Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: “Dungeon of Echoes”

The Announcement – A Real Dungeon Test

The Academy courtyard buzzed with excitement.

Professor Elenor stepped forward, her voice amplified by magic.

"All second-year elite teams are to enter the Dungeon of Echoes — a Class-S unstable relic site."

A hush fell over the students.

"This dungeon doesn't test strength alone. It reaches into your soul. Your regrets, your memories… even your past lives."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"So they're sending us into a trap that talks back."

Mira smirked.

"It's perfect for you."

Before the Descent – The Teams Are Chosen

Each team was to have six members. Kael was given the freedom to choose.

He looked over his gathered companions:

Zara – his loyal sword, protector of his heart.

Mira – the dreamwalker and seer of fate.

Rayna – thunder in her blood, storm in her soul.

Lyra – explosive alchemist and chaos incarnate.

Lilliane – the noble turned loyal apostle.

Iris – the emotionless blade now tethered by memory.

Together, they formed a force unmatched.

"We are team 'Obsidian Eclipse,'" Kael said.

The instructors frowned.The students whispered.

One of them laughed, mockingly:

"That name sounds like a god's cult."

Kael looked straight at him and replied:

"Maybe it is."

Into the Dungeon – The Echoing Gate

The gate pulsed like a heartbeat, made of bone and black crystal.

One by one, the girls stepped through.

When Kael entered last, the gate whispered to him:

"You again…"

"Welcome home, Forgotten One."

Darkness swallowed them.

Inside – Echoes of the Soul

The team landed in different sections of the dungeon — separated.

Each girl faced a different trial, born from their deepest secrets.

Zara's Trial: The Mirror Duel

Zara stood before a mirror version of herself — same armor, same scars.

"You protect him because you're weak without him."

"No," she whispered, blade raised. "I protect him… because I believe in him."

The mirror shattered. She passed.

Mira's Trial: The Dream of the End

Mira relived her vision of Kael's death.

She saw him pierced, chained, burned — again and again.

"You can't save him," the dungeon hissed.

"Then I'll die beside him," Mira whispered. "Again and again."

She passed.

Rayna's Trial: The Sister's Ghost

Rayna saw her long-lost twin — the one she couldn't protect.

"You chose the prince over me."

"I… I did," she said through tears. "But now I'll protect both of you."

She passed.

Lyra's Trial: The Madness Within

Lyra faced an insane version of herself, laughing as her potions destroyed a village.

"You're dangerous."

"I am," Lyra grinned. "But I choose where my chaos falls."

She passed.

Lilliane's Trial: The Mask of Nobility

She stood in front of her old self — cruel, prideful, arrogant.

"You gave up status for love?"

"No," she said coldly. "I gave it up… for truth."

She passed.

Iris' Trial: The Day She Killed Kael

She relived the moment she drove her blade into Kael's divine heart.

"Do it again," the echo taunted. "It's your fate."

Iris clenched her fists.

"No," she whispered. "My fate… is with him."

She passed.

Kael's Trial: The Divine Tribunal

Kael stood before three hooded figures — each bearing a divine crest.

"You broke balance," they intoned.

"You saved mortals without permission."

"You chose love over law."

"Do you repent?"

Kael laughed softly.

"I do."

The gods leaned forward.

"What?!"

"I repent… that I didn't break the universe sooner."

The dungeon screamed.

"UNSTABLE ENTITY DETECTED—"

"ERROR: GOD MEMORY REACTIVATION."

The Team Reunites – The Dungeon Tries to Collapse

When the girls found Kael again, the walls were shifting. The dungeon groaned as if alive.

"You did something, didn't you?" Zara asked.

"I remembered something I wasn't supposed to," Kael replied.

The ground beneath them cracked. From the stone, a massive gate rose — lined in divine gold.

A new path.

A secret floor not even the academy knew existed.

Mira gasped.

"Kael… that's one of the ancient temples."

"The ones that used to worship you."

Kael looked up at the sky of the dungeon.

"Then it's time I paid a visit to my old altar."
