Chapter 5 - Madness.

[Thanotopia, Temple of Madness, Titan]

In the center of a grand temple, there was a large group of people praying. Calling this temple grandeur was an insult, this temple was the pinnacle of grand. Its large golden spires at the top, its detailed and beautiful stained glass, the large and descriptive mural at the top, and the holiest part of the temple was the statue of a man holding a sword in the air.

Beneath this statue was a large stone coffin with streams of reddish-black liquid flowing into it from the ground. The liquid came from the crushed bodies of former enemies.

"May their life essence awaken you, my king. We have found another world to harvest. I am told this one holds powerful beings capable of easily toppling cities. Their life essence will be a great asset in reawakening you, my lord." A white-skinned alien proclaimed with deep respect. After praying to the coffin and statue for a while longer, the prayer group left.

Outside of the Temple was a beautiful red sky with Saturn taking a large portion of it. Tall buildings touched the sky and it was a very busy city. People of different sizes, colors, and limbs walked about but the most prevalent were large purple humanoids.

The white-skinned alien got into a ship and flew to the largest building in the city. Once he exited, aliens in black stone-like armor were kneeling. He ignored them and walked inside the high-tech building.

"Computer, contact that wretched beast. I have a job for him." The alien said to thin air. Suddenly, a blue computer screen appeared, [Affirmative sir. Contacting, Thokk.]

A holographic image of a white-furred lion alien appeared. Unlike his usual demeanor with others, this time he too was kneeling.

"You have a job for me Lord?" Thokk aka Battle Beast asked.

"Yes, I do. There is a planet I need you to scout for me. I believe it is named Earth. Find out if the rumors about extraordinary beings are true, if they are, contact me immediately." He said as he stared at a holographic image of Earth.

"As you wish Lord. Will I be permitted to fight those I come across?" Thokk asked barely containing his grin.

The white-skinned alien waved his hand in dismissal, "Sure I don't care but you must contact me within two Earth days, which is 48 hours."

"Thank you, Lord." Thokk said and his hologram disappeared. The white-skinned alien looked out towards the city with his hands behind his back.

"Computer, round up my siblings. I believe if we harvest this world, Father may awaken."

[Affirmative, Lord Maw.]

[Downtown Chicago, Illinois]

"Your choice of food is seriously concerning Jeannie…" Natasha poked fun at my deep-dish pizza with beef, peppers, and crushed Doritos.

"Can't knock it till you try it." I shrugged before we both bursted out in laughter. This day was probably one of the best days of my life! Laughter, and happiness, I could feel these emotions burn hotter than ever before.

After eating, Natasha and I walked around the city a bit more shopping, window shopping, teasing people, etc. At the end of the night, we wound up on the pier looking at the full moon over Lake Michigan.

I looked at Natasha who was occupied with the Ferris wheel but then my vision started to get blurry and boom, I was in front of Phoenix.

"Child, it is urgent. I apologize for interrupting your date." She said with an urgency in her voice I've never heard before. What's got her so spooked?

"It's alright Phoenix, what's up?"

"I've felt a great disturbance in the life energy of this universe. Life is being extinguished and the life energy isn't being recirculated throughout the universe. Something is absorbing swathes of life energy, civilization worths." Phoenix said with worry. If this is an alternate universe with Marvel characters then I can only assume Galactus is the cause of this right?

"A shot in the dark but maybe Galactus is the reason this is happening? He does devour worlds correct?

"Yes but is in the same way a lion kills a gazelle, he needs those worlds to survive. Whatever life energy is absorbed is later distributed by his use of the Power Cosmic. What's happening now is much worse. Who or whatever is absorbing so much life energy is a detriment to the balance of the universe." Phoenix said with extreme amounts of concern. A detriment to the universe?! There's a whole list of beings who are classed as detrimental to the universe, hell, one of them is inside of me!

"So what should I do? There isn't very much I can do honestly, if a cosmic threat came to Earth right now we'd be finished." Sure, the heroes of Earth can stop an alien invasion but if a being like the Beyonder or Galactus came to Earth with the goal of destruction all we could do is sit and wait till we die.

"You are the reincarnated one. Are you going to use your extraordinary gifts to stay mediocre? This universe may not follow the, how do you say, 'canon' that you are used to but the materials, people, items, realms, worlds, and energies are all the same. It is up to you how you will utilize these things." Phoenix said and she was right. Why haven't I used my future knowledge to advance my goals? How stupid of me!

"Thank you, Phoenix. I didn't realize how stupid I was being. Whenever you find out what's causing the balance to tip, let me know."

"You know I will child. Now return to your date, she looks quite worried about you."

"It's not a da-" My vision warped and I was back on the pier with Natasha waving her hand in front of my face.

"Hellooo, Earth to Jeannie!" She said slightly irritated. Once she saw my eyes move she crossed her arms and squinted.

"So you were just ignoring me huh?" I quickly put my hands up in defense, "No of course not! My brother was speaking to me sorry. He just awakened his powers so he's quite excited."

"Tell him you're busy right now! He can wait until later..." She said with a possessive look in her eyes.

"Yes yes, of course, I'll tell him right now." I closed my eyes for five seconds and opened them again. After that, our outing continued but the thought of some cosmic threat weighed heavily on my mind. I think it's about time I gathered some allies and I know just the right people. Hmm, I also wonder if Cap is still in the ice or not. I'll filter through Fury and Cecil's minds later.

[Later that night]

I flew out of my window and straight up. I flew through the clouds, then the upper atmosphere, and finally I reached outer space.

Time to let loose. I let down the mental walls I put on myself to restrain my strength and felt the full power of The Phoenix course through my veins. I could feel EVERYTHING!

I felt the disturbance Phoenix was talking about and I now understood how severe this really was. Hearing it and feeling it are really two different things. I won't investigate for now, I don't know how powerful the being is and I don't wanna find out right now.

I needed materials and what better material than one of the strongest metals in the universe? I flew to the asteroid belt at speeds NASA is going to worry about real soon. Now, to find a nice Vibranium asteroid.

I flew through the asteroid belt scanning each asteroid but most of them had none in them. That was until I came across a huge asteroid! I estimated it was the size of a small island and it was glowing blue.

Jackpot.

Now to solve the second half of this equation, how the hell am I going to get this on Earth? I can't come back carrying some huge meteor on my back. Hmm, maybe I could shave away all the rock and hide it somewhere. The moon it is!

I opened my hand and a bright orange flame was born. I shot a plume of fire at the asteroid with the only intention of burning away whatever wasn't vibranium. It took no time at all and I was left with a gigantic chunk of glowing black metal.

I flew the asteroid to the moon but I made sure to go around the back, don't need any prying Earth eyes and if someone does notice me, I'll wipe their memory. I embedded the Vibranium deep within the moon's crust, perfect hiding spot!
