Alaric woke to the soft sound of Freya's voice in his mind.
"Good morning, Master," she said cheerfully. "I trust you slept well?"
Alaric stretched and sat up, still groggy. "Morning, Freya. How was the update?"
Freya's tone carried a hint of excitement. "The update was successful, and I now have new functionalities that may greatly assist you on your journey."
He perked up at this. "New functionalities? What kind?"
Freya began explaining. "First, I can now assist you in mastering your elemental powers more effectively. Through detailed feedback and suggested exercises, you can refine your control over each element."
Alaric nodded, impressed. "That's definitely useful. What else?"
"The second functionality," Freya continued, "is unprecedented. You now have the ability to create your own magic. This feature allows you to combine elements, concepts, and imagination to design unique spells. This ability is extremely rare, even among the most talented mages."
Alaric's jaw dropped. "Create my own magic? That's... incredible."
"It is, Master. However, I must caution you: using this feature requires careful planning and immense mana. It will also require time and effort to fully realize its potential."
Excitement bubbled within Alaric as he swung his legs out of bed. "This changes everything. I can't wait to try it out."
Freya's voice softened. "You are a gifted individual, Master. I believe this will serve you well."
With that, Alaric got ready for the day, his mind racing with possibilities. He met Alicia and Jake at their usual spot, and together, they headed to the guild to prepare for their quest to eliminate the goblin village.
When they arrived, the guild was buzzing with activity. The two adventurer groups they were partnering with were already waiting: a confident swordsman leading a group of four and a grim-faced mage with three companions. The guild master was present as well, briefing the teams.
"Ah, Alaric and friends, good timing," the guild master said, motioning them over. "These are your allies for the quest. You'll be working together to eliminate the goblin village."
The swordsman, a tall man with sharp features, introduced himself. "Name's Darius, rank E. My team specializes in close combat."
The mage, a woman with piercing blue eyes, gave a curt nod. "Eleanor. We handle ranged magic support."
Alaric shook their hands. "Alaric. We're glad to work with you."
After a brief discussion of strategies, the teams set off toward the forest. As they walked, Alaric couldn't help but think about his newfound ability. He resolved to test it soon—perhaps during the battle to come
