Chapter 1 - Acceptance.

"Your shift's over!"

A fairly tall man with an average physique yet with a ragged appearance which gave him a look not suiting his age at all, turned around and nodded to his manager signalling him that he will now be leaving.

His pristine dark eyes lacked focus. His shoulders had leaned forward, slumping. The pace of his walking seemed slow as well. The man's age was around 22 yet he seemed to have seen the end of the world.

He continued to walk home quietly sometimes glancing in other directions while being lost in thoughts.

At long last he had reached his home. As soon as he entered the house...

thump.

...he dropped his bag he carried to his work...

thud.

...and sat down creating not loud but a heavy noise. He immediately began searching for the remote to his tv while actively fetching the food which had laid on the floor.

ting~

His TV had turned on... the man's eyes which lacked focus seemed to have regained some focus... his eyes which were dull had begun to slight glisten.

[Today we are here with the Rudolf! Yes I mean the Rudolf who is currently the youngest billionaire in history! The CEO and Founder of Gamma International!]

His eyes had once again lost their shine... they now conveyed a sense of slight envy and anger.

[So Rudolf! If you have one thing you'd like to say to the audience before we start this interview what would it be?]

krackle~

The man had cracked open a pack of snacks and began munching as he continued to watch.

[Uhm.. let's see.. Ah! There is something!]

krackle~

[Please do tell us Rudolf!]

krackle~

[It's that your fate is already decided... and it's the best for you! So don't lo- "]

crack!

"AGH! Fucking hell... that ruined my mood."

'My fate is already decided? BULLSHIT! IF ONLY I HAD MORE TIME BACK THEN!'

The TV which was the most inexpensive item in the entire house was now broken due to a single outburst from the man. He seemed fed up of everything around him....

thud.

The man collapsed into a little ball while beginning to sob uncontrollably before falling into sleep.

"Why is the clock so lo- What?"

The man was bewildered... he began to look around the food which laid on the floor was now gone instead there was a clean carpet which laid on the floor. The smashed TV had disappeared... instead there was no TV at all.

A shelf full of books had appeared besides him. A desk full of papers which seemed have months of hard work put into them appeared in front of him.

The floor he slept on now was a comfortable and soft bed.

It was after observing all of this... he concluded that he was now in the apartment where he used to live when he was around the age of 16.

'Date... what's the damn DATE?'

[12 Friday 2009]

'What? HOW? WHAT THE FUCK?!'

The man had regressed back in time. Going back to being an ambitious teenager he seemed to be once upon a time.

'I-If this i-is real... I'm going to fix. Everything. Every Damn Mistake I made.'

He had once again regained hope. A tenacious hope to fix all he had done.

The man- now a boy put even more work than he had the last time. He jotted down all he could remember, all he needed to remember, all he wanted to do.

Days passed... The boy seemed to one of the students with the most potential to others.

Months passed... The boy was now at the top of class.

And so... years had passed.

However this time... he had failed to do what he truly wanted to achieve. The boy... wished to be at the top of world... yet he had once again ended up at what saw as the lowest place in the world.

He had once again ended up at the same place as he once was.

[It's that your fate is already decided... and it's the best for you! So don't lo- "]

crack!

'THAT LINE AGAIN! FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!'

thud.

The boy- who was a man once again... threw the tv's remote in his hand in rage.

'ONE MORE GOD DAMN TRY. I NEED ONE MORE.'

His second regression had begun.

'I'll fucking ace this life.'

However... just like the first time, he had once again... FAILED.

He ended ONCE AGAIN... what he considered the lowest place of the world.

'Again. Whoever you are make me go back again.'

Like this... He began regressing back in time... again and again and AGAIN.

One regression he was able to finally buy a house of his own... in another regression he finally found someone who he thought was the love of his life only for her to divorce him and immediately be with another man.

Somewhere around the 67th regression he became the talk of the town for being so 'successful' yet the man only looked at them with discontent, scorning at them for thinking that this was the highest he could reach.

These regressions continued on and on... the man in some regressions became 'successful' while in some he ended up with a decent life and in the rest... he ended up at the place which he hated.

He had now reached the 99th regression... unlike the previous 98 times this regression was going to be different.

"Congratulations on passing college with the highest grades man!"

"Thanks."

"How'd you even do that shit?"

"I dunno study. And maybe like live 98 lives?"

"Haha... You always have some of the best jokes in the most serious situations."

"Right."

Time went on... the man seemed to be doing much better in this life than any of his previous lives.

'Nice... this company seems nice. I never heard of it during any regression though? Weird. But.. I have enough money to invest in it and 10 others like it anyways.'

The man seemed satisfied.

However... it soon came to stab him in the back.

'WHAT? THIS IS Higasa International?? The company which conducted a scam...which came to be known as the greatest and the most terrible scam in the world... I KNOW FOR A FACT IT WAS CRIMSON SERVICES AND NOT HIGASA... SO.. How? HOW! HOW?!'

"STOP! STOP! I'm TELLING YOU I DIDN'T KNOW! I... DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS!"

"You will now be placed under an investigation. You have the r- "

The voices around him began to be fainter... his eyes trembled... his body shook uncontrollably. In all his regressions he never once felt like this. NEVER.

Yet this time... he seemed to be breaking...

"You will be living in the cell for the meantime."

'Ah....AGH!!! I HATE- HATE THIS GOD DAMN WOR- '

click.

The TV had once again been turned on. Instead of live TV however it seemed to have been playing older recording of the news.

krr~

The screen glitched a little before playing an old recording. However somehow... it was the one which the man knew about quite well.

[It's that your fate is already decided... and it's the best for you! So don't lose yourself yet. Trust me it's for the best. "]

'No.. no...no please... it's not... shut up...'

[That truly is a quote almost every person nowadays needs to hear I believe, Rudolf!]

'It's... not.. It's not!'

[Haha. Is that so? I guess some people really do need to hear it eh?]

'NO! I SAID- '

" -FUCKING STOP!"

The interview continued playing.

sob~

... the tears which the man had held back... for years... in all in 98 previous regressions....

sob~

'I... just want to... be happy.'

... began flowing out. As if waiting since forever.

'W-w-why? How is it that in ALL THESE 98 LIVES I NEVER ONCE, NEVER ONCE SUCCEED.'

[So Rudolf... would like to tell us how your journey started?]

The interview went on playing as if...

[Well... I wouldn't want to lie really. I took a few cheats here and there.]

'S-so d-di-d I..'

[Really? Do you think you wouldn't have made it without these 'cheats'?]

[Haha. What a question to ask...]

[I'm quite curious that's all.]

[Not really... did you forget what I said? Fate. It's all up to it.]

...mocking him for trying so many times.

'Fi-ne... I accept it. I accept this FUCKING FATE!'

[25 Sunday 2016]

[A prison inmate who was just found out to not be guilty after 6 whole months was just found dead. It seemed that he had killed himself.]

[That's is quite the sad news Jessica... Alright now.... next up on the headlines today- ]

The man had once again...

[12 Friday 2009]

...returned back in time.

There was an eerie silence in the room. The man stared blankly for a moment… before standing up.

This time, the first thing he did was burn all the books...

This time the man decided...

crackle~

...that all he wants now is to be happy.
