Chapter 22 - *Chapter 22 – Mihir Gets a Unique Proof*

Everybody went to their homes, and after everyone had left, Mihir resumed his work. Soon, he received a letter. He carefully scanned that letter, cleaned it, and then read it. It said:

**"The plan has been finalized and we will accomplish it very soon. When the time comes, we will act. If anyone comes in between, we will send him straight to Yamraj. We will now meet only after the mission is complete."**

After reading this, Mihir was shocked. *What is this? Where did this come from? What is this mission? And who is behind this plan?* These questions started flooding his mind. Then, he picked up the book in which that man had written everything about himself and started reading it.

On the second page, it was mentioned that the man's daily life was going smoothly. He had traveled to many places in his life, always taking his family along. But as Mihir flipped to some of the last pages, he came across very strange writings. One of the entries read:

**"One day, I sanctioned a loan for a man because he was in great trouble and needed money. I felt pity for him and helped him. But later, he betrayed me. Because of him, I was about to go to jail, but my friend saved me. Together, we caught that man and handed him over to the police, and I was saved. After that, we all became very close. We went everywhere together. It felt like our lives were filled with happiness. But we didn't know that the one who brought us happiness would one day bring us destruction."**

Mihir began to grow suspicious of that friend mentioned in the pages. As he kept reading, more secrets began to unfold. This very case, which had been closed long ago, was now resurfacing with fresh, shocking details. Mihir felt both shocked and saddened by what he was learning. Important evidence was beginning to surface. He realized that he was no longer far from solving the case. All he had to do now was finish reading the book, and the mystery would be uncovered.

He turned to another page and found a chilling account. It was written:

**"My little boy was kidnapped. The police were trying to find him, but they had no success. Then, I got a call. The caller demanded ransom, or else he would kill my child. The call was cut short, and soon after, I received a video. It was a video of my son crying helplessly. I was terrified. But once again, my friend came to help. He told me not to worry and to trust him. He would handle everything. Believing him, I gave him the ransom money. He brought the child back safely. We were all grateful to him. He became like family to us. But perhaps our mistake was that we trusted him too much. We never imagined that he would later betray us from behind."**

The pages following that were all blank, except for one page which seemed to be missing. Mihir searched everywhere for that missing page but could not find it. He became tired from searching and took a short rest. Thoughts kept circling in his mind—*Where is that emerald?*

Just as he was getting overwhelmed, a new problem arose. After having some breakfast, he returned to his secret room and continued searching for the missing page. Finally, after a long time, he found it, hidden deep inside the book. As Mihir started reading that page, his hair stood on end.

**"One day, my friend came to me, visibly worried. I asked him what was wrong. He said, 'Brother, I have received a project, but no one is willing to help me.' I asked, 'What kind of project?' He replied, 'I have to create a model of a bank, but the bank isn't allowing me to enter and survey the premises.'

So, I smiled and said, 'Is that all? The bank where I work is one of the best in the world. I will take you there myself. Just tell me when you want to go.'

He responded, 'That would be great, brother. I will check the exact time and tell you.'

He left and came back after a week. He said, 'Let us go on Monday. I am ready.' I asked him why he took so long, and he said he had gone out for work related to the project.

Monday was just a day away.

But little did I know that my family and I would pay the price for this trust. I could not see the deceit in my friend's eyes and I walked straight into his trap.

On Monday morning, I called him. He picked up and said, 'Brother, you go ahead, I will come later. I'll be a bit late.'

Trusting him, I went to the bank. I asked the manager for permission to do some work. Since I had a good reputation, he allowed me in without hesitation."**

As Mihir read this part, everything started to make sense. *Now I understand what the mission was and why I have come this far.*

He realized he had to go back to the same place once again. Maybe more evidence was still hidden there. Maybe he could find out what exactly happened to that man's family.

*Now what will happen? Will Mihir be able to solve this case? So many months have passed—how long has this truth been buried?*
