Chapter 23: Trial of Silence
Scene 1: The Gaze of Seraphiel
The Divine Inquisitor stood motionless in the broken chapel beneath the Sealing Grounds. Her presence didn't radiate power—it silenced it. No wind, no echo, not even Ren's heartbeat dared exist near her.
Chains rattled as the Judgment Casket floated beside her, sealed with hundreds of golden scripts.
Ren stepped forward.
"You're the one who erased entire wars from the records."
Seraphiel said nothing. But golden chains slithered around his feet. A mirror formed in her palm.
In it, Ren saw his face—but no eyes. No reflection. As if he didn't belong.
A divine decree echoed without voice:
"You are a paradox."
And paradoxes are either resolved… or removed.
Scene 2: Elyra's Past
Suddenly, Elyra stood between them. Her hand trembled as she held a cracked divine emblem.
"If he dies, my truth dies with him. I'm more than your pawn. I choose to remember."
Seraphiel stared for a moment. One golden chain unraveled, wrapping around Elyra's memory shard.
A new vision appeared—a ruined temple, Elyra standing with a broken halo, swearing allegiance to a god that never existed.
Ren reached for her, and the Codex Nullum flared open.
CHAIN FOUR: SCRIPTUM DENIED – UNLOCKED.
Authorship denied: "Judgment cannot override memory."
The casket shattered briefly as a divine law broke.
Seraphiel's eyes glowed for the first time. She stepped back.
Scene 3: The Trial Begins
Outside the chamber, Kael Veylor and members of House Veylor had arrived—along with two figures in veils from the Unknown House.
"Kill him now," Kael said. "Before he becomes another god."
But the ground cracked open.
A void-fused greatsword floated into Ren's hand—the weapon reacting to Codex Chain Four.
"They wrote the world in chains. I'll write it back in ash."
Ren's New Weapon – Voidglaive: Aetherbane
Type: Void-Class Greatsword
Ability: Erases the "source" of any ability it strikes. Not just the spell—but the caster's ability to ever cast it again.
Skill Locked (For Now): "Oblivion Edge"
This weapon will unlock further in Chapter 25 during a divine confrontation.
