his head without the slightest hint of guilt.
It all started when Nobunaga was picking out a katana.
Uvogin, seated on the sofa nearby, was approached by a woman offering "special services."
Apparently, that particular blacksmith shop was notorious for its sky-high prices.
And with Uvogin's rural, clueless appearance, he looked like an easy target for those in certain… specialized lines of work.
But Uvogin had no idea what "special services" even meant.
In his eyes, she was just a skinny woman with weak arms—no threat at all.
"Trying to run a con like that on Uvogin? Might as well be suicidal…"
There's no need to go into graphic detail, but by the time Nobunaga showed up, the shop was drenched in blood.
Several women curled up in the corner, trembling.
Limbs lay scattered across the floor.
"I only killed two of them. They made the first move," Uvogin muttered.
Machi chimed in, her tone calm.
"The first two were just street thugs. But the ones who came afterward… One of them had quite a background."
She tossed a file onto the table.
"That young man… seems connected to our main target."
Now Kai was interested.
"He was the only son of the Inquisitor," she continued.
The Inquisitor's son, dead. No wonder the man flew into a rage.
As for why the gangsters had gotten involved in the first place… that much was obvious.
"A second-generation official, huh?" Kai chuckled, a strange glint in his eyes.
"Well then… I guess it's time to get started."
He turned to Machi.
"How's the intel verification going?"
Machi replied crisply, "It was a high-profile case. Lots of detailed follow-ups. Every participant's info was recorded and matches what the Elders gave us."
"In fact, their intel was even more comprehensive than the public records."
Clearly, when it came to Meteor Street business, the Elders weren't playing around.
"In that case…" Kai stood up. "Let's begin."

Twenty Days Later
When specialists target civilians—especially ones like Kai and his team—there's no suspense.
In just twenty days, 28 out of the 31 targets were dead.
What's worth noting is that the public began calling them something else entirely:
Vengeful Demons.
It was easy to see why.
The media couldn't get enough of it—reporting, analyzing, speculating.
People pieced together the general outline of the situation.
Of course, no one wept for the dead.
The survivors, desperate to escape their fate, scrambled for protection—
Some sought refuge in gangs, others ran to the authorities.
The result?
Still dead.
Rocket launchers didn't work.
Guns didn't work.
Walls didn't stop them.
Thus, the name Vengeful Demons spread far and wide.
Fans even emerged, treating Kai and the others like superheroes.
Seeing that brute force wasn't enough, the survivors tried other tricks.
Like hiding.
The city was big, after all. Couldn't they find some hole to crawl into?
But no matter where they ran, the attackers found them.
Sometimes even dragging them out and executing them on live feeds.
It was horrifying.
So horrifying that many stopped seeing them as human at all.
After all, only a devil could find someone whose location was known to no one else.
Kai simply shrugged.
"I have Machi. You can hide all you want. If I can't find you, I'll admit defeat."
It was all thanks to her.
During the intel-gathering phase, she'd already planted Nen threads on each of the targets.
If strength wasn't a limitation, her thread could've wrapped around the planet by now.
For ordinary people, this was an unsolvable nightmare.

That Night
"Kai, the last three have grouped up," Nobunaga reported.
His brows were furrowed.
No fleeing.
No hiding.
No resistance.
Instead, they had holed up together in a villa in the suburbs—openly.
Even a fool would know something was off.
"…Looks like we're finally facing a real fight."
To most people, the world of Nen was mysterious.
But that didn't mean it was unreachable.
Even the Ten Dons from the original story had their own Nen bodyguards—the Shadow Beasts.
That was proof enough.
Uvogin tossed his dumbbells aside, excitement rising.
"Kai, are we finally fighting Nen users?"
He'd been suffocating with boredom.
Gangs and hired thugs? Not even warm-ups.
After all his training, Uvogin's body could now tank a direct rocket blast.
Kai himself was shocked by his progress.
"In the manga, he got this strong just by messing around in the wild. With proper training, who knows what his ceiling is…"
Kai was genuinely looking forward to it.
"If they just wanted to die, they could've killed themselves.
But no—this is a trap."
"They picked a low-population area on purpose and made sure we knew where they were. Obviously, they're planning something."
After fighting so many times, the enemies must understand Kai's combat strength.
If they still dared to set a trap…
They must be confident.
"Either they've gathered heavy weaponry, or they've hired Nen users."
Kai was betting on the latter.
Sure, powerful weapons existed in this world—
From guns to rockets, even that terrifying "Poor Man's Rose" used by Chairman Netero.
Not even the Ant King could resist it.
But Kai didn't think he'd reached that level yet.
Still, that weapon was so rare, its appearance could almost be ruled out entirely.
"In the Chimera Ant Incident, millions died and a whole nation fell. Even then, V5 didn't immediately use the Rose—they asked the Chairman to step in first."
Compared to that, the people they killed were nothing.
"I just hope it's not one of the Elders showing up personally," Kai muttered under his breath.
Because if it was… things might get very interesting.
