Chapter 24 - The Silent Golden Lion

On the deck of the Rocks Pirates' ship, a group of pirates gazed toward the island. What was once a lush, unremarkable little island had now been submerged by the fierce battle between Bob and Golden Lion. Moreover, the seawater showed no signs of receding in its advance.

At the center of the island, Bob and Golden Lion stood facing each other in a tense standoff.

"Damn it, Bob, give me back my swords!" Golden Lion shouted, his face flushed with frustration.

"Cough, cough..." Golden Lion's agitation triggered a fit of coughing.

"Ha ha ha! Golden Lion, are you a three-year-old child? In the world of pirates, what we take by strength isn't returned just because you ask for it!" Bob laughed heartily, his expression teasing as he watched Golden Lion growing desperation.

Earlier, during their clash, just as Bob was about to strike Golden Lion dual swords, he suddenly transformed his fist into an open palm. With a swift motion, he grabbed both blades and yoink them from Golden Lion grasp.

"Brother Bob, consider this a favor I owe you. Please, return my swords!" Knowing that brute force wouldn't work, Golden Lion resorted to pleading, almost on the verge of kneeling. These swords, Oto and Kogarashi, were more than just weapons to him—they were like his wives, having accompanied him through countless battles.

Now, with them in someone else's hands, he felt utterly humiliated. For a commander to have his blades taken away was a disgrace beyond measure.

"Fine! Since we're both part of the same pirate crew, I won't make this too hard on you," Bob said, waving the swords in the air, testing their balance. "You said earlier that if you lost, i could demand something from you right? Well, I'll take these two legendary swords as my prize!"

Hearing this, Golden Lion face fell, and he nearly burst into tears, stammering, "This is..."

He deeply regretted provoking Bob, this monstrous opponent. It was nothing but his self-inflicted suffering. He wished he could go back to the moment he challenged Bob and slap his own arrogance.

Golden Lion wasn't one who couldn't accept defeat. He had lost to Rocks before, but what he couldn't bear was losing to a young upstart. What made it worse was that Bob hadn't resorted to sneak attacks—he had defeated Golden Lion fair and square, using all his skills.

The thought of his hard-earned reputation being tarnished, coupled with the loss of his beloved swords, was too much to bear. With a thud, he collapsed to the ground, his spirit shattered.

Golden Lion had completely shut down.

"Hahahaha!" Bob burst into laughter, not bothering to hide his amusement. He never expected the legendary Flying Pirate to be reduced to such a state.

As he looked at the island, now on the verge of being completely submerged, Bob began laughing. "This island is about to be swallowed by the sea!" he said, gathering both swords in one hand and grabbing the passed out Golden Lion with the other.

With a single leap, he soared into the air, tracing a perfect arc as he descended toward the Rocks Pirates' ship.

"Boom!" The massive ship, over a hundred meters long, tilted sharply as Bob landed. If not for his control over the force of his landing, he might have crashed straight through the deck.

Meanwhile, the distant island, already battered and bruised, began to sink even faster under the impact of Bob's leap. In no time at all, it was completely engulfed by the sea.

The once lush little island had been stripped bare and vanished into the vast sea.

On the pirate ship, everyone watched as Bob held up the Golden Lion, carrying the two famous swords, Oto and Kogarashi.

He landed on the deck like a cannonball. Everyone was stunned.

"Bob! He... won!"

"The Golden Lion has been defeated!"

"Commander Bob, I want to join your crew!"

"..."

At this moment, the pirate crew who witnessed the scene erupted in thunderous cheers. Their eyes were filled with admiration as they looked at Bob. Some crew members who hadn't yet chosen a team now set their sights on Bob's squad.

"Hahaha! Golden Lion, weren't you so arrogant?!"

"Hahaha! A great swordsman you said, even your swords were taken!"

"Where's your signature cigar? Why aren't you smoking it now?"

"..."

Wang Zhi, John, Silver Axe, and several other commanders looked at the now defeated Golden Lion and burst into laughter. Their mockery was relentless.

Yet, in the face of their ridicule, the Golden Lion remained silent, slumped on the deck.

"gurararrara!"

"Bob, I never expected you to grow to this level!"

"You had me worried for a while!"

Whitebeard, seeing Bob return, was filled with excitement. He didn't forget to taunt the Golden Lion as well.

"Golden Lion, what's wrong? Lost your voice?"

"Challenging Bob, now you've lost respect!"

Miraculously, the Golden Lion didn't retort to his old rival Whitebeard's words. Instead, he silently watched Bob.

Or rather, the two swords in Bob's hands.

"Alright, alright! Here, take your swords back!"

Seeing the Golden Lion's persistent gaze, Bob said impatiently. With a wave of his hand, the two famous swords were tossed in front of the Golden Lion.

Truth be told, Bob never intended to keep the swords. He just wanted to annoy the Golden Lion. He had planned to return them in a few days, but seeing the Golden Lion's current state, he couldn't help but feel exasperated.

Seeing Bob return the swords, the Golden Lion's eyes lit up, and he quickly picked them up.

"Ahem... uh..."

"I, the Golden Lion, always keep my word!"

"I told you to name your conditions, so go ahead and name them!"

With his swords back, the Golden Lion seemed to come alive again. He stood up and spoke to Bob.

Seeing this, Bob cursed under his breath. He had every reason to suspect that the Golden Lion had been playing the victim earlier.

After a moment's thought, Bob still hadn't decided on any demands. After a pause, he said, "We'll talk about it later!"

At that moment, the voice of Captain Rocks suddenly rang out.

"Continue on our original course!"

He gave Bob a deep look but said nothing more. Then he turned and went back into the cabin.

Hearing this, the others also put away their spectator expressions and returned to their quarters. Thus, the battle between the commanders came to an end. But the scene of the fight was deeply etched in everyone's hearts.
