Chapter 16 - The Future Is Now

It was so good that many felt like crying. Leaning into their seats, some burped embarrassingly and sighed with relish.

The atmosphere among them was no longer tense, but very warm and chummy, as though they were old friends who have known each other for decades. Of course, if you forget the scene of them cursing and fighting each other, it would look like they have been long-time friends.

As agricultural buyers, they have eaten a lot of fruits and foods of various variations, but none tasted as excellent as the ones eaten today. They even feared that after leaving, they might not have the appetite to eat ordinary dishes anymore.

"Sure enough, money is meant to be spent on good food."

"Have you ever eaten anything so extraordinary?... And is it just me, or did you all feel less fatigued after the meal?"

Several people paused momentarily, before vigorously bobbing their heads like chickens. Hendo, Old Axe, and Frosch, who were assisting in clearing the dishes, almost dropped the items in their hands when hearing this.

Could it be?... Could it really be true that these dishes have medical capabilities as promised?

As farmers, they admitted that the artificially grown foods had a super growth rate. Though they felt these buyers were eating exaggeratingly, they can also accept that perhaps it tastes better than the normal ones.

However, what they still felt was impossible, was for there to be any immediate medical results after a single meal. Even Comrade Park was amazed to feel the changes in his body too. And what about the taste?

Comrade Park licked his lips with relish, already thinking of how to persuade Hendo and the others to agree for some of the produce to be used in the staff kitchen for meals.

Gort had suggested this at the start, but no one agreed, seeing the watermelons, tomatoes, and Ginseng as money. But who would have known that it would taste so good and have such a magical effect?

He and Gort ate alongside the buyers. So Comrade Park's thoughts were now distracted by the food party in his mouth.

Swishing his tongue and licking his teeth back and forth, Comrade Park swallowed up the remaining food essence with relish.

Hahahahahahahah~

Gort was the calmest amongst them all.

"What are your thoughts, fellow buyers?"

"As I promised, the taste is not to be underestimated. Again, one important thing I must tell you all is that the shelf life without fridges and modern technology is also really good."

"Take this Tomato for instance—"

On cue, Clare Rei was hauling a trolley with a giant Tomato on display.

"If sliced, it will remain 100% intact out in the open air for 1 month… before showing signs of deterioration. It will take another month for it to get completely rotten… that is if it's sliced open."

Everyone leaned forward, with their eyes now popping out of their sockets and their jaws dropped to the grounds. But Gort was not about to stop now.

"Bruising is normal during transportation for most fruit, but I assure you… ours is different. I'm sure many of you also noticed the stronger outer coat of our products."

"And even if bruised or bumped, so long as the outer coat is still intact, the fruit will have a shelf life of 3 months before getting completely rotten."

"2 months before the decay process starts and another month before it becomes rotten to the core."

"And when placed in a fridge, it can last for 3 months before the decay process starts. The important thing to note is that once decaying starts, it will always have just 1 month to go before it gets inedible and rotten."

Boom!

A grenade went off in the minds of these buyers, especially Payne Hanberg who now stood abruptly, staring at the tomato as though it was his second wife.

"Sorry, but did you say it has a shelf life of 3 months when not sliced?"

Even Hendo, who was a farmer, felt the matter was incredulous.

You must know that depending on their ripeness when purchased, tomatoes typically stay fresh for about 1 to 2 weeks at room temperature, depending on their ripeness when purchased.

If stored in a refrigerator, they can last up to 1 week. So how could they not be dumbfounded by the magical shelf life Gort spoke of?

"What about the texture and flavor once refrigerated?" Payne Hanberg asked, calmly his quaky nerves in the process.

Everyone knows that putting tomatoes and many crops in the fridge may affect their texture and flavor, even if it prolongs their lifespan. That's why for the best taste, it was advisable to store them at room temperature and consume them as soon as possible.

Do this if you know you're going to eat them all in a week or a week and a half. You can store them in the fridge if you know you'll not be eating them anytime soon.

They typically last an extra week compared to when placed outdoors at room temperature. So when it comes to flavor and texture when refrigerated, with these artificially grown crops, how much of its taste and original texture is actually lost?

"Everyone, there's no need to worry. In fact, only 0.000001% is lost for both flavor and texture during refrigeration."

Hiss~

The group of listeners sucked in air exaggeratedly.

That low? Are you sure you've run the numbers correctly?

The expression on the buyer's said what they thought.

Gort chuckled in amusement when looking at their faces. Yet there was an absolute wave of confidence in his gaze when talking about his company's yields.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I guarantee you that I am the future— the future sun that has not dawned yet, one that will energize and Level technology forward.… So my dear buyers, what you all are witnessing, is history in the making!"
